Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Switch 2 Cross-Progression Confirmed, Performance & Resolution Detailed

@Pat_trick Right, let me try to spell this out for you.

Nintendo's strategy with Switch was first party games, indies and proven third party games (i.e ones which have done well.) Sure there was the odd miracle port which garned their own success.

Their strategy has not changed with Switch 2.

First party games. Indies. Proven third party games (Cyberpunk, Elden Ring etc etc.) There will be the odd miracle port still.

But the key mistake you are making is, unlike Sony and Microsoft, Nintendo don't let the third party tail wag the dog. They weren't fighting over owning Activision lol. They want to sell their own games primarily. And no one is as prolific as Nintendo.

Switch - PS3 ports with the odd PS4.
Switch 2 - PS4 ports with the odd PS5.

And that kinda undersells both consoles because both punch above their weight.

Hi! Dave from Digital Floundering here to suck the joy out of anything Nintendo do. It's the same experience as my $2000 PC rig but Nintendo. So I found my face looking very serious and stern whilst I was testing it. I cheered up a little once we slapped our analysing data over the top of the gameplay and saw it fell way below my standards of what thousands of pounds worth of silicon can achieve. But if all you are playing games on is a Switch 2, then I'm sure you would have a better time leaning into the screen and staring intently at pixels with a PC.

@tobsesta99 I don't get that reasoning for pricing at all. They've been working on it for 7 weeks. That doesn't sound like an impossible port to me lol. I'll happily pay the going rate for games regardless, but it's more to do with how much entertainment I'm getting from it as opposed to some head canon about how much work they are doing lol. I certainly hope it hasn't been 24 / 7. I wouldn't wish those working conditions on anyone.

Re: Sale Predictions Remain Unchanged Despite Switch 2 Price Concerns

@SuperRetroArt You are correct but being dense at the time. They will have priced in anticipation of tariffs. If the prices go up again, I'll happily concede they were being greedy. If they stay the same, I'm not ignorant enough to think they were somehow exempt. Hell, they may have even underestimated them given the announcement.

Re: Sale Predictions Remain Unchanged Despite Switch 2 Price Concerns

@Lord Yep, because the goods are having to be imported so they get a tariff slapped on them at the docks. The point of tariffs is to encourage people to manufacture in the US to avoid them. Creating jobs. It's also quite a nationalist thing to do. Couple with his authoratarian approach and feathering the upper class nest...you can see why Trump gets labelled a fascist.
The main trouble and why it doesn't work is, you know lazer zone, and you'd come out wondering who got the top score and it was a kid you never even knew was there because he was sniping. Well imagine if everyone did that. Noone would get any points because nothing happens.Just half an hour of camping for nothing. I.e a global recession.

Re: Nintendo pricing.
Before tariffs, the conversation was always $60 games with the odd $70 game. This was where the industry was positioned. Mario Kart was always going to be the latter due to it's ambition. There has been a crystal clear hike. And if you blame Nintendo instead of Trump's tariffs, please stop voting. You've already changed the world order irrevocably.

Re: Hands On: Should 'Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour' Be A Pack-In Game?

GrailUK

I'm surprised it's not free. At the very least it would have taken the edge off of the prices. I guess it's not for everyone, it seems a bit more serious than Astrobot. And the Switch has a lot less room for something like this to live inside it lol. But yeah, Mr Furukawa is taking no prisoners. I'll wait for a review (hahaha, you know there will be one!)

Re: Hands On: I Didn't Think I Could Love BOTW Or TOTK More, Then I Played Them On Switch 2

GrailUK

Folk harp on about frames per second and pixels per inch ad nauseum these days like they are the sole basis for what constitutes a good game. Yet...they don't feel comfortable paying for more. Conversely, so much craft can be put on expression and gameplay that people often overlook it when watching trailers. But lose it on a nice still shot or a character just standing looking badass lol. The wall jumping in Mario Kart was my single fave point of the Direct. Much like how Mario threw cappy in the Odyssey reveal. Same buzz for me. Gameplay. But if you want moar powah, ya pay for it. It's why we upgrade consoles every gen like a nervous twitch lol.

Re: Hands On: Cyberpunk 2077 Might Pull A 'Witcher 3' On Switch 2

@Ryu_Niiyama I played through it on Series S a couple of Christmas's ago and thought it was amazing. (Full disclosure, I don't like first person shooters, but I played the pen and paper when I was a kid and they absolutely nailed the vibe.) It looks to be at the least looking as good as that version. I can't wait to go back

Just watched a video. Jeezus! It looks gorgeous. Ok, I'm sure you are going to get people that will be saying it's inferior to XBox X or a super capable PC they have. That if they want to play it they'll play it on those. But, if you just have a Switch 2 I reckon we will be perfectly happy with this. Man, Day one for me. Cannot wait.

Re: "DROP THE PRICE!!!" Scream Nintendo Fans During Nintendo's Treehouse Live Broadcast

GrailUK

I think anyone can see it's expensive. Everything is these days. Capitalism is broken and needs a hard reset. I'm buying one becaue I've been saving up for one. And I dare say I'll get my moniesworth out of it as I don't have every other game system under the sun. But what I will say is this. The Switch 2 can very well outsell the Switch, but it's not going to beat it without a price cut unlike it's predecessor.

Re: Poll: So, How Would You Rate The Nintendo Switch 2 Direct?

GrailUK

I asked for more platforming in Mario Kart, a 3D DK game, Ridge Racer port (ok, so I hoped it was a collection for Namco Museum 2...but I'll take it.), Cyberpunk 2077. Honestly, as a gamer and a Nintendo fan, I think someone somewhere was reading my mind. Very, very good. Future looks bright!
