Indie studio Troglobytes Games has revealed that a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign will soon be launching for its upcoming twin-stick shooter HyperParasite.
We first reported on this one at the start of last month, noting its funky '80s-inspired visuals and fast-paced action. With work now well underway on the title, Troglobytes Games is seeking to raise $29,000 to "accelerate development, and to aid the porting to consoles".
The campaign will go live on 10th October (which is next Wednesday) and a link has already been set up to get ready for the big event. Naturally, the pledge rewards and any potential stretch goals are yet to be revealed, so make sure to check back on the day of the campaign's launch to find out more. You can also try out a demo of the game on Steam as we speak.
HyperParasite is aiming for a 2019 release on Switch, with the success of this campaign no doubt being an important step towards that goal. We'll leave you with this feature list to learn a little more about what you can expect:
Game Features:
- A fresh twist on the genre: hop from one host body to another
- 60 Playable Characters to Body-Snatch and utilise their attributes
- Unique retro 3D-pixelated visual style
- Original retro inspired synth-wave soundtrack
- Cast+weapons includes - cops+guns, Werewolves+claws, robots+lasers, aliens and so much more
- Procedurally generated levels that will play differently each time, challenging even the most seasoned of players
- An intense and frantic co-op mode: can the humans handle TWO HyperParasites?
Will you be pledging your support?

NO!
NO!
Remember when this site did weekly Kickstarter articles? Wow that was a long time ago, during the dark ages....
Looked decent at first, but they lost me when the words RogueLike showed up in the trailer. Pass.
Guys, give it a go on Steam. It’s a cracking game, the visuals are purposefully ramped back in like an ode to PS One styled titles.
If you’re old enough to remember Smash TV, you’ll love this.
That train has passed
Dead Cells is the last procedurally generated game I’m gonna do. I’m over them.
Tough crowd!
This actually looks quite good. Switch has a lot of twin stick shooters but not many great ones. Hopefully this will turn out well.
@OorWullie I love how people judge without even giving the pre-alpha a whirl. We only take quality titles on at Hound Picked Games, I stand by this with HyperParasite, it’s a great title.
I am not sure from the video if I would like this or not. I do know that I am getting tired of rogue like games and Kickstarter campaigns.
Just let it go. A big No! To roguelikes and pixel art and anything like that.
Looks like the Venom symbiote. Hopefully it’s not a turd in the wind.
@dew12333 You okay there bud?
@AlternateButtons looks like the game is 3D,. Also, Owl Boy IS pixel-art.
Don't know if this game is cool or not, but sure as hell I'll give it a shot. I got a soft spot for all things 80s and roguelikes/lites.
I'm confused as to how this is a kixkstarter now? I saw the trailer for this game just as a releasea couple of months ago.
@Steel76 Agreed, it's utter garbage. If i read that i instantly lose interest.
I don't really understand what's wrong with people and roguelike/lite games: it's a genre like any other. We could say there are too many FP shooters, too many racing simulations, too many MOBA, too many Battle Royale, etc. If you don't like it, move on and play your favourite genre...
Hard pass. I'll call the taxi.
@donzen
Hi Luca, apologies if I came off sounding rude, I know making games is tough and didn’t intend to offend. I’ve given a few RogueLike games a try but I’ve come to the conclusion it’s a genre that isn’t for me. Along with the growing popularity of SoulsLike difficult games.
I’d give the beta a try on Steam, but my laptop just died and my PC died last year. I honestly have no desire to replace them as I really don’t have a need for a computer these days.
Best of luck with your game!
@donzen
Hi, Obviously to expand on the rather short comment, ignore the double post it was not to 'shout' my opinion, just a double tap.
With regards to the game it is more that this is not a type of game 'I' tend to play, but I actually like the look of the game and wish the industry would stop spending time of aesthetics and care more about the gameplay. I can see that lots of people would enjoy the frantic pace of the game, and it also looks like you have expanded and added some depth to this style of game. However I think a demo would be a much fairer way of judging how the game plays and feels. Unfortunately I only have a switch so couldn't help any further, but wish you the best of the luck.
But my main reason to comment is with regard to 'crowdfunding' , I just don't like this business model and hear too many indifferent stories of people experiences.
