Being able to buy maps or slam the floor to find the missing bananas or fossiles is an excellent idea. In Odyssey, it becomes tedious to find new moons at the end without a guide.
@sanderev I'm not too sure. SF6 for ex is 49GB. Ok, it has the World Tour mode but it is a pretty small "open world". And it has almost no pre rendered videos in it.
Also, Mario Odyssey, alias the 3d Mario game the most packed with content ever made is only about 6gb. Nintendo are masters of optimization, that's all!
One thing I hate in video games is when the audio is ao compressed that the voices sound muffled. But the audio in the trailer seemed pretty loud and clear. And damn does the soundtrack sounds amazing! That is the thing that made me even more excited for the game!
For those assuming that the S1 version running on the S2 would offer an almost identical experience, I would not be so sure about it. And with ZERO upgrade path from the S1 to the S2 version, we need to be very careful about it. Personally, I've grabbed the S2 version and it runs great. It is a game key card yes, but the game file's size is only 12GB so I can live with that.
I initially was skeptical about the Switch 2 when it was announced but then decided to pre order it as soon as I saw the trailer for this game. And damn was I right to do so!
No excuses for not applying a screen protector on any device that is worth more than like £100. Bought a pack of 3 glass screen protectors on Amazon for £6 about 2 weeks before release and applied one of them on the Switch 2 at the moment I took it out the box. Also applied 2 little soft pads bands on the inside/back of the dock day one as I used to do with any of my Switch 1 docks to prevent any scratches. The console will be scratch free guaranteed for its all life for sure, but it is something else I am worried about... I had a defective game card reader on my first Switch, 2 joycons drifts, and just days before the Switch 2 released, one of the joycons rails on my Oled suddenly dying without any reason, forcing me to get a Nitro Deck grip as my joycons or Split pad pro wouldn't connect more than 10sec on the right side. I really hope that the new magnetic system will prevent these really annoying issues to happen. As for joycons drifts...
Are you sure you've tried Disco Elysium and Bloodstained????? I have tried 3 days in a row following the S2 console release and the games ran as bad as on S1, even worse for Disco Elysium. I'll try again tonight just in case. I can confirm that TW3 runs better, and all the musous (apart from Fate Samurai Remnant) run at perfect 60 fps. Ones you should also check out Guys are the 2 Monster Hunter Stories that are now running flawlessly. It is a giant gap, especially for MHS 2 which was all over the place in villages and open areas. Also, Captain Tsubasa is now running flawlessly too and its biggest issue (super slow and laggy menus) has been completely fixed. A last one: Disgaea 7 now runs at perfect 60 fps in graphics mode.
@Otoemetry It isn't really secret but it requires finishing the main story first. It is a very long and hard stage that will test all your knowledge of the game's mechanics. Pretty sure many gave up.
Splatoon 3 is an amazing game! And GOOD LUCK to those who will have to complete the very last secret stage for the first time. You gonna need some patience and efforts!
I did play MK World handheld about 2h15, no auto brightness and about 60% brightness, volume about 70%, wifi on with plenty of games re-downloading in the background. It went from 100% to 26%, which is pretty reasonable. I'd say it can last a solid 2h30 without any issue. I remember my very first Switch model couldn't last more than 2h with MK8 Deluxe. A slight improvement over the first Switch. The Switch Oled remains the best though as I could easily play MK8 Deluxe for 3h+ with it.
For the ones thinking that the blur effect is an "artistic choice", uhhh nope... This is to get a few little extra frames performance wise. For ex, this can be removed in Fantasy Life on the PC version but not on the Switch version, simply because the Switch 1 is unable to run the game properly without it. Hopefully, the S2 upgrade will give us the ability to remove it. And anyone saying that it is a nice thing to have it, then good for you but it is literally hurting my eyes after a while. It doesn't look or feel natural at all.
Mine ordered via Nintendo Store is arriving between 9am and 12pm tomorrow. However, zero update about my physical version of MK World from Argos. I might end up testing the 2 Zelda games updates and testing some games that were struggling on Switch 1 (Pokemon Arceus, Bayonetta 3, No more Heroes 3, The Witcher 3, XC 2, ...).
@Mgalens You're right! I was looking at the in-game settings. This option has been added to a second settings page in the main menu where we select the game! Little nitpick: we still have to manually speed up battle at the beginning of each battle as the game doesn't save our choice from the previous battles. But that is perfectly fine.
And yet, zero fix for the music going faster when accelerating combats. That was one of the main feature of this remaster and it is totally unusable in its current state.
Okaayyy... So let's get ready for a GTA V port of Switch 2! I bet it will be a proper £49.99 and will be the original release version of the game. Hurray!
I don't see much games that will fully take advantage of that (pretty pricey) pad apart from the few coming NGC games amd Smash. What would be great would be a proper wireless fighting pad for SF6 (and hopefully KOF XV and FF City of the wolves soon).
FYI I'm happy to report that the SF 6 that was available for a cheaper price on Amazon wasn't the French version. It is the proper UK version. They've now added the photo. You Guys can go and see for yourselves. Not sure about Bravely Default as the photo is still missing.
@jco83 No guarantees indeed but they have everything to lose if they don't. People will always prioritize Amazon, or even Argos or Smyths if they don't do any discount.
@Anakin that is exactly what qi am planning to do. I wouldn't mind paying 3-5£ extra for each to get the proper UK covers if Currys provides us with their usual offers, but I'll stick with these Amazon orders if they don't.
@jco83 Perfectly fine for me. Often saw some French versions of games at Cex. They can't even tell the difference and buy them without a'y issue. Can also be easily re-wold on Ebay as most people won't care.
I really don't get all the fuss about these digital cartridges as, again, they can still be re-sold later on. The real issue is for people who are collecting and planning to keep their collection for a very long time. Xbox physical games being worth almost nothing due to Gamepass, Sony slowly offering digital only consoles, PC already being digital only since a long time, I am very happy that Nintendo came up with this digital cartridge option/compromise. Let's see how these will be reconsidered for their real value once Sony announces a fully digital PS6...
@Friendly But they ARE cheaper. SF6 for Instance, even at its full recommended price is 49.99 max, and it comes with all the DLC's. That's an insanely good offer. Base game on PS5 was the same price at best, and the DLC's are still very expensive, like 45-50£ for all of them alone at a discounted price (they rarely are discounted more than 30% off even now). As I don't want to renew my ps plus, I'm actually planning reselling my PS5 version of the game and finally be able to enjoy the DLC's on Switch 2. The NSO is also very cheap.
@Fake-news Almost all PS5 games are "sellable" digital content with just a sometimes glitchy 1.0 version of a game on disc. For some, the day one update file size is even higher than the size of the data on disc. Only Nintendo proposes some v 1.0 games that are perfectly playable and are never needing updates. Nowadays, almost no physical game is fully playable day one without needing any data download.
@Friendly Simple: you can enjoy the game, 100% it, then sell it, which is is impossible with fully digital or code in a box versions. These digital cards are great if they guarantee a lower price, which seems to be the case. You can put 100h in SF6 for £35, then sell it for at least 20-25. That's 100h of enjoyment for 10-15£. They can be an issue only for people planning to collect games on a very long term.
@Anakin they lack a picture and do look a little weird indeed. I actually ordered the asian English boxed version of Ace Attorney Investigations on Amazon last month and the listing had no picture too. It arrived perfectly well amd what exactly what I've ordered. These listings might be a bit rushed. On Currys for ex, there was no listings at all until today and there's now some listings created for some Switch 2 games but they all appear as out of stock straight. I guess these will be listings used soon with their usual 20% off.
@Friendly Servers usually are down only when the actual game cartridge won't even work anymore lol. Bought MH 4 Ultimate on 3ds like 2 weeks ago for ex, and even if additional content couldn't be downloaded anymore, I could update the game without any issue. Also, even cartridge games require for most at least the day one update to run properly.
@Anakin I don't think so. The Bravely Default listing was showing as out of stock for about 6h, then it was back again. These aren't glitched listings. The glitched ones usually are gone for good once removed. These here aren't removed. They temporarily show as out of stock but tgen get live again once more stock arrives.
@WolfyWardark I saw it 30mn ago but it is visible only directly from the Switch. It can't be found from the online website. Also, as expected, goodbye the 10% off. I am gutted as I did let the discount expire on the PS5 version specifically to get it on Switch. I am done with it now. My excitement for the game slowly went psshhtttt during the last few days. This might be one of the worst game pre order campaign I've ever seen! You simply can't pre-order it! What's the point to highlight it in a Nintendo Direct and on the Eshop if it's to release it in such a bad way. And no communication, no excuses, no 10% off as promised, nothing. They can keep it now. I'll come back when it will be 50% off at least coz they don't deserve more than that after doing this.
This game's release is becoming a very very bad joke!!! I was excited when it was announced. Then, I heard that it would be digital only. I was a bit disappointed but I was like, "these 10% pre order off will make up for it. The game was nowhere on the Eshop, so I waited... 1 month before release, still nothing... 2 weeks, then 1 week, I was starting to worry. 3 days, 2 days, a day before release I was like "WTH is going on??? Don't they want to sell any copy of the game???". I waited post midnight: still nothing! It is now 6pm on release date and still nothing at all! What a disgrace!!! They can surely keep it now! I'm done waiting. No physical release, no communication at all regarding any delay, a goodbye to any 10 miserable % off... Disgusting way to treat fans, and ultimately potential customers...
About 8h in and wow this game looks as bad as it feels good to play! The presentation is reaaally bad with cutscenes looking like a cheap visual novel. Dialogues are meh, voices are so bad they're good! BUT... The combat system is almost as good and deep than SMT V's press turn system (if not as good), the soundtrack has some amazing songs (especially in combat, where honestly you'll spend most of your time), characters, as the voices, are so bad they're good and lovable! Dropped Metaphor for that game, that must tell you something about how good this game can get if you get hooked. I would easily recommend this game to anyone who love J-RPG's that don't hold your hand, have deep combat system where mashing buttons isn't enough, who love some challenge and who don't pay too much attention to the presentation.
Are we seriously complaining about the fact that we need to manually save when we can now save whenever we want??? Do you Guys remember that saving was also manual and possible only at some specific save point far from one another in the original game? I have just completed Shin Megami Tensei V for example, amazing 60-100 hours long game, where we also need to manually save...
Tried the demo yesterday and the terrible voices made me stop. As a result, there is simply zero emotions during voiced scenes, which is a shame as the atmosphere seems pretty good.
After 2-3h wondering "WTF with these graphics and these performance hiccups?!", I am now truly enjoying the game! Spend about 12h playing it and I can't stop playing it! Had the chance to receive a £5 voucher on Amazon at the perfect time so could get it for 39.95£. I would also strongly recommend to anyone to grab DQ Treasures currently at 22.95£ on Amazon and Thegamecollection . These 2 games will become pretty rare in the near future for sure.
They could have made up for the disaster that was Rogue Corps, but no, they decided to continue to literally sh*t on our face 🙂 If there still was any doubt about it, Konami is de*d and buried very very deep...
Famitsu gave a 38/40 to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet lol Just received the game so I will be able to play it in about an hour for a good 2h stream. I liked the demo. Framerate was slightly inconsistent but it wasn't game breaking. The colors really popped on my Oled TV and I can't recommend enough playing it this way. And yes, it looks like a late PS2/early PS3 game but the chara design still makes up for it. There's plenty of '"Unreal Engine" games with highly detailed textures but poor chara design/no charm out there so still nice to see a new Dragon Quest.
"The same over-reliance on RNG": I have the exact same issue with Baldur's Gate 3 and nobody seem to say anything about it! 10/10, masterpiece, GOTY, ... You start a battle, you have 4 characters, there's 12 on the ennemies' side. Your characters are level 5, all ennemies are level 7-8. You attack, fail 70% of the time, you land: 5 pts of damage. Ennemies attack: succeed 90% of the time and do 10 pts of damage... Completely ruined the game for me... And I guess it would ruin this one for me too.
It was rumoured that it was 60 FPS docked and 30 FPS handled. I did pre-order the game, but due to the lack of communication/information about the Switch version, I decided to cancel it. 30 FPS for a football game, same than for a versus fighting game, is a no no. You can tell me that the graphics were improved and some modes were added, but 30 FPS in a football game makes the game feel slow and clunky. Will pass on that one, and wait for it to be added to the Gamepass around Feb/March.
This new Disgaea looks great! Out of all the Disgaea games, the first one on PS2 will always have a special place for me! I went to a local store that had plenty of imported games and new released PAL games about a week in advance. I first went for an imported Naruto game thinking that it had ENG sub, but it didn't. Went back to the store and was allowed to exchange the game with another one. Then I saw this Disgaea, it was brand new, I knew nothing about it, and they had just received it, once again in advance. I was intrigued by its cover and decided to go for it. And man, was I on for quite a trip! First game ever that I played for 300+ hours! The art style, the humour, the gameplay, it was just magical! And god, the game's trailer is gold too with an amazing Tsunami Bomb song!
Oh that's great news! Disgaea 6 was a technical mess on Switch! Bought it day one and had either to play with some severe slow downs, or very blurry graphics. I gave up on the game and sold it few weeks later. It was the first Disgaea game that I didn't complete and with which I didn't spend 100+ hours. Will definitely give Disgaea 7 a shot!
I was about to pre-order it, then decided to do a quick safe search about this website and gosh the reviews are bad, reaaaalllyyy bad!!! Most people buying something from them simply never receive anything. This is a shame that they didn't release a physical edition day one, the "normal" way rather than teaming up with an obscure US based company who almost never deliver. This game will sadly be a pass for me until it gets at least a 50% off on the E-Shop.
@Andgiles62 would we need to create another user login in order to purchase from the Brazilian Eshop or would our UK login work? Also, does the game contains all languages? And last and not least, can we start the game with our usual UK login or do we need to switch to a Brazilian one every single time we want to start the game? Thank you
£36 ?!!! Ouch!!! Now I understand why its price wasn't showing on the Eshop until the very last second before its release... Just got Vampire Survivors and all its DLC's for less than £7 so I think I'm gonna pass for now. 15£ later on maybe, but certainly not £36 for a (according to the reviews) 8-10h long game. Gosh, I've had more than 400h out Monster Hunter Rise and its extension for about £70 and still have lots to do in the game. And no physical release ??? Seriously?????!

I'm now at 668 bananas out of 777 in DK Bananza. I'm completing each level 1 by 1. What a game! I actually find the road to completion easier than in Mario Odyssey. Being able to buy maps or slam the floor to find the missing bananas or fossiles is an excellent idea. In Odyssey, it becomes tedious to find new moons at the end without a guide.

Re: Review: Legacy Of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered (Switch) - Raziel Returns With A Feature-Packed Pair
Re: Review: SaGa Emerald Beyond (Switch) - Diverse But Dull RPG Boosted By Excellent Combat
Re: Review: Tomb Raider I-III Remastered (Switch) - The Best Way To Rediscover A Gaming Idol
Re: Review: Alisa Developer's Cut (Switch) - An Excellent RE Homage That Nails The '90s Vibe
Tried the demo yesterday and the terrible voices made me stop. As a result, there is simply zero emotions during voiced scenes, which is a shame as the atmosphere seems pretty good.
Re: Square Enix Asks Fans To Consider Dragon Quest Monsters eShop Version After Physical Release Sells Out
After 2-3h wondering "WTF with these graphics and these performance hiccups?!", I am now truly enjoying the game!
Re: Oh Dear, Contra: Operation Galuga's Physical Edition Is A Download Code In A Box
They could have made up for the disaster that was Rogue Corps, but no, they decided to continue to literally sh*t on our face 🙂 If there still was any doubt about it, Konami is de*d and buried very very deep...
Re: The First Review For Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince Is In
Famitsu gave a 38/40 to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet lol Just received the game so I will be able to play it in about an hour for a good 2h stream.
Re: Review: Front Mission 2: Remake - Serviceable, But With Some Seriously Rough Edges
Re: EA Sports FC 24 Switch Frame Rate & Resolution Revealed
It was rumoured that it was 60 FPS docked and 30 FPS handled. I did pre-order the game, but due to the lack of communication/information about the Switch version, I decided to cancel it. 30 FPS for a football game, same than for a versus fighting game, is a no no. You can tell me that the graphics were improved and some modes were added, but 30 FPS in a football game makes the game feel slow and clunky. Will pass on that one, and wait for it to be added to the Gamepass around Feb/March.
Re: Review: Disgaea 7: Vows Of The Virtueless - Superb, Supersized Strategy RPG Is A Series Best
Re: Review: Disgaea 7: Vows Of The Virtueless - Superb, Supersized Strategy RPG Is A Series Best
Re: Bomb Rush Cyberfunk Scores A Physical Switch Release, Pre-Orders Go Live This Week
Re: Poll: Bomb Rush Cyberfunk Is Out On Switch Today, Will You Be Getting It?
@Andgiles62 would we need to create another user login in order to purchase from the Brazilian Eshop or would our UK login work? Also, does the game contains all languages? And last and not least, can we start the game with our usual UK login or do we need to switch to a Brazilian one every single time we want to start the game? Thank you
Re: Poll: Bomb Rush Cyberfunk Is Out On Switch Today, Will You Be Getting It?
