Re: Kit And Krysta Reveal Their Least Favourite Mario And Zelda Games

GamerGrandpa

I agree New Super Mario 2 seemed a lot easier than other Mario games, and is probably one of my least favorite ones. But I did love the coin rush mode. That was a neat little extra that gave me a lot of extra playtime out of it, seeing how many coins I could accumulate and seeing how your totals stacked up against others (especially through StreetPass)

Re: Soapbox: Why Can't Nintendo Offer Both Virtual Console And Switch Online?

GamerGrandpa

@Illusion
That's how I feel as well. The NSO is not overpriced. I have no problem with it if, like you say, it moves onto the Switch successor with same content it has and does not start over again. I have about 120 games on Wii VC and then I paid the small upgrade fee to redownload them on Wii U simply for the ability to play them on the tablet. A lot of people balked at the idea of having to pay for the games again then (and understandably so). They should have found a way to migrate the entire catalog over to each successive system.

I agree that they should offer both, the subscription service and the ability to buy individual titles. Though with 75 NES games, 52 SNES games, 11 (5 more confirmed) N64 games, 19 Sega Genesis games available, it could get expensive a-la-carte at even $5 per game.

Re: Poll: Will Mario Kart 8's Deluxe Booster Course Pass Make You Buy The NSO Expansion Pack?

GamerGrandpa

@UglyCasanova
Must be some misinformation out there I guess. My NSO has 70+ NES, 50+ SNES, 11 N64, 19 Genesis games, and the DLC’s. It’s one thing if you’re not interested in the Nintendo legacy content and being content to just pay for the DLC’s outright, so that the NSO doesn’t have anything to interest you. That’s different than thinking it not worth the price for what is offered.

Re: Poll: Will Mario Kart 8's Deluxe Booster Course Pass Make You Buy The NSO Expansion Pack?

GamerGrandpa

The expanded online is $49 for a year! $4 per month?! I still do not see why there is an uproar over it? I remember hearing people complain about paying so much per game for old games on Wii and then having to pay an upgrade fee to have them on Wii-U. Then we heard rumors of a "Netflix-style" service and people were intrigued. Now that it is here, they are dissatisfied anyway. Oh well .I guess it shouldn't surprise me. You can never please everyone.

Re: New Pokémon Snap Took 'Many Years Of Trial And Error', Core Concept Could Have Been Changed

GamerGrandpa

The Wii U was the perfect console to try a new Pokemon Snap game with the gamepad controller. Of course that would have required playing the game virtually entirely on the TV and using the gamepad screen for the camera view. I know that many were hesitant for doing games like this since a large portion of gamers played games solely on the gamepad (or at least wanted the option) similar to a handheld. But I really enjoyed when games made use of both the TV screen and the gamepad screen. Like Lego City Undercover where the chief popped up on the gamepad screen as your communicator.

Re: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Has Now Outsold Mario Kart Wii

GamerGrandpa

@Grandiajet 'Yeah it is crazy. The DLC for it on Wii U surely made them lots of money for not too awfully much effort? A new DLC pack at the same price as the original one and now with almost 40 million copies out there... should have been a no-brainer for Nintendo.

Re: Nintendo Switch Online's N64 Games Need Some Work

GamerGrandpa

@mereel
That's what I was thinking. Am I missing something? It is $49 for a year (here in the U.S. anyway). That works out to $4 per month. There are a lot of games on there between the now 4 systems represented so far. I have no problem with it. Oh well

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's Business Remains Strong, But Is The Bloom Off Switch Lite?

GamerGrandpa

Yeah they should have made a way to play the Switch Lite on the TV and just not sell it with a dock. You would still get a cheaper version for those who play almost exclusively handheld, while also giving them the option to buy joycons and a dock or other attachment to play Mario Kart with friends and family. It's not really a true "Switch" if you take away that key function of being able to Switch between home console and handheld!

Re: Feature: Our Most Treasured Zelda Memories

GamerGrandpa

While Link to the Past will always be my favorite (maybe!), I remember loving Wind Waker so much when playing it for the first time. All you heard up to launch was negativity regarding the "cartoony" art style. Even my son and friends were skeptical after playing OOT and MM and expecting a "more-realistic" art style for Zelda. Boy was everyone wrong! It had all the fun, charm, excitement you expect (and should expect) from a Zelda game made by Nintendo.

Re: Poll: Zelda: Skyward Sword HD Is Out Today On Switch, Are You Getting It?

GamerGrandpa

Have to go pick mine up from GameStop later. Only played the game once originally back in the day. Mainly because with Wii U and Switch I do a bigger portion of my gaming handheld mode. Now with traditional controls I can. I realize a lot of people are put off by the $60 price, but doesn’t bother me. I’ll get money’s worth out of it. It would be nice if these ports were a little cheaper than the new games, but that’s reality these days.
