I think Microsoft has stated at some point during all these acquisitions, that these companies will still be relatively autonomous in their operations. So I am sure multi-platform franchises will still be multi-platform (look at Minecraft). Money will just filter to Microsoft.
However, Game Pass value will shoot up as Bethesda games will all be added to Game Pass (and stay there). When Starfield/ES6 do come out, they will be Game Pass day 1 instead of paying $70/piece elsewhere - that Game Pass subscription is looking mighty appealing!
This game was amazing! I played it via Game Pass via Xbox One X and well as my Surface Book 2 (thanks Xbox Play Anywhere) and it was a smooth experience on both.
Pretty awesome that Switch is getting a release - especially since I believe it was said it just wasn't possible with all the enhancements to the new game.
@Large-Kelpfries From a developer side of things, it depends on the level of effort required to fix it. Bugs are bugs - regardless if it's something that hardcore gamers find fun, it's still technically a bug that prevents the software from running "as intended" - albeit probably way more minor on the bug list.
If it's a quick fix, fix it. If it's something more significant...well, I guess that's up to development studio budget on whether it's even worth fixing.
I think it's funny that glitches in video games are now considered a no kidding "feature" to speed runners that should never be fixed, rather than bugs being jokingly called a "feature" by developers and really should be fixed.
I mean, if the version with rumble was easier to port to the Switch to have rumble, then, from a developer standpoint, "screw speed-runners."
Really? Wow. Local multi-player was like a core mechanic to the game. That should have been the first thing to figure out before worrying about cross-save/cross-play.
This is like the Overcooked of Final Fantasy games - best played with friends...locally.
18/21 - Got one of the Oracles wrong. Got the Wind Waker HD one wrong ( picked regular Wind Waker instead). And for some reason picked A Link Between Worlds for what is clearly Wind Waker.
@BulkSlash So create a Japanese account and download the Japanese version of the apps - they work with the account that has your active NSO subscription, so it's not like you have to pay for NSO twice or anything.
Yet, the original received a patch yesterday that...does...well we don't know because there never appears to be any way to read patch notes for Switch games!
I know graphics aren't everything, but if you are going to make a 3D game that is meant to look animated, at least make it look like it belongs in 2020 (or at least something from the past few years).
I am sure the card reader inside doesn't add much cost or add bulk to the system - and besides, Nintendo would need to add more internal storage (or sell it with like a 256GB min-SD card already inserted) which might mean it sells at a higher price for the cost of increased storage/additional SD card.
Microsoft and Sony can actually lower the price/reduce form factor by selling "All-Digital" editions. There is an advantage there.
I thought about running out to get it today, but with Dragon Quest XI, Daemon x Machina and Dark Souls II on my backlog, I just don't have the time for another long game.
I think the infinite 1-UP trick at the end of 3-1 is much more handy since starting 8-1 with only the normal amount of lives using a "Continue" can be quite frustrating - but definitely turns you into a battle-hardened gaming veteran!
@outsider83 I miss the Virtual Console. I had like 90+ games stretched across multiple consoles. It was the closest thing to a one-stop shop for video game preservation.
These days it's all about making individual collections. It's nice that we have so many to choose from, but it still doesn't beat scrolling through the pages upon pages of game tiles like I had on the Wii Menu. For me, it was just as satisfying as having the games physically on a shelf (with no clutter).
Coronavirus containment measures found: make everyone in the world sit in containment pods for 2 months and figure out interesting ways to beat Breath of the Wild.
Virus...dead.
Avoid eating under-cooked bat meat for the rest of time.
The Switch has changed things a lot. These days instead of dealing with "Nintendo is for kids", we now deal with "why would you want to play a gimped version of [x] when you can play it in 4K elsewhere?"
Honestly, even if the event is cancelled, Nintendo could still have the big Direct it would normally have during the week of the event - it's not like Nintendo needs to be present.
Personally, I would turn off anti-aliasing. In most PC games, I leave it off in favor of having more headroom to keep the framerate locked at the target - only turning it on if the target framerate is locked regardless.
Yes, "jaggies" are present, but I would rather have the stable framerate that comes with leaving it off.
I am really hoping the sequel comes out in 2020. I don't plan to get a PS5 or Series X until a few months after release (to make sure there are no glaring hardware defects with the new systems). A BotW sequel would be enough to tie me over until then.
Though, I think the picture of the male model looking down (2nd to last picture) needs to replace the male model looking at the camera in the picture where the female model is turned around (the last picture)...because...reality!

Re: Poll: Super Mario 3D All-Stars Is Out Today On Switch, Are You Getting It?
I am still very much on the fence. On one hand, I love these games. On the other hand, I have already played them to death on their original consoles.
Maybe I will toss it on my Christmas list. If I get it, cool. If not, no big deal.
Re: It's Official, Monster Hunter Rise Confirmed For Nintendo Switch
This looks like the RE Engine - does that mean we can start to expect to see other RE Engine games running natively on the Switch?

Re: Nintendo Reveals Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, A Game Set 100 Years Before Breath Of The Wild
Wow! I have never been more excited for a Warriors title! I can't wait to experience the Calamity! So, I guess in this game, losing is canon!
Even more, I wonder if there will be some story nuggets that will hint at Breath of the Wild 2.
Re: Rare Celebrates Its 35th Anniversary
@TG16_IS_BAE @ritouf Are you two being sarcastic? There is this little game called Sea of Thieves...maybe you have heard of it?
Also Rare is working on a game called Everwild which was shown during the recent Xbox Series X Showcase.
Plus the new Battletoads game (coming out this month) is being co-developed with Rare.
Many of the key developers from Rare's "golden era" are working at Playtonic - hence why the Yooka-Laylee franchise seem so...familiar.

I won't contribute to their Kickstarter, but would definitely consider a purchase if everything works out! I love me some belt-scrolling beat-em-ups.
