Re: Digital Foundry Delivers Its Mario Kart World Tech Review - "Nintendo's Artistry Stands Out The Most Here"

GrailUK

I'm going to try to articulate what I love about the game. Mario games (the main platforming ones) have always had an unobtrusive skill curve. You can either collect a star / get to the end of a level one way or you can triple jump onto an enemy and back flip into it. It kinda allowed showboating if you will. And ever since the SNES Super Mario Kart and the feather allowing short cuts, I have wanted them to expand that idea for yeeears! So yeah, I am super happy with the game.
I see some people complain about the open world, but if they put their hand on their heart, if it wasn't, they would be wishing they could go off road and leave the circuits lol. I mean, I used to land my gyrocopter in Pilotwings 64 and just go driving around lol.
Game looks lovely to my eyes. I don't need to sit 5 inches from a monitor ruining my eyesight till I need glasses to appreciate that lol.

Re: Hardware Review (In Progress): Nintendo Switch 2 - A Faster, Slicker, Sexier Switch

GrailUK

I have Mario Kart World, Cyberpunk 2077 and Zelda Breath of the Wild S2E and...

I mean i was kinda tongue in cheak when I said it in another article but it really is a Switch 2 AND a Switch Pro. It feels beautifiul to hold (much better than Switch) the games run amzingly well (much better than Switch) and the UI remains uncluttered and functional.

In short, the Switch became my favourite console ever made and Switch 2 is that, but much better. I wanted an NES to SNES type upgrade and got it in spades.

It's so good, I am actually grateful for Game Key Cards...I'm not touching them with a barge pole (I get them, they are a great solution to a problem I don't agree with and is being pushed on us) but if everything was physical, I dread to think what my bank balance and backlog will be like in a couple of years!

Here's to the next 8 years. I do hope we are spared the obligatory compromises and sacrifices in order to get the game to work negative points in reviews. All that does is review a game assuming it's running on more powerful hardware which I can't get my head around. Wish reviews were more Switch 2 centric. But I digress. This thing is going to outsell the first console. It is honestly better than what I was hoping it would be. Blown away.

Re: Preview: Mario Kart World's True Genius Is Its Movement, Not Its World

Everything I have seen about this game looks so well crafted. Theres no pop in, the animation is subtly sublime on everything from the characters to water. Buttery smooth. Nintendo seems to have an abilty to create an open world that feels more like a massive video game level than well...an actual open world! There's more platforming (something I had hoped for!) and the level track design looks to provide plenty of opportunities for it. It just looks phenomenal!

Re: Sega Says It Will Stop The New Virtua Fighter Project If It's Not "Good Enough"

I mean, I get the sentiment. That level of integrity shown with Metroid Prime 4 was a breath of fresh air and look at the result!! However, it's not something you lay on the table from the off. I mean, if it's not good enough and released, then you are going to look an idiot! It's more a realisation of a project in development, this feels like a threat lol. Feels like a power move...and they aren't cool lol. Dunno, saying stuff like this doesn't sit right with me. I mean, going back to Metroid Prime 4, that wasn't working, they didn't just stop, the went back to the drawing board. Just saying, stuff like this should be internal.

Re: Rumour: A Nintendo Direct May Drop Around The Switch 2's Launch

GrailUK

They had a Direct the following month after the Switch launch. So it's a conservative guess that there will be one a couple of weeks after the Switch 2 launch. But, the week after? I don't know. I would have thought they would be wanting people to buy the launch titles. If there is a Direct, then I would only expect a couple of first party SW2 titles (I know Youtube hype merchants will be hoping they splurge out plans for every concievable franchise...but we all know how Nintendo like to have a steady pace / long game.), some third party headlines and quite a few Switch 1 games (Metroid Prime 4 for example.)

Re: Nintendo: "Appetite" For Mario Kart And Series' Accessibility Makes It Ideal For Switch 2's Launch

GrailUK

This is the way I see it.
Nintendo stated they were starting from scratch with the Switch. And if that's their NES reset then I am sooo equating Switch 2 with a SNES.
This generation I will be looking for games that can scratch the Super Mario Kart, Shadowrun, Final Fantasy 6, Zelda, Cybernator, Street Fighter 2 and Super Mario World itch (amongst countless more!) in a more modern way. And to be honest, so far, with games like Mario Kart World, Cyberpunk2077, Daemon X Machina, Street Fighter 6 and FF Rebirth I cannot express how excited I am for this next Nintendo gen. Cannot wait for Mario and Zelda's next big games. It already feels like ip are back in a meaningful way and not just ports of the old gen stuff.
The sole sour grape is key cards. I will be praying to any God that will listen that someone, somewhere brings these accorss physically. June 5th cannot come quick enough!

Re: Nintendo Switch 2 Final Tech Specs Have Been Confirmed

GrailUK

It's depressing these days that folk can't look at a game and decide for themselves if it looks fun or not. Instead they need greylords like digital foundry to suck all the joy out of something to acertain if it looks good or not.

Does having 3gb of ram reserved for gamechat mean Mario Kart World doesn't look good anymore? Does it mean CDPR have actually worked harder to fit the game on Switch 2 (which by some people's headcanon metric means they should be charging more for the game..) It's all nonsense to me. Play what you want. Life is too short.
