Re: Saber Interactive CEO Doesn't Think $70 Video Games Are Sustainable

GamerGrandpa

I agree with several others on here. I don't mind the price for a good games: one that is complete at launch and doesn't have performance issue where you can barely enjoy it until it is patched later on. There is no excuse for them releasing a game they know is sub-par quality just to get it out to market. They test the games before release (I assume) so they know the quality of the game beforehand.

Re: GameStop Hit By Layoffs As Analyst Predicts 'Unsustainable' Sales Decline

I'll hate it if they don't make it. But it's the way of the world now. It's nice having a dedicated gaming store, but it's obviously not feasible since they do not make much money off of new games. I do not want to ever have to rely on Walmart or Amazon for my gaming, I use them as sparingly as possible anyway for whatever I may need. I won't mind going digital I guess.

Yeah it's crazy how much people whine over NSO. Even if you pay the $50 per year just yourself it is good value (not to mention like others have said that there is the family plan option). I agree it would be nice to be able to buy them too like on Virtual Console, but this is so much cheaper. I spent probably $2,000 on Virtual Console games between Wii and Wii U, that would take 40 years to do at $50 per year. You're never gonna make everyone happy I guess. There will always be someone to complain, even about a games service that is less than $5 per month that includes many games that are some of the best of all time.

Re: The Pokémon Company Releases Official Statement About Palworld

GamerGrandpa

Yeah I agree with others on here. I'm sure the developers covered themselves to where they are safe, but there can't be much doubt at all that they purposefully made the creatures look similar to Pokemon to help sell it. Everytime I see a thumbnail picture for one of the articles on this site I immediately think it might be a Pokemon article before I read the title.

Re: Hands On: WarioWare Move It! Takes Us Right Back To A Wii Classic

GamerGrandpa

Nice! Our family had a lot of fun with Smooth Moves back in the day. Loved all of the creative uses of the Wiimote that it featured (one of the most-creative was it being used as a fingernail clipper and clipping a toenail. You pushed the button to snip it and the click sound coming out of the remote). Good times.

Re: 'Hidden Gems: Volume One' Brings Four Classic Commodore 64 Games To Switch Tomorrow

@Don
I don't know. It is pretty good value. There are what, 220 legacy games on NSO and growing (some of them formerly unavailable to us in the U.S.)? Plus the SP versions, DLC, a few original games here and there, game trials.... All for what works out to $4.17 per month for the expansion pack ($6.67 for the family plan)? I can see the frustration of wanting to be able to keep the games after the service is stopped like it was for the Wii and Wii U. But I spent close to $2,000 on Virtual Console and Wiiware games that are still on my Wii U. There are many games that I bought that I wouldn't have if I was able to play them otherwise (City Connection, Balloon Fight...). I agree it would be nice to have the option to purchase games individually but that does not make the NSO overpriced by any means nor does it make it some villainous tactic by Nintendo.

Re: Talking Point: How Do You Store Your Games Collection?

GamerGrandpa

Just have a game case with Switch games in it. I guess do also have a small collection of Wii/Wii U games in the playroom for my granddaughter. Long past the days of a large game collection. Back in my bachelor days (mid-1990's) I took great care and pride in a large, organized game collection on book shelves (NES, SNES, N64, Sega Genesis, Sega Saturn, Game Boy, Sega Game Gear). All of that has long gone the way of eBay and other collectors.

Re: Random: Sony's Upcoming 'Project Q' Is A Little More Wii U Than Switch

GamerGrandpa

@Fizza
Yes. Sony will never be able to redeem themselves for the Playstation Move. I remember almost falling out of my chair in embarrassment for Sony when it was first revealed. It was such an obvious rip-off to try and cash-in on the success of the Wii at the time. Then it turned out to be an unnecessary overreaction since the PS3 ending up doing great after the slow start it had. Oh well

Re: Review: Pokémon Stadium - The Original 151 Brought To Life With Style

@Wisps
I feel the same way. It is more of a fun challenge to only use the Pokemon in the game and not transfer your own ready made team. I do understand this game maybe not being worthy of the same score it originally got since you are missing a key element/feature of that game. But great fun still.

But there are still some who continually gripe about the NSO expansion anyway (even at an average of less than $5 per month!). Oh well.

Re: Video: Looking Back On Animal Crossing: New Horizons Three Years Later

They should have supported this with more updates and items, periodically at least. I know we got the one huge update last year. Once you've done everything, caught everything, found everything, bought everything there's not much reason to go back to it regularly. They made plenty of money off it surely (it has sold what, 30million copies?)
