@Liam_Doolan Any chance you guys can at some point do an article about monitors. It sounds like it's time I upgraded to get the most out of the Switch 2, but 4K, 1440p, 120 Hz...I don't know what I'm takling about If a game isn't 4K does it look weird on a 4K TV and viceversa. That sort of thing.
This looks like one of the most intuitive games I have ever seen. I hope it's as inclusive and accessible as it looks. As much as I'm all about the gameplay, it's a shame they haven't given it the Arms treatment and given wheelchair sports enthusiasts something to be proud of. It's just lacking that sense of...I dunno...celebration. Or maybe just a bit more colour would have been nice.
@Liam_Doolan Please someone at Nintendolife do some journalistic snooping and see if there is any scope / plans for Limited Run to release physical versions of key card games. Weren't they invited to Nintendo for some early Switch 2 showing or something?
Interesting results. It's clear I am going to be swayed much more this upcoming gen by whether or not the game is on the cart. As such, I am actually tempted by Hitman and Hogwarts (even though I have never read / watched a Harry Potter book . film!) @Ottoecamn I'll be picking that up. It looked ace and I liked the first one.
@TimelessJubilee Totally. Bunch of snobs that suck the joy out of everything. Really gets my goat folk using them to win 'arguements' that are really just opinions.
Hi! Dave from Digital Floundering here. Fairly conclusively I can say this is NOT a generational leap at all. I mean, look at Mario. He hasn’t aged a day older than Mario Kart 8. Maybe he’s had surgery (like DK) but it’s hard to gauge from our test footage.
Is that even a serious question? Anyone with eyes can see it is. It looks much more cinematic than 8D. At least there was no condescending laughter whilst talking about Nintendo in this video.
"I blame Nintendo for these difficult times. They should eat the tariffs and give their software to everyone for free." - the internet.
My buying habits have taken a knock but I'm not adverse to having to be more discerning, I just want the 6 games at launch. (/s)
Seriously though, another reason physical is important is retailers can run promotions or even use as a loss leader. Heck, they even have a second hand market. Digital is totally at the mercy of the distributer. Folk are idiotic for choosing digital because they can't get off their arse to change a game.
The Banjo-Kazooie ip has a long journey ahead of it. The appearence in Smash was a good start, but they need to keep going else they will be back to square one again. Anything faithful will do, I don't think it would be wise to reinvent the duo and leave folk wondering what has happened (especially after such a long wait.)
I'm getting this. I loved Jungle Beat, it'sone of my favourite games and this looks to have captured the vibes. Oooh, I wonder if they will release NSO drum controllers...
Their games look much more cinematic (and gratefully not because of more cutscenes!) Characters have much more vibrancy and energy! DKs new design lends itself to this and makes Rare's design look like he's had botox! I wanted more platforming (I even asked for the feather to return!) and it looks like they listened. I'm already excited. The races look like they are going to be a lot of fun and in typical Nintendo fashion don't replace Mario Kart 8Us
Ok, Predictions.
Smokey and the Bandit mode. You have a boot full of mushrooms and have a short time to make it to the border. Koopa Troopas hot on your tail.
Designated construction site areas in the world where you can build your own track. Or maybe you can earn a permit to build one.
Erm..will it have a battle mode?
Seasonal changes like Animal Crossing. Somethng servicey but free.
GAmecube's line up blew me away. Rogue Squadron was the most epic Star Wars game I'd ever seen, Luigi's Mansion was nothing but charming and well, I fell in love with Super Monkey Ball. On it's own, I think Mario 64 is the single greatest launch game ever (with pilotwings 64 not that far behind.) Switch 2 I think sets out it's intent from the off. Mario Kart World looks cinematic (as does DK. I think Nintendo have levelled up if that is even possible!) And Cyberpunk 2077 looks phenomenal.
Can I play the bloody game first lol. What am I supposed to do with this 'news'? If it's as bigas they say it is, then dlc for anyone is going to be a tough sell right off the bat. Jeez, why must Youtube always try to get so far in front. I'm surprised we haven't had Switch 3 rumours yet...
Mario Kart already looks like a 10 despite still not knowing everything about it!
There was a nice bit in the DK trailer where he punches a baddie, then kicks it's remains into another. So hopefully there is some combo action going on. Otherwise, spamming punch everywhere might get a bit staid. We'll see.
@tobsesta99 I'm not going to say hardcore is exclusively PC / Steam. I thought that word died years ago. All it means is someone who plays a lot of games. I think my point stil stands. It's not going to touch Switch 2 sales. And I'm sure Stem Deck will still sell to PC gamers who want a handheld experience (although most like to wallow in dark bedrooms and sit in stupid chairs lol.) And saying one is going to kill the other is just a headline. Nothing more because it's a bit silly.
Hi, Dave from Digital Floundering here. We constructed a steel cage surrounded with barbed wired and a hostile crowd and threw both consoles into the ring. We watched for hours running every statistical analysing construct we knew as both consoles...just sat there where they laid. Turns out, pieces of plastic no matter how technically proficient can't fight. Still, we declared the Steam Deck the winner because it's not made by Nintendo.
Seriously though, the steamdeck has sold less than the Wii U. It's already dead outside of Twitter and Youtube.
If they can make it genuinely fun to explore and find new 'rewards' eveywhere, then it sounds like the game has a lot of craft. If it's just a generic open world with no point in exporing, then they are in trouble.
@bransby Well, the article is about a dev putting a massive game on to physical cart. It's been on the way out for years but will never truely disappear. People still buy vinyl records! Hopefully, it will be successful and indicate it's still worthwhile.
@Greenspan They still are the last man standing. Their first party games are still on the cart. Third parties are third parties and will third party. Up to them if they want my money, not that my money is any different to the thousands who have adopted digital.

I was quite content expecting an NES to SNES type upgrade, but damn, Nintendo have gone straight to Gamecube.

@sixrings Thanks mate. Don't worry, I'm simple too. And I just love being able to play outside especially on days like this.

@sixrings Not with that form factor. Don't be so black and white.

£395.99 should keep plenty of the riff raff out.

I don't have any questions. I know what the console is, I know what games I'm grabbing and how much it will cost me. SOLD!
Looking forward to it's next Direct! Don't suppose you could find out when that is?
