Re: Former Nintendo Execs Fear We Might Be Waiting A While For A 3D Mario On Switch 2, Thanks To Donkey Kong

I don't get how anyone can expect anything from Nintendo. Just enjoy how prolific they are. I get it, folk (especially Youtubers chasing clout) really want to try to 'get' Nintendo and predict what makes 'perfect sense' for them, but that building of artists think waaay more intelligently than "we need to make a 3D Mario game."

I want a 3D Mario game as much as the next guy, but instead of thinking it needs to be a launch title to rake in those sales (perfect sense) I'm happy to wait till they have a new idea that suits him. I mean, they have said time and time again, they come up with a game idea then decide which ip suits best.

Re: Rumour: Final Fantasy Devs Supposedly Hint At Another Nintendo Release

If they want to conquer Nintendo fans, they need to appreciate the fans and give them what they want. They conquered the SNES pretty much. It's doable. But we love games to the point of wanting to hold them, not use them and have nothing to show for it.
(And yes I get it, I'm old school and the Switch is so popular it's going to have more nodern mainstream players who don't seem to think like that. But they will never match Nintendo on their own system again until they start following their example of physical media.)
It's easy for a CEO to think in terms of cost cutting rather than maximising sales. Diffcult decisions my a$$. They need firing.

I’m in the Uk. People I work with are struggling to get hold of one. It’s a case of them dropping on! Honestly incredible how folk don’t get commerce and come up with horseshit to justify their denial. Devs struggle with Switch 2? Tell that to projected. If you can’t see Switch is in line for continuing Switch success then just keep quiet and play more games lol. Nintendo are the most popular I can ever recall! (And that’s a long time ahem)

Re: Best Mario Kart Games Of All Time

No discerning Nintendo fan puts MKDD in second place lol. We were begging for a 'normal' MK back in the day lol. To be honest, the write up of it doean't convince anyone it's deserving of it's place when you yourselves mistake it's main unique game idea as...a gimmick.
And World was done dirty. Even with a more positive write up. Weird.

Re: Poll: Do You Three-Star-Gold Every Mario World Grand Prix Before Moving On To The Next?

GrailUK

I play through 50cc then 100cc and get three stars on every GP (I mean, on first attempt usually, it's not hard.) before even seeing 150cc. It's a ritual because after that...let the chaos begin. You never go back lol. (Unless someone has bever played it.) And besides, I'm old school. That kind of thing adds longevity to your game. If you fast track through anything, no game is worth buying day one.

@Anti-Matter Fella, you started that wall of text basically saying anyone on a Nintendo centric site is defending Nintendo. That betrays your mindset off the bat. If everyone is defending then you are positioning your objective opinion as an attack lol. I’m happy you enjoy your PS5. I get we are a lovely community here better than most but come on. You are in the wrong room lol.

@DTfearTheBEARD I have a Switch 2. I think the console is lovely and way better than I expected. But, I am about the games not the hardware. Mario Kart is everything I wanted it to be. You check out any MK9 prediction forum and I was wanting more platforming (I mean, it's a Mario game!) Cyberpunk is just brilliant. I don't like first person shooters and I'm hooked in! (Love how some quests have foreshadowing to some of the moral choices you have to make later. Really intelligent) Aand Breath of the Wild is lush (still) Absoultely chill game. Should keep me going for a while

@Paraka I'm not sure that's correct. Wii was fully backwards compatible with Gamecube. WiiU could play Wii games. I'll not even mention their handhelds. So the narrative that Nintendo doesn't do bc is a bit disingenuous. It maybe has sometimes felt a bit clunky because home console form factors tended to change lol. Still, I am blown away with how good it is (better than I thought it was going to be if I'm honest) and super excited to see what Nintendo craft over the next 8 years.

People complaining that Switch 2 isn't different enough;
1) Don't appreciate how good a concept Switch was and are probably still in denial of how successful it was. It was so good they are still riding that train.
2) Don't know exactly what they actually wanted it to be lol.

It's an opinion that really takes Nintendo's creativity for granted and trivialised to the point of it ignoring all the little touches they've added to Switch 2. Infuriating. Especially since the console they probably prefer hasn't really evolved since it's first iteration lol.

Re: Digital Foundry Delivers Its Mario Kart World Tech Review - "Nintendo's Artistry Stands Out The Most Here"

I'm going to try to articulate what I love about the game. Mario games (the main platforming ones) have always had an unobtrusive skill curve. You can either collect a star / get to the end of a level one way or you can triple jump onto an enemy and back flip into it. It kinda allowed showboating if you will. And ever since the SNES Super Mario Kart and the feather allowing short cuts, I have wanted them to expand that idea for yeeears! So yeah, I am super happy with the game.
I see some people complain about the open world, but if they put their hand on their heart, if it wasn't, they would be wishing they could go off road and leave the circuits lol. I mean, I used to land my gyrocopter in Pilotwings 64 and just go driving around lol.
Game looks lovely to my eyes. I don't need to sit 5 inches from a monitor ruining my eyesight till I need glasses to appreciate that lol.

Re: Hardware Review (In Progress): Nintendo Switch 2 - A Faster, Slicker, Sexier Switch

GrailUK

I have Mario Kart World, Cyberpunk 2077 and Zelda Breath of the Wild S2E and...

I mean i was kinda tongue in cheak when I said it in another article but it really is a Switch 2 AND a Switch Pro. It feels beautifiul to hold (much better than Switch) the games run amzingly well (much better than Switch) and the UI remains uncluttered and functional.

In short, the Switch became my favourite console ever made and Switch 2 is that, but much better. I wanted an NES to SNES type upgrade and got it in spades.

It's so good, I am actually grateful for Game Key Cards...I'm not touching them with a barge pole (I get them, they are a great solution to a problem I don't agree with and is being pushed on us) but if everything was physical, I dread to think what my bank balance and backlog will be like in a couple of years!

Here's to the next 8 years. I do hope we are spared the obligatory compromises and sacrifices in order to get the game to work negative points in reviews. All that does is review a game assuming it's running on more powerful hardware which I can't get my head around. Wish reviews were more Switch 2 centric. But I digress. This thing is going to outsell the first console. It is honestly better than what I was hoping it would be. Blown away.
