Re: Rumour: A Nintendo Direct Is Reportedly Coming Ahead Of Mario's 40th Anniversary

GrailUK

Folk wanting a Direct to announce the "missing games" i.e. stuff they know about is crazy lol. Is that so they can all collectively say "I told you so" or "I called it." (Despite everyone singing from the same web page hehe.)
I'm not expecting a 3D Mario game anytime soon (and besides, there are many more ways to celebrate an anniversary than releasing a game lol! Could be news about the next film for example.) Hopefully Nintendo surprise us. Sooo, if we get some sort of Mario 99 online, or a Switch 2 upgrade for something, I think that would be nice. Pushing the boat out, maybe they could slap Mario in an all new ip. That would be very cool. But again, it's not something you have to do because intellectual property has a 0 at the end of it's age lol.

Re: Opinion: We Need To Talk About X Games

GrailUK

I'm ok with x denoting a crossover. something x something is a cool way of saying it. But replacing 'and' is a bit needless lol. And I dare say the exclamation marks for showtime and move it were appropriate. Imagine just saying move it or showtime really unenthusiastically lol. Wouldn't really get a crowd motivated.

Re: Yooka-Replaylee Appears To Be Getting A Proper Physical Release For Switch 2

@DTFaux Of course key cards were a cost cutting exercise by large third parties.Nintendo don't use them. It's obviously a third party incentive. They (EA / Ubisoft / Square / Capcom etc have their sights on a digital only world to eliminate the cost of actually manufacturing anything (and those savings do not get passed on to the consumer!) It's at odds with how Nintendo operate. So I do applaud Nintendo for trying to inject a sense of ownership to digital media...but resent third parties that choose to use them. It's a solution to a greed problem. Not cool.

Re: Japanese Charts: Mario Kart World Gets Back To Demolishing The Competition

GrailUK

Couple of things.
1) It would be interesting to see the split between full fat and region locked SKUs. Kinda odd they don't differentiate.
2) Where are the key-cards? Not a single one in the charts. Hopefully this is a strong signal to publishers outside of Nintendo.
3) Coming into the business end of the year and blimey, if sales are this high already, Q3 is going to historical!

Re: Revived Publisher Acclaim Is Teasing Something For Next Week

GrailUK

I'm honestly at a loss to think what they could announce outside of new games. 90% of their games were licensed. Doubt it would be any of them. The other 10% are owned by other people. Alien 3, Burnout and Extreme G would all be welcomed back. But like I said, I don't see it so I'll wait to be surprised. I can't even think of a mascot platdormer they did...

Re: Review: Drag x Drive (Switch 2) - A Real Baller With Friends, But Is There Enough To Do?

GrailUK

This could quite possibly be the least Nintendo looking Nintendo game I have ever seen! It works and I bet there will be a really small, loyal fanbase for it, but so much gets lost from being so tonally equivalent everywhere. Not to mention the lack of expression from the characters. Weird artistic choices. Do we know which team made this? I'd be almost tempted to say a Western team.

Re: Nintendo Won't Let Charity Speedrunning Event Use Its Games Without Permission, Because Of Course

GrailUK

@Milk_ You are really blowing this out of proportion lol. You are taught at school to get permission. And at higher level education, required to ask for permission to reference anything. It's...nah mate. What you on about? As for large events etc, Nintendo and the event organisers enter a partnership deal. And it sounds like this event has become a large official event. So they just need to do things properly going forward. Now, I don't think it's a very big deal. Certainly not much effort. And it probably takes less time to do than this potential back and forth.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Indie World Showcase Predictions - What Do You Hope To See?

GrailUK

Oh, always fun to predict Indies.
Umm...
1) Wrong place, wrong time. A game where you are against the clock and have to escape various unlucky situations. Burning buildings, bank roberies etc.
2) Bedroom Coder. Create a game and see how successful it becomes. Choose to go full on indie or sell it to a company. Careful, if it's too buggy, you'll never be allowed on forums again!
3) A game where you control a pair of scissors.
and
4) Home Alone tower defence. Craft make shift weapons and set traps to defend your home.

There we go. Should continue my 100% miss streak!
