Stuff like this speaks volumes about the publisher to be honest. No sense in blaming the hardware for not letting Ubisoft cash in on pressing a button lol.
I imported a physical copy of this (comes with the sequel Platform 8.) It has such a unique vibe. And it's nice there isn't too much going on. After all, they don't want you to be enjoying your stay there lol.
@Jhena it’s usually weighted on one week when we miss data (because of a holiday) so 90k a week is probably not accurate. Could be like 120k 60k. I usually go by 60k a week is superb. So 35k this week is low, but it is the quietest point of the year so still good.
Folk wanting a Direct to announce the "missing games" i.e. stuff they know about is crazy lol. Is that so they can all collectively say "I told you so" or "I called it." (Despite everyone singing from the same web page hehe.)
I'm not expecting a 3D Mario game anytime soon (and besides, there are many more ways to celebrate an anniversary than releasing a game lol! Could be news about the next film for example.) Hopefully Nintendo surprise us. Sooo, if we get some sort of Mario 99 online, or a Switch 2 upgrade for something, I think that would be nice. Pushing the boat out, maybe they could slap Mario in an all new ip. That would be very cool. But again, it's not something you have to do because intellectual property has a 0 at the end of it's age lol.
I'm ok with x denoting a crossover. something x something is a cool way of saying it. But replacing 'and' is a bit needless lol. And I dare say the exclamation marks for showtime and move it were appropriate. Imagine just saying move it or showtime really unenthusiastically lol. Wouldn't really get a crowd motivated.
@DTFaux Of course key cards were a cost cutting exercise by large third parties.Nintendo don't use them. It's obviously a third party incentive. They (EA / Ubisoft / Square / Capcom etc have their sights on a digital only world to eliminate the cost of actually manufacturing anything (and those savings do not get passed on to the consumer!) It's at odds with how Nintendo operate. So I do applaud Nintendo for trying to inject a sense of ownership to digital media...but resent third parties that choose to use them. It's a solution to a greed problem. Not cool.
@HammerGalladeBro I do applaud the idea of digital with a higher degree of ownership. It’s no replacement to true physical. Would be good to get greater insight into how they are tracked but I dare say you are right 😀
Couple of things. 1) It would be interesting to see the split between full fat and region locked SKUs. Kinda odd they don't differentiate. 2) Where are the key-cards? Not a single one in the charts. Hopefully this is a strong signal to publishers outside of Nintendo. 3) Coming into the business end of the year and blimey, if sales are this high already, Q3 is going to historical!
I'm honestly at a loss to think what they could announce outside of new games. 90% of their games were licensed. Doubt it would be any of them. The other 10% are owned by other people. Alien 3, Burnout and Extreme G would all be welcomed back. But like I said, I don't see it so I'll wait to be surprised. I can't even think of a mascot platdormer they did...
This will need a big splash event. It doesn't half half the draw of Mario Kart. Even if it's closer to a traditional racer. We'll have to wait and see if it's a deep dive in gameplay elements or if the content goes beyond purely racing...might even be both!
This could quite possibly be the least Nintendo looking Nintendo game I have ever seen! It works and I bet there will be a really small, loyal fanbase for it, but so much gets lost from being so tonally equivalent everywhere. Not to mention the lack of expression from the characters. Weird artistic choices. Do we know which team made this? I'd be almost tempted to say a Western team.
Well, no one can question Limited Run's ethics surrounding preservation making these games physical! Is Bubsy well regarded these days or has some influencer latched on to it knowing everyone thinks these games are rubbish and they can have a unique spin by being contrarian lol. Nooo idea.
I don't see why they would be a priority whilst they are being listened to in situ whilst playing current games. Maybe someone's ocd is playing up lol.
@CANOEberry Again, all that's happened is a large event neglected to request using another companies product in Japan. I'm sure they'll sort it out for next year.
@AussieMcBucket That's the whole point of predicting Indies Every youtuber and their granny reads forums and rumours and regurgitates what's considered 'known.' I could say Silksong...but where is the fun in that?
@Milk_ You are really blowing this out of proportion lol. You are taught at school to get permission. And at higher level education, required to ask for permission to reference anything. It's...nah mate. What you on about? As for large events etc, Nintendo and the event organisers enter a partnership deal. And it sounds like this event has become a large official event. So they just need to do things properly going forward. Now, I don't think it's a very big deal. Certainly not much effort. And it probably takes less time to do than this potential back and forth.
Oh, always fun to predict Indies.
Umm...
1) Wrong place, wrong time. A game where you are against the clock and have to escape various unlucky situations. Burning buildings, bank roberies etc.
2) Bedroom Coder. Create a game and see how successful it becomes. Choose to go full on indie or sell it to a company. Careful, if it's too buggy, you'll never be allowed on forums again!
3) A game where you control a pair of scissors.
and
4) Home Alone tower defence. Craft make shift weapons and set traps to defend your home.
@rjejr Well, depends doesn't it. If you sink 1000 hours in cyberpunk, it's not so bad I would say. Better than having loads of games in a backlog. Different strokes for different folks.
@YinYangYoshi I’m not a moron lol. But charity isn’t a free pass. Mountains and molehills. Heck sometimes when you ask they want to help! And besides, sometimes harmless events end up in some sort of controversy. I don’t think it’s a big deal.
@rjejr I can't process your last comment. Surely you would have MORE disposable income if you bought the console AND bought "the rest" of the games? (I mean...that sounds like a lot!) Still makes no sense to me lol.
@Morph Nah, just part of the news cycle. After this we'll get tweets about Drag X Drive that will take us on to September...with a general Direct. It's how they work It's getting boring saying this, but July and August (ie. summer) is ALWAYS quiet and I guess 'disappointing.'
@B_Lindz If this is Nintendo on their back foot, Sony and Microsoft must be relieved they aren't on their front one! They are releasing a game a month. We've had 8 years to get used to it lol. And summer is the quietest part of the year. Patience till September

Oh and cheapening out using a keycard.

@N00BiSH I don't share that opinion of the company. Sorry.

No physical release?
Re: Rumour: Sony Is Gunning For The Switch 2 With A Handheld, Dockable PS6
@Olliemar28 we have already had the game changer. Switch was it! Sony are just being cynical.

Where do they get their ideas from? (/s)
Seriously, if we ever have to rely on Sony to reinvigorate the gaming industry...we are screwed!

2 million in the US. 2 million in Japan. Nintendo are going to have to manufacture a truck load for the holidays!
Re: Switch 2 Sales In The US Are Outpacing The Original Console By 75%
I just don't get the denial. Switch is super successful. And make no mistake, Switch 2 is still riding that train...only sitting in first class lol.
Re: UK Charts: Nintendo's First-Party Switch 2 Games Continue To Dominate
I think it's time I accepted that Cyberpunk 2077 has become my favourite game ever...
