I see from the comments that few people have actually played it. It is a really good Smash-clone and considered the best one. This news pleases me and a fair few Smashers who wanted a hardcore Smash-clone itch scratched.
The developer in question even created a Smash Bros fan-game long ago before it. It was called Super Smash Land and that itself was a great game. This developer knows what he is doing when it comes to Smash-clones.
I would not throw this out the window so early and instead watch it closely.
It makes perfect sense. If they are going out of their way to make a western voiced movie for Detective Pikachu, they were definitely going to make the 3DS title localized. Can not wait!
@PipeGuy64Bit I wouldn't mind seeing a fully-3D attempt from them. I think that Wayforward are one of the few companies out there that could fully-3D without any compromises. They know how to craft excellently beautiful games that are also simplistic. A very fine combination
@mateq They really aren't. Here in the south they are frankly awful. I know myself how bad it is. To the point I have told them I am closing my account and I am usually a very tolerable person.
There are many others who are like me and have experienced it. Amazon have lost their way.
@Nintendoforlife They basically just threw down the gauntlet to all third parties saying they want a fight. And I have to hand it to Capcom, they have really done a wonder tonight
Just had to have a heated argument with Amazon for delaying my Xenoblade and really was annoyed. Reading this...actually calmed me. A good-hearted deed always has that effect on me.
Those students should be proud of themselves. They did an absolutely amazing thing.
One of my friend's children had his Mario Kart and Zelda stolen. So I raised the funds to replace his Mario Kart and Zelda. Fortunately he got Zelda replaced already so I got him Odyssey instead
It's wonderful to see others doing great deeds like this
Well hopefully the reviews will show the wait was worth it. If I recall it was a 5 or a 6 before the updates. Given its troubled development, it would need to see some serious score raisers to get me back.
This is coming from a Wii U backer. Their mucking Nintendo fans around really annoyed me.
So far the problem seems to be only with Take Two Interactive games. You don't hear this many people complaining about the way DOOM was handled. All three of their games have required a download with physical.
I'd say that speaks far more volume than anything here. I don't think it is a problem with Nintendo. I think it is a problem with Take Two Interactive.
I knew there would be a Direct and I am hyped for it! Nintendo always does a November direct worldwide and has done since 2012. Usually they only do 1 though in November for everyone. And with December not as frequent this is probably our last Direct of the year.
Enjoy the show folks! Hopefully it is a corker of a Direct! (Please make Amiibo or at least use them...)
The game truly deserves it. It is the first Mario game I have completely and utterly enjoyed. Every other one has had some problem which causes me to dislike it. Typically the controls. But the game work so well and is such a masterpiece my feet can't stop tapping to the music. I am having an absolute blast playing it and I dare say it is better than Zelda. And I'm an Zelda fan!
I think the main issue for me is that when we have all moved on from the Switch. When the online servers for Switch services are closed, we have no chance of playing LA Noire and other games that follow these practices anymore. It becomes dead space.
If you want convenience you have to pay for it. I get that. So I will happily pay more to have a cartridge version that is going to last longer than disc. But when the cartridge can not hold the entire game, there is a problem. DOOM did this right by keeping the optional stuff as a download.
But you could argue that this is Nintendo's problem. But yet it is only Take Two/their developers who are having this problem. Bethesda seem to be having an easier time working on these limitations. The problem lies in everyone's courts. Nintendo needs to make it easier for the developers but the developers need to know how to compress their software. The publishers also need to know when to foot the bill.
So far, not a single title in my collection requires a download to play despite all of them being physical. I cancelled my LA Noire pre-order so I can focus on titles that allow me to play them regardless of the online service's status.
For me personally, Nintendo needs to make the cartridges cheaper. Developers need to remember to downsize and compress. Publishers need to foot the bills. Only then can we get the games we want without these sort of issues
Can I just say the amiibo for this game is sublime. Some of the best quality I have seen in amiibo yet and the interchangeable riders makes a nice touch.
Such a shame they are not coming to the UK. I had to import mine.
There are many people out there who genuinely want to help. As well as those who are just scum.
One of my fellow cosplayer friends had their bag stolen at MCM in May containing their Switch, cosplay and games. So I have been raising funds to replace their games. So far I have replaced Mario Kart and well on my way to replacing Zelda
I don't normally like to give sugar hope as it leads to disappointment but there were two facts (assuming true) about Ubisoft and Beyond Good & Evil that spring hope there
-Ubisoft requested more power for the Switch, Nintendo crammed in more power -Beyond Good & Evil 2 has been developed to support various platforms. No confirmed platforms yet
Sorry for the delay! Coding and life got in the way! (Hey that rhymed )
@crackafreeze It's the only reason I would accept
@Anguspuss I am sure I could use a helping hand when it nears completion (Also, female Doctor? Awesome!)
@MegaVel91 I will admit there were times I almost gave up but being able to say "I MADE THAT" is a great motivation tool
@RyanSilberman Awesome what games are you making?
@GamePerson19 @nessisonett Two things I am glad I learnt at the start. Stick with 2D for the basics and use Game Maker Studio. 2D allows you to focus on gameplay and start getting into it straight away and Game Maker Studio prepares you for environments like Visual Studio and whatnot. I can easily recommend both!
@Dpullam Nothing yet as it is pre-Alpha but I will say for any sneak peaks we have done, the results have been fantastic compared to our last game ^_^
@easygoingthief Actually I am both. I self-taught myself in some languages and was taught in others at university. It made me a powerhouse at programming.
And thanks for the interest! It's times like these that give me and my team the drive to finish. If YoYoGames ever confirm Game Maker support for the Switch I will be porting every game we have to it. Even if it delays our current game!
Really wouldn't hold your breath everyone. The reason for the Wii U version being scrapped is still in effect for the Switch. YoYoGames to my knowledge have not announced any support for the Nintendo Switch. And their engine was the one powering Hyper Light Drifter
@Anguspuss I am focusing on two passions of mine. 16-bit games and superheroes. So I am developing a 16-bit RPG inspired by Doctor Who, 16-Bit RPGs and the Batman Arkham series
Lately I have been coding the cutscenes annd I must say since my last RPG it is definitely better. It is all about the learning
@MegaVel91 I release my own game. It won't sell millions but I make games to improve my development skills. And next year is a massive leg-up for me compared to last year.
I'm a developer for passion rather than for money ^_^
@MegaVel91 From my personal experience it is not. Even as a hobbyist developer, I barely have any evenings to myself. The life of a developer is not for the weak of heart. It requires a lot of strength to go on through.
@MegaVel91 It's true. Many of my Indie Developer friends are not as lucky as me and have their hopes and ideas stomped into the ground. They become dead and buried like daffodils only to rise later and decay once again.
For every great idea from an Indie there are a 100 that perish and die.
@Fred13 Now you see that is bizarre. Because over here in the UK the success I have had is nigh on madness and the stuff dreams are made of.
I managed to grab 8 copies of the FE Fates Special Edition for me and my friends. I have every Amiibo with never a problem getting them. I got a Switch at launch and waltzed into a GAME last month and picked up another. Same sort of trick happened with the NES Mini. I now have plenty of SNES Mini pre-orders for me and my friends. The list of success stories goes on and on and on.
Could it be that this is NOT a Nintendo issue but specifically a Nintendo of America issue? Because I have never heard of Europe having an issue with stock (although I would like to be proven wrong so normality resumes).

From what my friends have said, Rivals of Aether plays exactly like a Smash game.
