Re: PSA: Monster Hunter Stories 3 Switch 2 Trial Demo Now Available, Save Data Carries Over

@MamaSymphonia True! The S2 isn't to be blamed here. Hell, it was able to naturally run MHS2 at rock solid 60 just by raw power without any SW2 patch. It did the same with Bayonetta 3, Disgaea 7, RE6 or Trials of Mana. It can run CP 2077 at 40 fps, Pragmata at 50 average so there's no reason MHS3 should fluctuate that much, even less drop below 20 fps at times like that. RE9 seems to be as well optimized as Pragmata so I don't really understand how Capcom could think that a 20 to 45 fps framerate would be ok for MHS3.

@VoidofLight I meant it is a dedicated SW2 version VS MHS 2 was a SW1 version. MHS2 had the exact same issues on SW1, all were naturally corrected when played on SW2, without even needing a dedicated SW2 patch. I was expecting the game to look less appealing than on PS5 of course but not suffering from the exact same issues the previous entry was suffering. Why not dropping the resolution a bit, removing some unnecessary effects to get it to run at 60 at all time? Or do same as Digimon on PS5 : 30 during exploration, 60 during combats. This would have been perfectly fine. Seeing a framerate going non stop from 20 to 45-50 is very unpleasant and can make a gorgeous game feel horrible to play.

@OmnitronVariant Exactly! I tried Pragmata's demo on both SW2 and PS5 and I would say it does run significantly better than MHS 3 on SW2. We can feel that it doesn't always hit 60 fps but the drops aren't that bad. I'd say it is fluctuating between 45 an 60 with a good 50-55 average. Nothing compared to the below 30 moments on MHS3. For me, it is too much. A capped 30 in exploration and 60 in combats would have been a better choice (same as Digimon on PS5). Anyone who can accept drops as low as 20 fps will be fine with the game as it is I guess but please don't tell everyone that it is perfectly fine and that they are being negative as soon as they mention the fluctuating framerate as a major issue.

And here we are again! Very similar to MHS 2 on SW1, the game fluctuates non stop between like 20 fps and 45 fps during exploration and in villages, making it very uncomfortable. Once in combats, it seems to be between 45 and 60. After seeing MHS 2 running flawlessly at 60 fps on SW2 without needing any patch, I was confident MHS3 would run about the same as it would be developed specifically for SW2, but no, again, the Switch 2 will be the console of sacrifices. Hard pass for me. Tried the PS5 demo: running flawlessly even in fidelity mode so easy choice here.

My top 3 was Hades 2, DK Bananza and Pokemon ZA. I've got to say that Inazuma Eleven changed that quite a lot! Now it would be Inazuma Eleven, Hades 2 and DK Bananza. It is such a great game! It is packed with content and the most crazy part about it is that they'll keep adding some! It is one of the most "complete" game I ever played. A true love letter to the series.

Re: Video: We've Played Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition On Switch 2 - Here's 18 Minutes Of Gameplay

Gohanjin

It's basically the PS3 version with higher resolution. Very lazy port. The PS4 version looks sooooo much better. I am not too focused on graphics but there's some games where the shadows, lighting, vegetation make a big impact on how well the game's atmosphere in presented. Having played it on Xbox One X back then, I can confirm that this is a quite (if not totally) different game as a result in its current state. Yes, it's cheap, but I can't really see the appeal if you have played it or can play it on any other platform.

Re: Review: Kirby Air Riders (Switch 2) - Incredibly Chaotic, But Satisfyingly Deep & Rewarding Racing

Gohanjin

Tried the demo and it's gonna be a pass for me. Yes the soundtrack seems amazing, it's looking good and it is pretty fun while racing. But.... the races are waaaaayyyy too short! When you start having fun, it is already over (1.5-2mn long, hopefully there's a way to make them last longer???). Also, the arena mode literally made me feel sick after about 3mn in. I couldn't even go through the 5mn and had to put the controller down. It is so fast paced, going left, right, circling non stop, I felt like I was going to give my dinner back! Speed isn't an issue for me when it is going straight (even Fast Fusion is perfectly fine) but when it is pure chaos, it is just impossible for me. Probably a great game but I'll have to skip it. I'll go back playing Inazuma Eleven.

@fenlix I'd give this (barely noticeable) ray tracing any day in exchange of a proper 60 fps with constant frame pacing any day. 30 fps with inconsistent frame pacing is just barely playing for people who can notice it.

Re: Review: Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - An Excellent Port Of A Timeless Classic

Gohanjin

@cedarhyped nice one! Go and check Disgaea's original graphics on PS2 from 2003 and tell me if this "remaster" looks more impressive. Ans there is plenty of PS2 era games that look way better that this. The textures look flat and "basic". For the same price, you can get some real remasters/remake (Star Ocean Second Story R, DQ III Remake, Mario RPG, or even Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD).

Gohanjin

"Excellent graphical and gameplay enhancements delicately implemented": maybe I need to change my glasses but I am everything but blown away by these "enhancements". The 2003 Disgaea game with its original PS2 graphics looks prettier than this. This a pretty lazy re-release at full price. Only the added voices are a notable change. It will be a hard pass for me until it is discounted to at least half the price.

Re: Donkey Kong Bananza Version 2.0.1 Is Now Live On Switch 2, Here's What's Included

Gohanjin

Yeeeeessss!!!! Best news of the day!!!

"Fixed issue where the player could not get a disc as a reward for collecting all the balloons in Bananza Rehearsal.
If the above issue is occurring in the game in Ver. 2.0.0 or earlier, the player will be able to get the disc right after the stage starts by entering Bananza Rehearsal after downloading this update data."

This issue literally ruined my 100% of the game and I was stuck with 99% completion for more than 1 month! I did reach out to Nintendo in every possible way to explain the issue in details. Maybe I contributed getting this resolved. I have tested it and I now have the 3 stars for 100% completion! Ooooooh Banana!!!

Re: Talking Point: Is Hollow Knight: Silksong Too Difficult?

Gohanjin

I couldn't get to Hollow Knight for years. Finally getting into it. Played 3h so far and not that difficult, apart from a difficulty to know where to go sometimes. Just re-played Lies of P in the highest difficulty and started its DLC so I am more than ready for any difficulty. The only part I think might be tricky is some platform sections. Having 100% Prince of Persia the Lost Crown (which had some insane platform sections) a few months ago, I am pretty confident though.

Re: Reminder: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds 'Open Network Test' For Switch Is Now Live

Gohanjin

Tried the S1 version: even on S2, it is a blurry mess running at 25-30 fps. Tried the PS5 version: very clean and rock solid 60 fps on performance mode. I wonder if the S2 version will be anywhere close to that. If it can do 1080p 60 fps, then I'm in. I wouldn't mind a 720p 60 fps on 4 players mode but will highly likely be like 720p 30 on 4 players mode.
