Re: Reminder: Rate Your Favourite Switch Games Of The Year 2024

FlashmanHarry

This feels like switches worst year for releases yet. But after 7 years that's to be expected. The strange thing though is that next year is already looking like one of the best (metroid prime 4, xenoblade chronicles X, fantasy life, professor layton). That's crazy for a system that'll be eight in march.

Re: Review: The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom - An Absolute Marvel, But Is It Better Than BOTW?

FlashmanHarry

I just read the review and I don't feel like they've explained much at all. I know a lot of people don't like spoilers but Nintendolife could have made more effort and gone into more detail on some things.
Are the NPC's voice acted this time? You mention the return of towns. Could you give an example of one of the Quests you'll perform in one of these towns? Also how integral will the towns and inhabitants be to the main story?
Speaking of story, we all know there'll be floating islands. Will we be able to reach these islands in the early parts of the game (in the first couple of hours) or is this something that gets introduced later in the game.
How dependent will we be on the new abilities. Can you still complete the game without them or will they be integral for progressing the story?

Re: Mario Movie Surpasses $500 Million Globally, Now The Biggest Video Game Adaptation Ever

FlashmanHarry

@LUIGITORNADO I think you'll find that some things that start off as one thing can branch out and expand into other areas.
I used Star Wars as an example as it's been a video game franchise, for over 40 years. In fact there has been more Star Wars video games made over the years then tomb raider or resident evil games.
Another Example of a franchise expanding beyond its original business would be the Harry Potter Franchise. That started out as a massive book franchise, before it expanded out and became an even bigger movie Franchise.

Re: Mario Movie Already Set To Be The Highest-Grossing Video Game Film Ever

FlashmanHarry

@Ryu_Niiyama First off, well done Nintendo on a successful movie. I don't want to come across as trying to downplay their success.
As for what's the record for a video game movie. I still think they're being very selective for what counts and what doesn't.
You might not class Star Wars as a Video Game Franchise but I would. I see it as a Movie Franchise plus a Video Game Francise.
After all they've been making Star Wars Video games for 40 years now with multiple games across a broad range of game consoles.

Re: Nintendo Switch Sales Surpass 111 Million

FlashmanHarry

@Serpenterror I wouldn't be counting the mini consoles. But I'd expect this generation to end with a comfortable win for Nintendo. The 1 thing I'd take from the head to heads is that Sony has only won 1 generation in the last 15 years.

Re: Nintendo Switch Sales Surpass 111 Million

FlashmanHarry

An interesting point to note between Sony and Nintendo. The Switch vs PS5 is the 7th time the 2 company's have gone head to head in a generation. (Numbers got from vgcharts and measured in millions).
Round 1:
The PS1 took on the N64 and won with a sales record of 102.49 vs 32.93.
1-0 to Sony.
Round 2:
The PS2 took on the Gamecube and gave Nintendo it's biggest beating winning with a sales record of 158.7 vs 21.74.
2-0 to Sony.
Round 3:
Sony feeling confident now decided to enter the handheld space. This time the DS took on the PSP with Nintendo giving Sony its biggest beating with a sales record of 154.02 vs 80.79.
2-1 to Sony.
Round 4:
While the handhelds were fighting it out a new console generation was also released with the Wii taking on the PS3. Once again Nintendo came out on top with sales of 101.63 vs 87.4.
2-2.
Round 5:
Next it was time for the handhelds to go at it once again. This time the 3DS took on the PS Vita and won with sales of 75.94 vs 15.82.
3-2 to Nintendo.
Round 6:
At the same time as the handhelds another set of consoles went head to head with the PS4 taking on the WiiU. This time the PS4 won with current sales of 116.97 vs 13.56.
All square again at 3-3.
Round 7.
Finally we reach the current generation with the Switch taking on the PS5. There's no final score as the generation is still ongoing but the current sales have Switch ahead with sales of 110.71 vs 21.61.

Re: Back Page: Making The Perfect Nintendo Frankenconsole

FlashmanHarry

Quite an interesting list but I would swap the controller from the N64 for the Gamecube controller (It's just too good not to have). That would then free up the most interesting part of the N64 to be used, the expansion port. How great would it be to upgrade your console mid generation without discarding your old console.

Re: Nintendo's Boss Shuntaro Furukawa Warns Of Switch Supply Issues In 2022

FlashmanHarry

I see a few predictions for the next nintendo console and they all seem to focus on the power of it. I'll make my prediction but I'll focus on what I think will be the usp of the new device. Of course it'll be more powerful but not as big a leap as many will hope.
Anyway I think the next nintendo console will be similar to the switch but with one main difference. And that would be that it'll get a folding screen. So for handheld gaming it'll have say for example a 4x6 inch screen. Which could be folded out to a 6x8 inch screen for tabletop play. TV play would be similar to what we have now except maybe it would have a 4K output.

Re: Don't Worry, Zelda: BOTW 2 Is Reportedly Still Aiming To Launch Next Year

FlashmanHarry

@soupwoman 2024 is a good possibility also. 1 thing to keep in mind though is that once the switch successor is released, the switch will also continue to be in production for at least 2 years. Probably doing 5 to 10 million in sales the first year and dropping to a couple of million the second year before being discontinued. That would give it an 8 year life cycle if a successor releases in 2023 or 9 if it releases a year later.

Re: Don't Worry, Zelda: BOTW 2 Is Reportedly Still Aiming To Launch Next Year

FlashmanHarry

@soupwoman I'd expect a new console from nintendo around the start of 2023 and I'd imagine BotW2 to be a launch title.
The main reason is with nintendo only having 1 main hardware platform to support the company, they will need to release their next console with a strong line up of games. If BotW2 is released on switch before the next hardware release. Then nintendo will be looking at probably 4 years without a mainline Zelda on their next console.
