Eastasiasoft has confirmed that it is bringing One-Hand-Free Studios' Waifu Uncovered to the Nintendo Switch eShop on July 16th, with digital pre-load starting this week, on July 9th.
Described as a "sexy and naughty" shmup, Waifu Uncovered mixes bullet-hell action with "a light-hearted story" in which you de-robe one of 8 "beautiful females" by blasting away their virus-infected clothing. Ahem.
Solo and co-op play are included, and there's a range of different ships to use, each offering a unique play style. There's even a "one finger mode" for when – and we quote – you're "busy with other things", as well as a "censorship unlock system".

Will you be downloading this one? Let us know with a comment.

Pretty sure I won't be getting it.
"Right hand free mode" ?
Imagine inviting the family round for Christmas and when you load up the Switch, this is the first game on the icon list.
@Tibob How dare you disregard all of the left handed preferred users!
There's two games in steam that are exactly this. Deep Space Waifu and Deep Space Waifu - Flat Justice
A game with bullets and boobies and a “one finger mode”
Sounds like it’s for me!
Well, it isn't the first shmup-undressing-women game I see!
Is that a whole genre?
"Well officer, you see, her clothes were infected with a deadly virus, and..."
Praise teh Lord for these small joys in life 👍
This is exactly the sort of game I wanted to feature co-op multiplayer. Thank god
Lordy, lordy, lordy 😄😄😄😄😄😄
While it's not something I have much desire to play, I do appreciate the absurdity of it. Maybe if it's ever on sale super cheap.
Co-op mode?
"OK but we've got to sit back to back and don't make eye contact".
If I got this I'd have to be saved from my waifu...
@syrupdash My family doesn't touch my stuff lol.
What did I just watch?
If the shmup part itself is good, why not? But I guess the "uncensored" part will remain. There's going to be a progress uncovering the girls, but to a degree. I think in the trailer we can see how far is it going to get. It's censorship anyway.
One-Hand-Free Studios
...
There's even a "one finger mode" for when – and we quote – you're "busy with other things", as well as a "censorship unlock system".
😂 That second bit conjures mental images I never wanted.
@GameOtaku This sounds up your alley. Sounds like Deep Space Waifu
Why do you guys continue to advertise smut like this, with headlines about “boobies?”
It’s so freaking cringey. Maybe it’s wrong, but I can’t separate the gamer dweebs obsessed with cartoon girls from those emotionally stunted Smash dweebs that hurt children.
@LUIGITORNADO Dweeb? Ok boomer.
@Ralizah
You’re right it does! It looks extremely similar to DSW. (Although best girl Lime Code doesn’t seem to have a copy here) I may have to double dip if a physical is announced.
Imma pound myself senseless with this day one.
Oh wow, at least three of the girls I recognized as borderline deliberate knock-offs. ^^
I can appreciate crazy and sexy, but neither the ship designs nor the artwork of the girls really draw me in. |:-`
These kind of games remind me of novelty tourist t-shirts. They're funny, it's amusing to briefly look at to laugh at the absurdity... But I'd never actually buy one.
My two favorite genres, shumps and smut
You know, I usually defend these types of games but this looks like crap.
@LUIGITORNADO well maybe this game just isn't for you. Look at this comment section, its blatantly clear this game genre has its fans, and whether or not you like that does not matter as the world doesn't revolve around you. Just go play video games you enjoy, and let alone those who are looking forward to this game.
I generally only spend like $15 on shumps, would be willing to pay around there if this gets goods feedback.
Can't wait for the PS4 version
NintendoLife; Reports on the terrible situation involving sexual abuse at Evo.
Next day. Promotes a game about stripping girls.
Good job NintendoLife. I feel dirty. How about you?
@Inc they are too busy logged onto the hub )))))))))))
If they're not going to curate the eShop, at least give me an "ignore forever" button so I can pretend shovelware garbage like this doesn't exist.
@LUIGITORNADO @Inc If you can’t see the difference between cartoon boobs and real life assault, then that’s 100% on you.
@Roto13
They weren't ever very good salesmen over at OUYA, but one thing they did do right was the "bury" button for the shop, which moved a game to the furthest back of all discover lists.
i know this is a weird comment but has anyone else read the comic book AXE COP? the enemy artwork reminds me of AXE COP.
So uh, anything anyone has ever said about Nintendo wanting to protect their image as a family friendly brand has been complete bollocks, then?
I'm sure this is another case of there being absolutely NO screening before stuff can enter the eShop.
wow this sure is a kids site. (not really Minus 8)
@TG16_IS_BAE If you can't see how games like this may contribute to unhealthy mindsets in impressionable people, you're incredibly naïve.
Besides, I was calling out NintendoLife's hypocrisy. "We're better then this!". Indeed.
well... does it come with HD rumble?
@Fazermint They did allow Duke Nukem 3D on the eShop.
By One Hand Free Studios; well it is recommended you work to your strengths.
Sounds like this game will offer entertainment even before its release.
@Inc They aren’t hypocrites for posting this. They are separate topics. If countless studies keep being performed on the correlation to violence and games, and how there is no definitive connection, you think that human psychology is all of a sudden gonna see boobs in a game and assault someone? Please grow up!
@Ooyah lmao
@Fazermint I mean, Nintendo is being run by different leadership these days, plus look at all the visual novels that keep popping up. Maybe Nintendo is loosening their standards.
@TG16_IS_BAE nintendo did say they wanted more rated m and less censorship games on the switch so the more the merrier i say.
Does this game actually have nudity and not partial nudity? I did not think that was allowed...
@CartoonDan nintendo has been allowing alot of these games for switch which is a good thing.
@NEStalgia very well played 😂😂😂😂
@TG16_IS_BAE
Now i'm not saying one game about boobs is going to turn someone into a sexual deviant. Indeed, you're not wrong about that!
My point was, if we're trying to support victims at a time like this, promoting this garbage shovel-ware seems counter-productive.
And telling people to grow up? Really? That's not how to win a debate. You're better then that too.
@LUIGITORNADO while I don't like nor hate these games (I simply have no interest in playing them as I'm not into shmups or hentai), I was wondering the same thing.
It's pretty jarring to see NL advertise these games and then, when it's reviewing time, they get all sanctimonious and score them 3's across the board cause they are "for pervs". They literally degraded fans of these games in several reviews, mind you.
Might have to divorce the wife just to i can play it. Did someone say 1 finger mode? ✊✊💦
@Inc Who said I'm trying to win a debate? We are talking on a comments board, this isn't Q&A with Ben Shapiro or something. LOL
Remember when Nintendo didn't allow Babes in Duke Nukem 3D for the N64?
OnlyManWhoCan remembers
0:25
Nice to see that people can't even draw in 2020 anymore.
@RiasGremory Exactly. And as a side note, it's very strange to see such a visceral reaction to cartoon boobs, when games like Doom and Mortal Kombat feature some very realistic looking violence and nobody bats an eye. People and their double standards never cease to amaze me.
The music in the trailer sounds a lot like Celeste
@Tibob they had better have a left hand free mode, or it's a no go for be.
@Ooyah haha like Patrick Stewart in Extras
All I can say is LOL. Might just get it if it's cheap enough. It has content relevant to my interests.
@Inc You're using victims of sexual assault as human shields to defend your indignation against sexuality in general. Stop that.
@TG16_IS_BAE
Whoooo? googles Ah. An american political commentator. That's why I've never heard of him. LOL indeed!
Maybe people's reactions (myself included) to games like this isn't about some bigger narrative. Maybe it's simply about NintendoLife putting time and effort into better games then this (regardless of boobs/violence/bloodshed or whatever)? Honestly, NL do a great job of reporting on Nintendo stuff that other sites do not. That's why I come here. And why I hold them to a better standard.
@Inc Hey man, you do you, no harm in that! There's room on the website for everybody, including anime boobies lol.
Also Ben Shapiro, while he sometimes makes good points, can be annoying as heck! I think a lot of political commentators lose themselves to their followings, at some point. Even Jordan Peterson, who started off sounding so benign and helpful, is starting to sound like a cult leader in some of his speeches.
@Fath Hmm. Not my take on it. I have no problem with sexuality in games. But I do hold NL to a higher standard and this article just came across as... tasteless? I don't know. Maybe I'm overthinking it. It's just a game at the end of the day.
@LUIGITORNADO
I like cartoon girls and real life girls....
@TG16_IS_BAE Word. You have a good evening.
PS: I still have no idea who these people are. UK commenter right here! Haha.
And, as always, nobody thinks of the children... 😀
@Kalmaro Well that’s very mature and politically correct of you, Sir Knight.
So...why are you here exactly?
@premko1 Children need boobs too.
@Tibob W4nking
@Inc I’m UK also, but have lived in the states most of my life. God save the queen. 😀
@UncleJungle Yes, co-op one-finger mode of development studio One Hand Free Studios latest game... Sounds like a party everyone wants to be part of.
@Inc Eroticism is more tasteful than the endless hordes of games in which you’re encouraged to mutilate other human beings.
@HappyMaskedGuy Because the article said "Will you be downloading this one? Let us know with a comment."
With the implication being that they'd want to hear even if you don't want it.
I’m always amazed that so many people don’t realise that straight girls buy and enjoy these games too.
They seem to think that anything remotely kinky or erotically fantastical is directly related to real world exploitation.
If it wasn’t so counterproductive, it’d be adorable.
Summertime Saga on Switch.
It’s time, Nintendo.
@Inc I am sorry for having that knee jerk reaction to your original comment. I hope you too have a good, wine-filled evening.
@HappyMaskedGuy I think a lot about that. There’s a line a draw for myself when it comes to violence, and the more visceral and realistic it is, the less inclined I am to play it. Like no Doom 2016, no Mortal Kombat X/11.
But it seems like 95% of games are based around some form of fighting, so if they start making more games centered around anime boobies I can’t complain lol
@TG16_IS_BAE Good man 👍
@Kalmaro You got me there.
You win a free copy of Waifu Uncovered!
@TG16_IS_BAE Indeed, I too don't get how violence is ok but (cartoons of) human anatomy isn't (aren't). Not that I think this is completely harmless, but definitely less so than the insane realistic ultra violence people are so keen on white-knighting with articles about how violence in games does not lead to violence in real life - to which I also don't really pick a side because I do think it messes with our minds.
But hey, I'm a vegan sissy and I should "grow a pair", but I'm insane for going into conflict with the government over taxes because they're relentless and dangerous gangsters (which I know), but suddenly aren't when I'm not willingly letting them force me to crowdfund wars, animal death camps, and mass deforestation. Then suddenly I'm "not an honest tax payer" (this is an oversimplification of what's going on obviously, and probably not a discussion to dive deeper into on a nintendo forum). Double standards are the reason I'm labeled "autistic", I simply can't get my thoughts and emotions to deal with them or get around them, let alone conform to and comply with them.
@Inc
Animated characters have been assaulted? Last I checked they don’t have feelings.
Haha, I'm still loving how Nintendo is allowing lewd stuff like this and Sony's is going full censorship nowadays. ^^ The game isn't my cup of tea though. I'd still prefer a mainline Senran Kagura brawler on Switch.
I'm not sure why people play these games in 2020.
@GameOtaku I think you misunderstood.
@HappyMaskedGuy Nooooo my virgin eyes!
How hilarious and inevitable!
Just.....no....
@Inc Nothing wrong with overthinking things in my book; it's not thinking things all the way through, or managing to get it all down in words, that causes more problems IMHO.
Say, if somebody wanted to comment that this game reeks of using titillation as a cheap cash grab to excuse bad and frankly soulless game design, and they were worried that the free uncritical publicity NL was giving them by publishing this article irresponsibly encouraged that sort of laziness, that would be a reasonable critique.
Or, if somebody suspected that this game might be dipping its toes into the seeming trend in modern games with sexualized content to allow, or even encourage, the player to strip and/or grope characters without consequence even when they're explicitly telling you to stop, and were worried that these sort of depictions might be giving kids real and serious misconceptions about what consent looks like in real life, that would be a valid concern under any circumstances that would be even more poignant given the recent stories of abuse in the gaming community.
Anyway, though, I recognize the pattern of just wanting to get a hot take off your chest, and remorse when it blows up in your face a bit - I've done it myself plenty of times. No hard feelings; have a good evening
So... Nintendo is into cartoon child porn? What the heck!
If they name the Viruses "Covid", this is a day one purchase for me. I've got to do my best to cleanse as many people as possible.
Well this won’t sit well with NLife.
.....Wait a second...i-is...is this a ripoff on Deep Space Waifu? Really? lol
Yes!! Almost there, now we just need a full on hardcore game where you can have sex and go full on hentai! Love these pervert games! The right arm is strong with this one!
This looks awful. It's a bit juvenile for my taste but the main problem is the sprites clash with the background. Very hard to see what's going on.
@RPGamer By the teenage looking cartoon girls.
One finger is all you need...
I’m assuming a waifu isn’t something you put in your ice cream?
Oh, over 100 comments. I think a review for this game is an order. Doesn’t look all that interesting though.
Oh man guys, just remember, games that feature intense violence, murder, genocide, nuclear war, rape, drug use, kidnapping, backstabbing, mind control, terrorism and literal Nazis - totally fine.
But anime boobies are the root of all evil! And you should be ashamed for playing games with them. Yes, you, you in particular, person reading this comment, shame on you! Stop looking at anime girls and go play the torture mini-game in GTA5 like a good westerner!
(All that said, this looks like a heck of a budget title)
Welp, given the current climate, it's understandable why some people are getting up in arms over sexy/revealing/risque drawings. Reminds me of the big fuss over violence in video games in the 90s.
1. These are fictional characters. They have no rights because they are not real. It is in the realm of fantasy.
2. There is no evidence that shows consuming this content (or movies, tv shows, books) correlates with sexual harassment (or violence, murder, drug use, poor life decisions in general).
3. People that do commit said things would do those things without consuming video games, movies, tv shows, books, or other forms of entertainment, as they did for tens of thousands of years before such forms of entertainment existed.
4. No one should support censorship of any kind. Censorship is a bad thing for creators and consumers. If someone doesn't want to create something, or if someone doesn't want to buy something, that's completely fine and is their right. Same goes for people who want to create and consume such things.
5. Since fictional characters have no actual age beyond when they as a concept were created, their fictional age is irrelevant besides the story the creator is trying to portray. Beyond that, art is inherently subjective, one might look at the Mona Lisa and say she looks to be in her 50's, another might say she looks like she's in her 40's, and still another might say she looks like she's in her 30's, and so on. In actuality, the Mona Lisa is over 500 years old.
6. "This is not a pipe". (google it)
7. If some movie, book, tv show, or video game offends you, look away and move on with your day, your week, your year, your decade, and finally, with you life. Better yourself. Go make a difference helping real people with real problems that desperately need it. Worry not about some movie, book, tv show, or video game, because even if you make sure violent video games, or risque video games, or boring video games, or bad video games, will never be made again and all of them that were ever made was censored, removed from peoples' possession, and destroyed, violence, sexual harassment, murder, adultery, rape, gun violence, gangs, drug use and abuse, hunger, climate change, etc etc etc will still exist and will not be impacted in the slightest by doing so.
Anyway, good for Nintendo. Sony really dropped the ball with their censorship practices. The game doesn't look like my type of thing tho.
It's not a crime to not like sexually charged games just like it's not a crime to dislike violent games.
People are allowed to have opinions.
Also just for the record and thousandth time it's not censorship to not release games like this on your console just like it's not censorship to not sell pornography at a women's clothing shop. It's a private industry that is free to enforce its own standards however it likes.
@lordzand No but it is censorship when said company won't sell your product unless you remove/hide/cover up/censor certain parts/aspects of it.
And no one said they weren't allowed to do such a thing, of course they are allowed to. But being allowed to do something doesn't make that act of doing said thing right or good.
Waifu "why is your joycon all sticky?"
this MAY be good but please keep your Fire Emblem out of my Waifu... Thank You. and I'll keep our Waifu out of The traditional Fire Emblem and stop screwing up an otherwise great game.
I give this two thumbs up!
@Cool_Squirtle Because they are flawed human beings.
Don’t worry. The purge of the robotic supermen will take care of it soon. Rest easy, little one.
@Shambo I also am vegan, have ADHD, and am very much a lover, not a fighter.
@Kalmaro YA KNOW YA WANT IT!
TAKE IT!
@Fandabidozi Careful Jimmy, you have a pantomime legacy to protect!
I'm gonna have to get me another screen protector.
@HappyMaskedGuy Either I don't get your point or you don't get mine. Can you please explain who's invoking what traits as an excuse for their prudishness? I'm a lover and a fighter. But to me "love" isn't what we see here, it's respect and understanding (even if it's just understanding that we do not understand everything). And fighting doesn't mean attacking first or coming back for revenge with bigger guns, it's showing those exploiting you and your brothers and sisters that they chose the wrong ones to abuse, and if they simply back off, if they let live and be free, no one else gets harmed, and all can live and be free. There's either harmony or separation, and if there's not, I fight with de-escalation and freedom of systematic oppression (animal agriculture for example) in mind, not a new power structure with me on top.
My point is that they simply should be a bit MORE careful with glorifying violence, and a lot LESS censoring with normal human anatomy and interaction so we don't get as many frustrated people, possibly leading to assault and under respectful circumstances unattainable expectations. And that double standards shouldn't exist, especially not if we want to understand each other better -whether that brings us together or pulls us apart in mutual understanding- instead of going to war over our differences (as is pretty much the standard way of doing things nowadays, it seems). I hope I helped clear something up here, even if it is just the fact that I'm the one who misunderstood your reaction.
@Shambo Yeah, I must have misread you. My apologies.
@RPGamer No, I don't watch. I find it to be a generic form of animation. Plus, all the male and female faces look the same. Talk about low budget.
@HappyMaskedGuy Well, at least Summer Time Saga is free, so there's that, but graphically, it ain't all that much, huh?
If they were to go that route, then I'd propose a couple of other titles, namely Acting Lessons and Being A DIK, from the aptly named indie developer Dr. PinkCake.
They're available on Steam, and after having played the second game,
I can honestly say that it's probably the best looking adult game I've ever played. Well, at least character-wise. Some of the environments could do with some more work, but considering it's all being made by just one person...
And contrary to most of these types of games, the one I played actually also had an engaging and interesting story line, besides all the obvious naughty bits, which was a pleasant surprise to me.
Uh.........ok then I guess....
@RPGamer It's all fiction, none of it is real, none. I'm not arguing that either should be banned - I am pointing out that the vast majority of people who tend to throw fits about this kind of thing are often times okay with insane levels of violence in other games and media. And I often site GTA and Call of Duty because those games are done in a realistic style and setting. Anime is inherently unrealistic (it could be argued that that is the point of anime)
The argument that sexuality is somehow in any way worse than violence is one that drives me up a wall.
Add into the mix the racist "Japan is full of perverts" trope too - if you really want to piss me off. Netflix and Netflix originals are some of the most popular western TV these days. I watch a lot of their shows and they are bursting with sex scenes. Almost every episode of Luke Cage he is sleeping with someone as just one example. And again, I'm not saying to not have that - I liked those shows.
I'm saying don't throw a fit about anime boobs if you're okay with super hero shows full of sex scenes. Don't whine about Japan being a perverted nation and then turn around and claim America or Europe are clean and pure. And don't try to ever argue that violence is fine but sex is taboo.
If someone wants to take a honest and consistent, legitimate position against sex and violence in media then and only then, can I respect them. I still am not going to agree but at least I can respect them. But I have zero respect for someone claiming the hypocrisies I listed above.
@ThanosReXXX It’s nice to see people discuss adult games.
Sex ain’t nothin’ to be ashamed of.
Do we actually see any nipples?
@RPGamer Naw dude, I wasn't arguing with you. lol
@RPGamer And, oddly, the most mature people here...
@HappyMaskedGuy Truer words have never been spoken.
Now go and play Being A DIK, if you haven't done so already...
@ThanosReXXX Will do, Mr Thanos.
@HappyMaskedGuy If you actually end up doing so, be sure to let me know what you think of it. I wouldn't want to have given a bad recommendation...
@ThanosReXXX hey bud- I finally finished Shadow Of The Vampire. It was wonderful. Thank you for recommending it.
@DoktorTotenKopf You're very welcome, user formerly known as NoNoseNosferatu... ?
@ThanosReXXX not the no nose some may know but someone you might know.
@DoktorTotenKopf Care to elaborate? You've caught me in an ever so slightly inebriated condition...
@ThanosReXXX let’s just say I’ve been around for eons and we’ve crossed many a path.
@DoktorTotenKopf I'm honestly racking my brain right now, thinking about who else I recommended that movie to, and I'm coming up with nothing so far. Oh, well...
@ThanosReXXX no worries, mate. Just glad we crossed paths again. Also- feel free share more recommendations in the future. Games films or otherwise.
@DoktorTotenKopf So, no lifting of any lids, then? Not even a little?
I honestly hate mysteries, no offense. And on a side note: I'd like to know who I'm talking to.
If you made a new account because you were banned or something,
I can understand the secrecy, but otherwise, not so much.
As for the movie recommendations: that's actually not something I do very often, to be honest. It just came about in the conversation with NoNoseNosferatu, so it was a natural flow in my exchange with him.
@ThanosReXXX you are right on the money on all counts, good sir.
@DoktorTotenKopf Ah, well. Personally, I never got any further than an official warning, so I can imagine being banned must really suck. The truth of what was the cause of it, will probably lie somewhere in the middle, it's almost never a one-way street, save for the odd exception.
Either way, hope you've cleared your head about that experience, and that you'll be able to hang around here for a bit longer.
A partial hint to the artist that was formerly you would still be nice, though...
@ThanosReXXX I am a spectre on the Internet, an electric ghost, haunting various social networks and portals with leisure and possess many masks and guises...
@DoktorTotenKopf So... many... Mario... question mark... blocks...
@ThanosReXXX Mwahahaha
@DoktorTotenKopf Crazy question: what are your thoughts on pineapple on pizza?
@ThanosReXXX -shifts eyes right to left- I enjoy it quite a bit...
If someone doesn’t like it or not, it matters not to me in the slightest. I don’t knock those that enjoy it or vice versa.
@DoktorTotenKopf So... does the word "Reader" mean anything in regards to your former name?
@ThanosReXXX I should have been more clear- vampires and ghosts are a familiar trope with my earlier incarnations...
@DoktorTotenKopf So, vampires and stuff, but no NoNoseNosferatu... I'm kind of at a loss here...
@ThanosReXXX I've been known to have been wander about eternity without a nose...
@DoktorTotenKopf So you ARE him? I was already wondering who else I recommended that movie to. The plot thickens, though: the other user profile is still there as well...
@ThanosReXXX unable to access it, sadly. Hence the new flesh.
@DoktorTotenKopf I assume by "access" you mean edit? I can access it just fine, so it seems public, unless of course the restriction is on an individual basis, which would make sense with a site-applied restriction.
Either way, again: welcome back, we'll chat some more later. Glad you liked the movie. I do have a series to recommend, now that I think about it, and it is one that contrary to many other shows actually had a good ending. It's called The Strain, and it's about vampires in a modern, more realistic setting than most other vampire related series.
Maybe you already know about it, but in case you don't, or if you do but have never bothered to actually watch it, then I can heartily recommend it. There's 4 seasons in total, and it's a fully completed story line, so no loose ends left hanging. The original network it was on, was FX, but it is now viewable on Netflix.
@ThanosReXXX I’ve watched a couple episodes. LOVED what I’ve seen so far; Guillermo Del Toro never disappoints. Thanks for suggesting it- I’ll definitely watch it in full.
@DoktorTotenKopf Yeah, it's pretty good. Grabbed me from the very first episode, and I've been hooked all the way to the last episode.
Just out of curiosity: did you mean you watched them just now, or already some time ago?
@ThanosReXXX about a year or so back, I believe. My best friend got me into it.
@DoktorTotenKopf Ah, I see. Well, at least that's a friend with good taste, then.
@ThanosReXXX oh, most definitely. He also got me into Farscape, Firefly and Buffy.
@DoktorTotenKopf All great shows in their own right. I watched them all, and I still own the entire Buffy series and the Firefly movie.
@ThanosReXXX awesome
