I've been expecting this. That they're save the ammunition and surprises for the next system while squeezing what they can out of the switch with other announcements.
Here's hoping following the park, we get a new game. Not another game with him sharing the spotlight with Mario. Maybe even a movie is in the works. It makes no sense that this would be all that Donkey Kong gets content wise.
While yes marketing the game is one thing, and CG trailers might be overplayed now a days. Who is expecting them to be better then movies, and why do they need to be to be worth it?
As if we weren't spoiled enough with that concert coming up this February. Now ZREO is back with the goodness. They were amazing with the Twilight Princess ost.
So many thoughts fly by this huh? -Aonuma is wearing construction gear, looking like he's advising the team. Maybe its an expansion for Zelda since he is the face of Zelda's development now. -He's a Nintendo producer so he may be involved with the park at large even without Legend stuff. -There were rumors that Zelda will be getting a theme park expansion after DK. Replacing Harry Potter I believe at epic universe which is where they actually are. -Why remove the video if it was nothing serious? -We don't know when this is, could've been during DK's expansion. -Universal's studios isn't working on the Zelda movie, why would Zelda get a theme park expansion? Got anything more to add?
@RadioHedgeFund It worked for Breath of the Wild. Nintendo respect the people who bought Wii U's for that game when it was first announced while giving the Switch a tentpole launch game that kicked off its success.
I've looked up SupermetelDave64 on the matter. I know the YouTubers who get this information. I wonder though if true, MP4 gets the trigger pulled in a direct, or is saved for the next gen Nintendo console and its set as a cross gen title like Breath of the Wild.
Funny. I'm surprised this is now being thought of before. Considering both Link in several games, and the Prince from the Sands of time trilogy both have time powers.
Its like the developer read my mind cause I was thinking the same thing at one point. Imagine how cool if Link played kind of like Sargon without the dual Wieding but uses a lot of different sword skills. I don't think I'd want a Zelda Metroidvania when we got Metroid. But a semi top down/side scroller like AoL Or a spin off staring Sheik.
@JR150 I feel going forward 8-9 from a series is too much. Mario, Pokemon and Fire Emblem are there now. But yes, The Zelda series could do without a Zelda form, and more Links being the representation. And Kirby does deserve another fighter. If Sakurai was or will be interested in taking from the games he didn't work on.
@JR150 I'm not suggesting Fire Emblem Heroes or the FE representation in Smash be discontinued. Although there is a case that FE is a little over represented. I'm saying that after engage for the next Gen Fire Emblems for. No more multiverse crossovers regarding past fire emblem protags. At least for the time being.
This was a great tactics RPGs. While a step back interms of story and writing from 3H. There was still a lot of charm that really carried this game along with the mechanics. That being said, I hope we don't get anymore celebrations of Fire Emblem's history for a long time. After doing that 3 times with the first Warriors game, Heroes and Engage. Heck technically Smash. Give it a break.
I guess its been long enough for a new remake of the game to be warranted depending on how they go about it. Cause there is so much quality of life in the 3ds version already beyond looking better.
@Fizza The article suggests that its companies beyond who they deal with. As for 2d Zelda and Capcom. Maybe but I get the feeling Grezzo is covering that after Links Awakening did so well like Mercury Steam got Metroid Dread after their Samus Returns.
Which studios are they in discussion with. This article suggests that there are more partnerships and they are expanding. Could it be ones that are more Sony and Microsofts partners?
The problems with using Wes Ball and Derek Connolly's past work against them for why they aren't qualified for this is that one. In especially Wes Balls case they were the first movies he directed, directors make mistakes and can learn from them. Second, we can pick out bad movies these people have worked on but not about why these movies sucked. In Derek Connolly's case, he was part of a team in RoS. Detective Pikachu, and Jurassic World. Unless we have the storyboard and the scripts by each writer, we're just singling out. Lastly what these people have done doesn't mean the Zelda movie will feel like them in spirit, look at the Mario Movie having the Teen Titans go creators and the minion movie writers. Did the Mario Movie feel like them and if they did was it the same quality?
While Zelda 1 is one of the few games that feel necessary to be remade. I feel like the next step for Zelda is a new top down game. All thats held top down at all are remakes of Links Awakening and the crypt of the necromancer spin off. We have Zelda 1 and the majority of top down Zelda on the Switch online already.
I'd put Tears Ganondorf over Ocarina and Twilight Ganondorf but I don't know if he passes Wind. Maybe because Matthew Mercer's voice gave him an edge. As a boss fight, thats where things kind of flip around. I haven't played some of these games in a while so my memory and recency might contaminate things in regards to Ganondorfs mechanical design while also thinking about visual and story design.
A side note, why is Ocarina Ganondorf and Smash Ultimate Ganondorf separately ranked? Ultimates design is Ocarina's version straight. What about that is from Twilight Princess?
I feel the same way. Dungeon building is more meticulous then level building in Mario. Yes there are programs for dungeon building, I'm aware. But the editor in Links Awakening showed that making a dungeon has a lot more to get right and has less right and more wrong ways to make one.
On the topic of the twist In all honesty, its probably up there with the Sheik twist and better than Tetra's. Those ego's were cool too but this is the first transformation of hers that actually assists Link in the final battle where past ones were Zelda backing him up with her magic which is cool too but this is unique. The cutscene that revealed it after pulling the master sword really moved me.
I see, they left Mysplaced alone because even though it was a near identical title didn't have Link, Koholint, or the bosses. This is a recreation of dx title.
how long is this interview. Cause he's answering so much with famitsu and ign. Perhaps they could ask him about 2d Top Down Zelda or spin offs, or a different villain and art style for the next 3d game? Maybe the movie, which is probably more for Miyamoto.
I always thought linear zelda fans would be mostly happy if they kept that up in top down Zelda while open world could still carry on with 3d games. Kind of like the compromise they've achieved with Sonic being modern in 3d but classic in 2d. Though for all we know 2d Zelda may very well go back to Zelda 1/ALBW design.
This is actually fine by me. This version of Link, Zelda, Ganon, Hyrule have been a blast but I don't want any era of Zelda milked. Let them move on and figure something new out with all that. New aesthetics, and what new versions of those characters could be like.
I keep saying, Tears of the Kingdom is pretty much Zelda Maker, dungeon excluded. The customization of clothing, and building of weapons, ammo, vehicles, and so on. Tears probably has just as much freedom and flexibility in its creativity kit as the Mario Makers world customizing and level building. Granted Zelda's always had an engineering aspect to it with the dungeons and puzzle solving. They take problem solving, navigation, outside the box thinking. I'm surprised this wasn't attempted sooner with that aspect in mind.
Maybe on its own merits the water temple isn't terrible. Central tower, water raising and lowering are all cool in concept. Its just having to pause when ever I'm in the water, and missing the spot where I just solved the puzzle and ever wall blended together. All fixed in the 3ds remake
None of the above. Zelda games are too long they'd need to choose what to cut out in between and the stories are spread out between exploring and dungeons making it a pacing nightmare to adapt. Besides we already know those stories leading to redundancy and predictability. A new story that borrows elements while making their own version and dance of Link, Zelda and Ganondorf. Borrowing aspects from the games. Avoids all that.
I feel like I was the only one thinking all along, they're not going to Illumination for Zelda. Just because they scored big time with Mario. Nintendo don't let success with one group dictate future plans and they don't put their eggs in one basket for game development surely not for film production either. That being said, Sony of all companies. I thought maybe some other Universal division like Dreamworks or NBC Universal Studios would get on. So hears to surprises
@RCGamer Think Fire Emblem be anime. Otherwise its just game of Thrones. Zelda could be anime too if it was Ghibli or the animation team that did the Links Awakening animated cutscene.
Who's playing Link, will he talk. What about Zelda, Ganondorf, Impa and what have you. Also are they adapting the games like Detective Pikachu or doing or an original story like the Mario and Sonic films?
Seriously, All this time? I knew a Zelda film was inevitable after Mario got another chance and suceeded but I didn't expect to find out about it now. And its not Illumination which I did not see coming. But its live action, which I've come around on and see a good chance of working out.
A reflexive Sheik game involving Sheik cutting down attacking wolves with a bit more depth sounds could be neat if they hadn't described it as Wack a Mole.
Now if only Nintendo saw the potential and thought, "We can do better" and Zelda gets an actual movie or show with just as much effort, heart, and passion.

@Markiemania95 @the_beaver Which is the mystery. To start with the better game and experience or end with a better game and experience.

Definitely. Not sure if I want it or Sonic Superstars first. Which would be the better to start.
