I already have it on wii u but the hero mode might persuade me to pick it up again when I get a switch. Hopefully there'll be a physical option by then.
Funny thing. The switch might be in competition with PS4 and Xbox One but its biggest direct competitor is the Wii U. Both will have similar games for the first year but the wii u will have a bigger library. The switch wins on portability. The Wii U then wins on free online, more apps and cheaper games.
If xenoblade 2 comes in 2017 I'll pick up the switch then. Otherwise I'll be waiting until 2018. My wii u should still get another year of solid play regardless.
I'm not fully fluent in management speak so forgive my rough translation. Once translated I believe it means "we'll have a little third party support this year but if the hardware sales are good we might get better support next year".
The switch itself seems good. The main problems I see are the pricing model, charging for online and the lack of good games different to those on Wii U for the first year. All those problems can be rectified by nintendo if they wish so I'm not writing the switch off yet.
For me in europe the switch feels like its 150 euro over priced. €330 for the basic system without a game is too steep for me. Needs to be about €230 with a game.
My five franchises would be: 1. Metroid Prime. 2. Battalion Wars 3. Disaster Day of Crisis 4. First Person Spy Games similiar to Goldeneye/Perfect Dark. 5. A Mario Golf that uses Wii Motion Plus and a full set of clubs (Not like wii sports resort where you only get a single driver, wood, iron and putter).
If its 250 with a game then it might do well but if its hitting the 300 mark with a game then I'm not so sure. I'm fairly confident it'll sell out at launch but we won't really get an idea of its success until the summer comes.
I picked this game up only a few weeks ago and to be honest the review reads a bit harsh to me. To be fair I've only completed a few of the opening levels so I haven't had as much time with it as Thomas and haven't got hit with any performance issues yet.
What I like about the game is how varied and imaginative the levels are. For instance one minute your in a ship in the sky and the next moment your in the dessert with a truck stop in the distance. I think that randomness is what I like so much about the game.
Wii u is crazy expensive. I feel sorry for anyone who picks one up this christmas at those prices. Especially with only zelda on the horizon for the machine. I hope Nintendo at the very least keep releasing a few titles each year for the next couple of years. Even if its only smaller more budget titles.
I've not been following the japanese charts too much but does anyone know why the PS4 Pro is doing so much worse then the standard console. Its over 10 times less which seems weird to me. On a separate note, well done 3ds. Over a 100k sold between all the different models.
@Nintendofan83 I agree. Its a real pity they haven't done something for the wii u this year. It would have been nice for the system to at least reach the 15m mark.
That yearly projection of 800k seems unrealistically low for wii u. They've already hit 560k units sold with another two quarters to go. One of which is the busiest quarter of the year. I can only think of two possibilities for such a low estimate still. 1. Maybe they think it will look better to smash their sales forecast for the year over the holiday period. 2. They've only produced that many and have already stopped making the system. In which case the wii u will be in short supply over the holidays.
I hope its the first one as I think the wii u at least deserves to pass the 14 million mark as it really is a wonderful little system.
@Moshugan I hope your right as I think it'll be a fun way to use the system. Anyway we'll know for definite in less then half a year. So here's hoping it'll all be good in the end.
@gcunit I'm not saying its a bad controller. I won't know that until I actually use the device myself. But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't worried about how central the stick or buttons are in the +/- controllers.
Am I the only one worried about the placement of the joystick and buttons on the joypad when playing local multiplayer. The + side has the stick right in the middle instead of the side so it might be uncomfortable to use. Also the buttons on the - side suffer from the same fate. We still have 5 months so hopefully nintendo can make a small revision somewhere to minimise this issue.
I taught I'd mention that I really like the idea of the switch and will most likely pick the system up. I just hope its as comfortable as possible when we do play it.
I hope the switch can be synced with the wii u and used as a replacement gamepad. That way I can rest easy that my wii u will be fine in case the gamepad were to break someday.
I'm pretty disappointed with MyNintendo right now. But honestly I wouldn't expect any real change until NX arrives and even then it'll probably take a few more months after launch for the service to bed in properly. Hopefully by this time next year it'll be a much better service then what we have now.
At this stage I'm actually looking forward to this more then Zelda breath of the wild. Well done Playtonic this seems to be the most original and fresh game I've seen since Splatoon.
What games it gets will decide whether or not I pick the NX up. I'm at the stage now where I just want the thing to be announced so people can stop making crazy predictions about what its going to be. We've had a year and a half of every kind of rumour and I for one am very tired of this. My level of excitement for the device is at an all time low. So hopefully it'll get announced soon with some quality titles to get the hype going again.
This would have been a great use for the metroid line of amiibo. And to be fair nintendo would profit from any extra amiibo sales from the venture. Plus the goodwill gesture I'm sure would be appreciated by the fans. To be honest I'm not too upset though as I generally prefer the standard artwork in a game over any bonus skins. They can be fun but most of the time they seem out of place to me.
For a comment tread on weekly Japanese hardware/software sales poor old Other M is getting some bashing today. I quite like that game even if its story is a bit naff by metroid standards.
I can't take this review seriously. When you reference the graphical polish on something this ugly it really makes me question how impartial the reviewer really is. I'll read a few more reviews from other sites before making my mind up but the Impression I have so far is: 1. Solo looks poor and middle of the road at best. 2. Online seems okay but let down by lack of voice chat to help with the coordination of the missions. 3. Local co-op looks like where all the fun of the game is to be had but I get the impression that 3-4 players are needed to get the most out of it.

@Moon thanks
Re: Nintendo Download: 16th March (North America)
@ThomasBW84 any word on the european list. I might have missed it earlier in the week if it was announced but I don't seem to be able to find it.
Re: Shakedown Hawaii Aiming for 3DS This Year, Will Hit 60fps and Support All Models
The jungle bits kinda remind me of cannon fodder back in the day.
Re: Nintendo Confirms Switch Save Data Is Tied To The Console And Cannot Be Transferred
It seems kinda strange that you couldn't move save data to an sd card to free up the on board memory. Hopefully a future update might sort this out.

Re: Video: Nintendo Shows Off Football / Soccer in Latest Mario Sports Superstars Trailer
Does anyone know yet how many courses will be included on the golf part of the game.
Re: Video: Nintendo Shows Off Football / Soccer in Latest Mario Sports Superstars Trailer
@SLIGEACH_EIRE its funny that annoys you as over here in eire, football can be a different sport to soccer and american football.

Re: NieR: Automata Designer is Open to the Idea of a Switch Port
Yes the snes could do with more games. Plus with my supaboy s I'll be able to play it on the go. Make it happen square.

Re: Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia Coming to 3DS on 19th May
This was the best part of the direct by far for me. Good to know my 3ds won't be put out to pasture yet.
Re: Talking Point: Considering the Paid Online Service for the Nintendo Switch
What a load of nonsense. Nintendo should be trying to grow their business not splitting the user base.
Re: Nintendo Forces Us To Think Differently, Says EA's Patrick Söderlund
The best way for him to back up his support for Nintendo would be to announce some games.
Re: Nintendo Switch Will Be Easier To Find Than The NES Classic At Launch, Says Reggie Fils-Aime
If the switch doesn't change its pricing then I could see the 3ds family still being the top selling hardware for Nintendo in 2017.

This feels like a massive step back for nintendo

I love fire emblem

With paid online I think I'll just stick to regular splatoon on Wii U.
Re: Nintendo Introduces ARMS, a New Boxing IP

Re: Nintendo Switch Will Cost £279.99 In The UK
Too expensive for me just now. Especially when you factor in the cost of a game our two.

I'm very disappointed by this.

Re: Feature: It's Time to Vote for Your Nintendo Life Overall Game of the Year

Re: Review: Metroid Prime: Federation Force (3DS)
@-DEMISE- sorry for the mistake.
