I would probably agree with Most Wanted too. I've only played a few of them overall (Hot Pursuit included). I do have fond memories of my son and I playing it back then.
I remember being so excited to play the Lost Levels when Super Mario Allstars was released. I loved it, but man it was definitely hard compared to the original. I could see why they made the decision to repackage the other game for Super Mario 2 in the U.S. It was just a great game anyway.
@Daniel36 Yeah they've been around for a long time. Interesting that it wasn't in your country until the 2000's. I remember watching Nickelodeon as a kid in the very early 1980's, of course I am in the U.S. too.
Yeah I might get it just for the nostalgia factor. The first game came out when I was in high school. I remember renting it and being a little frustrated with it and having a little better time with the second one. Never played the PS1 game.
Yeah they need to stick to what they are doing best like the PS5/Pro. They ALWAYS panic and jump into copying Nintendo. I remember when the Playstation Move was announced. I almost fell out of my chair and felt red-faced embarrassment for Sony. They didn't even try to hide it. They made a motion wand controller with an accompanying navigation controller to try and cash-in on some of the success of the Wii at the time. The PS3 was a great console and turned out to be successful and would have anyway without the Move. I loved my PS3 and had a PS4 for a little while, but have been almost solely Switch/Switch 2 for the past 8 years. If I were to get a PS6 it would be for the console and not a handheld.
I remember putting in a lot of time on the SNES game back in the day. It was cool that you could use the SNES mouse with it. (Though I wouldn't play it much now probably, given the chance. It definitely is a product of its time. I loved the books of course.).
I was pleasantly surprised with the GBA Third Age game. I have always been fond of turn-based strategy games
Man, I remember buying Street Fighter II for SNES back in the day. Was a pleasant surprise, especially after who knows how many quarters I spent on the arcade version. Good times!
That would be cool. I remember being able to use the SNES mouse with Wolfenstein and Lord of the Rings too. (Of course we won't be getting either of those on NSO Classics!)
@Ryu_Niiyama Yeah I could go for that. Just give us all the Nintendo console games from Rare Replay on NSO. (Plus the Capcom Disney games we never got for some inexplicable reason).
It seems silly, but they had it coming. I like how people keep defending them and making Nintendo the villain here. PocketPair obviously and blatantly ripped off Pokemon designs to sell their game. Nintendo couldn't sue them for that in Japan I guess, so they went the only route they could. Like others have said here, PocketPair has made a ton of money and this does little to cut in to what they have made.
They knew exactly what they were doing when they made their game. Every time I see a thumbnail for this game I immediately think Pokemon first. The creatures look way too much like Pokemon for them to not have realized this when they were making it. They were banking on being successful on the platforms that do not have Pokemon. Nothing wrong with being "inspired by" but this went beyond that.
Man, a lot of memories of Goldeneye, Mario Kart 64, Killer Instinct, etc. I was in college when those games came out and the N64 was the perfect multiplayer machine with 4-players right out of the box. It came with the gray controller and I added a red, blue, and yellow one
I was delighted when the granddaughter pulled out a pack of Pokemon cards and stickers from her Happy Meal yesterday. We assumed it would be Sonic 3 toys still
I enjoyed the SNES game when it came out (I was almost in college by then), but it is obviously not a great game I would say now. I enjoyed the the GBA version of The Third Age (I believe that's right). It was actually a RTS instead of an RPG/Action game compared to the Gamecube version.
@Bolt_Strike @Dee123
Yeah that's the main reason Nintendo is going after them. There is no way any gamer looks at pics and thumbnails from this game and doesn't first think it looks like a Pokemon game. A lot of people on here want to villianize Nintendo and GameFreak or whoever when PocketPair knew what they were doing when they created creatures that look so much inspired by well-known Pokemon designs.
I like how they put in: "are not hindered or discouraged from pursuing their creative ideas". They are making a LOT of money off their game that is "inspired by" Pokemon.
@Olliemar28 Sorry, man. You guys can't win no matter what. If you had waited for the official translation, the outcry would have been "I already heard this on another site! This is old news!". Oh well
Hmm. Only Yu-Gi-Oh! game I ever remember playing is one on the Gamecube. My son had it back then when it came out and I remember watching that first anime that came out on US TV.
@nukatha Yeah I always thought Nintendo should have done more with the SNES mouse and carried it forward. The Wii had so much potential too in regards to using the wiimote as a mouse. A missed chance to get some popular PC games on there that would have had an advantage over the other consoles (SimCity, Diablo, StarCraft, Doom, etc.). I seem to remember the Wii U version of Minecraft not having the gamepad to be used for item management and building, etc. Some rumors were it would have made it a potentially better version to the other console versions, so Mojang/Microsoft didn't implement it. Oh well.
@-wc-
They always make it sound like the issues are a surprise after launch. They supposedly test these games before they are released, right? Or at least I assumed they did. Even if it works great on whatever development machine they are using, you'd think they would test it out on Switch hardware too to make sure. This practice of all these companies knowingly releasing unfinished/imperfect games and hoping gamers are patient enough to buy it and then stick with it while they release patches is getting ridiculous.
Yikes. Those are some pretty obvious influences. Sony has done that quite a bit over the years in regards to Nintendo. Oh well. If the game is good that is great for PS5 owners.
@Divide_and_Wander That's awesome. I also have fond memories of games like that (football that was X's and O's and text only, RPG's that were text and still pictures. Had to use the ol' imagination to go along with it. Good stuff!
I went with the SNES carts. (Of course the SNES is still probably my most fond system!). I remember when eBay first came along, I was able to buy those little clear plastic covers that went on the bottom of the cartridge in bulk so that all of the games in my collection had one.
I agree it does depend on the game, but $60 wasn't too much for Super Mario RPG or TTYD. Fast food meals can cost $12 these days. Everything has gone up in price (TV's are about the only thing that has gone down in price). They could feasibly go cheaper for a digital copy over a physical copy, but you'd have people complain about that too. I also second you on the price never dropping. They should at least do Selects like they used to, especially on games that sell over 10million.
Excited to give this a try. I was young when this came out originally. Had a friend whose older brother had a computer and remember this being one of the games we watched him play, along with Kings Quest
@FIS-PODCAST I agree it is silly. It works out to be less than $5 per month for the NSO expansion and people still complain. I guess they'll just complain about anything. The ONLY THING that would give me pause is if it doesn't just seamlessly carry over to the next console. That was annoying. Having to pay a fee to redownload Virtual Console games to the Wii U that we had already paid for on the Wii (I paid it anyway and redownloaded all of them of course).

SO MANY great games. I was in high school back then. So many fond memories of the ol' SNES.
Would love a chance to somehow play Ogre Battle again. Played it several times back then but I don't think I ever got the best ending.
