A few months ago, Famitsu revealed that Atlus would be doing a 3DS remake of Radiant Historia, a 2011 RPG on the DS that flew under a lot of radars. Radiant Historia: Perfect Chronology aims to add new story content and better visuals to the game, while also no doubt also attempting to drum up interest in a possible sequel. It launches in Japan later this month, and until now, there had been no details about a release for the West.
Fortunately, Atlus has decided to localize the game, as a new slide on the company’s website has indicated. Details are scarce at the moment, but the site says it’s coming in “early 2018”. Perhaps we’ll be hearing more about it at E3, but this should no doubt come as great news to fans of the original or those who missed it the first time around.
What do you think? Did you like Radiant Historia? Will Atlus eventually do a sequel to it? Drop us a comment in the section below.

Awesome, I missed out on it on the DS but on the 3DS where it gets more content and better graphics? I am pre-ordering this as day-one purchase
YES!
That's one down. Two more to go (Etrian Odyssey V/SMT Deep Strange Journey)
It seems there's still quite a good few RPG's left yet to come out on 3DS. There was a spate of announcements this morning. In addition to the above game there's also Etrian Odyssey V and Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey Redux.
I can't believe we all thought the 3DS was dead.
@neufel I know right? I keep getting intrigued by these 3DS headlines, thinking it's a new Switch game. Nope.
I wish this was coming to Switch
@Jim_Purcell They confirmed the Western release of those as well!
@yoshinatsu
Yeah, In my eyes those two are the real big news.
I will buy day 1because i like the ds game but probably wont play it for a while. If it came to switch i would play it right away too.
I am beyond happy that this is getting a western release. The original is one of my favorite rpgs not only on the ds but overall. I'm not a huge fan of the redrawn artwork for the remake as I would have rather had them keep the original art intact. Oh well. Can't get everything.
I am somewhat worried that this is going to suffer the same fate as the original as it came out during the twilight years of the DS and a month before the 3ds launched. Seeing a 2018 release date for a niche JRPG on the 3DS, a system on its last legs has me screaming de ja vu all over again.
3ds lives on!!!
Does this also apply to Europe? We never got Strange Journey here in the first place
@azelf Well
Well
The game opening they released for this remake a while ago along with the general artstyle have already soured my hype for this a hell of a lot, as both were positively dreadful.
I loved the DS original, and I don't know about the gameplay for its remake, but presentation-wise it already feels like a nosedive. Like they wanted to inject mass appeal into a rather grim, mature JRPG and missed the point entirely.
I mean, I'll still give it a go when it's out - localization news are always good news - but I doubt I'll get half as much enjoyment out of it as the original gave me.
I really hope "the west" includes Europe this time around!
@RainbowGazelle Deep Silver will be publishing this game. They're the current distributors for select Atlus/Sega titles!
Great news to be honest
The 3DS is immortal.
'North America' isn't synonymous with 'the west'. No word about EU release yet.
Can't wait to play these games! Never played RH or Strange Journey on the DS but I look forward to having a blast with the remakes. EOV will probably be the first in the series for me, so I'm excited for that as well!
Glad the 3DS lives on. With Ultra Sun and EO5 my 3DS will still get some playtime out of me.
3DS is gonna live forever! o/ (2)
@Dakt Really? That's fantastic news to me.
Oh my silly me. I thought that SMTIV Apocalypse in January this year would be my final 3ds game...how wrong I was.
Fire Emblem, Radiant Historia, Yokai Watch 2 final version, maybe ultra sun and maybe ever Oasis.
And the only reason to no buy FE Warriors on New 3DS is because I have a Switch.
3DSis a true gem, and shows how much a dated device can bring amazing game to players.
It really annoys me when sites say bringing "insert niche game" west and in fact its only to NA.
Day one buy for me next year. Don't have a Switch and probably wouldn't play it even if I did. I do all my gaming on my 3DS. The kids use the Wii U and PS4 more than I do.
Switch version or go away
Yes please =)
Awesome, I'll get it day one after I sell away the old DS version.
I was just thinking about this. Glad to know that it's still coming!
This + Etrian Odyssey and SMT Strange Journey
3DS still going strong for JRPG fans
@Jim_Purcell
You just got your wish. That didn't take long.

I should be hyped for this, since I always meant to get around to playing the original, but with how recklessly they're changing up the character design, I'm leaning towards giving this a pass. Really unfortunate.
It looks the part and one that might break me away from the switch...maybe.
If the Switch turns out to be 3/4 of the Rpg powerhouse the 3ds has been it will be quite an amazing system .. exciting time to be a Nintendo fan !
Hmm...not sure if I'll get it or not since i have original DS version.
Also, why do ppl think 2 remakes and 1 new game = 3DS is alive and WELL?
Eh. I still haven't finished the original - not interested in effectively buying the game again with some slight changes/new content - and I'm not liking the ... design changes I've seen so far, so this is probably a skip for me.
Good! I want to actually buy it this time, as I first played it from a rental and then bought secondhand. I want Atlus to know I want more RH!
Even if I don't necessarily like the new art style, lol.

Switch owner: "3DS why can't you just die already!!??"
3DS owner: "🤣🤣🤣"
After this Atlus needs to release all their games on Switch.
I thought Radiant Historia was a very fun RPG. I definitely recommend it to anyone who missed it the first time.
I never found a copy of the DS version, so this is day one for me!
Atlus is one of companies I have trust in. They are awesome, of course I'm getting it.
Yes! I already have the original DS version, but this is one I still had to pre-order day one — this, as well as Strange Journey Redux & Etrian Odyssey V. I just hope its available at Best Buy eventually, because right now its only at Gamestop & Amazon --- I'm done w/ Gamestop, and don't care for how Amazon's shipments get damaged almost half the time.
I just wish they brought Strange Journey & Radiant Historia to The Switch. Would love to play both on a bigger screen.
