Re: SEGA Teases Brand New Sonic Game, Confirmed For Switch In 2022

FX102A

And thus the Sonic Cycle begins. How will it end this time?...

“It's good! Sonic's good again! See mum! I was right to paint my chest blue and wriggle around on the Chesterfield!" <Weeks pass> "Well, I guess it wasn't perfect. Room for some improvement. Quite a lot of improvement, actually. Still better than Sonic 2006-- Actually, you know what? Let's just stop talking about it. Holy Moly! They announced another Sonic game! Mum, buy more blue paint! This'll be the one!”

Re: Reminder: Five NES And SNES Games Hit Switch Today, Plus A Special Version Of Super Mario Kart

FX102A

Been a while since I played some SNES titles on the service; should give some I’ve never played a bash.

Looking through the lists, I wonder if there are much more games fully owned by Nintendo to add on the list? Only 2 SNES big-hitters I can think of are Earthbound & possibly Mario RPG (depends of SE holds any part of the rights).

Most other big name titles are held by 3rd parties and without the details, we can’t say why they haven’t been added or whether they even wanted to.

Re: Talking Point: amiibo Have Always Been Physical DLC, Skyward Sword HD Is No Different

FX102A

I’ve always believed that outside of features like additional items or making the game easier, anything an amiibo unlocks should either be unlockable in game either via challenges (like in Star Fox Zero) or purchase able. Sometimes I’ve actually been willing to buy some of the content unlocked by amiibos if they were purchasable as DLC at reasonable costs. Best example for me were the skins in Ace Combat Assault Horizon Legacy+. Thankfully had a friend with all amiibos at the time unpackaged so took my 3DS over.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (May 15th)

I recently remembered that despite being a big fan of the series, I hadn’t played a Tales game in so long. So recently fired up Tales of Berseria. First impressions make me think the series has been pretty stagnant which is probably why the latest has taken so long to arrive and seemingly has changed quite a bit.

Outside of that hoping to finally finish Castlevania: Symphony of the Night after multiple attempts although I fear the PS4 version’s music is quieter; plus PS4’s subpar d-pad doesn’t help. Maybe should restart on the PS Vita.

Re: Razion EX Launches On Nintendo Switch This Month, Here's Your First Look

FX102A

Regarding NG-Dev and shipping to the UK, I believe it’s that the order must be worth at least £135; so whilst a single copy won’t be shipped, if you order multiple copies (if they let you) you can as long as you’re willing to pay.

Whilst understandable as they are supposedly a very small outfit (2 people), the wording used does come off as mildly petty even if unintentional. Plus I’ve ordered stuff from the continent from other small companies and they’ve just added the extra charges during check-out. A minor annoyance but one I’ve accepted.

Waiting on my Backer Edition copy of R-Type.

Tempted by Thunder Cross II; on that note is there any different between the ACA and Konami Arcade Classic Collection versions of Thunder Cross?

Re: More Retro Games Are On The Way To Capcom Arcade Stadium

FX102A

Interested to see what they add; however the performance issues theoretically caused by the decision to use the RE Engine continue to hold me back from picking this up until a potential future sale. It’s a shame that there has been some fine retro re-release work on the Switch so far yet here the desire for those 3D arcade cabinets whilst playing has been detrimental to the games themselves.

Re: Poll: Monster Hunter Rise Is Out Today On Switch, Are You Getting It?

FX102A

Nope. Have Monster Hunter Tri a shot in both its Wii & Wii U forms but came to the conclusion it just wasn’t for me. Still, I acknowledge its popularity and I wish the game success and its fans many hours of enjoyment.

As long as Capcom doesn’t forget about some of its classic franchises; playing back through some of their 16-but and arcade titles reminded me why I loved Capcom so much. Especially their music teams.

Re: Best Game Boy Advance RPGs

FX102A

Got the majority of the English ones except FFVI, Lufia and the PKMN games. Looking forward to my Analogue Pocket’s arrival so I can give them a bash.

Although will stick to playing Lunar on the Vita.

Re: Soapbox: There Might Be A Bright Side To Mario's March 31st Doomsday, After All

FX102A

Some of these I can understand and as for the physical products, they’ll have manufactured a set number and it’s not like any unsold copies will disappear from store shelves. They said they won’t ship any more to stores but if they do have some in warehouses, I doubt they’ll throw them in the shredder.

The only thing that I can’t understand is the removal of 3D All-Stars from the eShop. It makes little sense UNLESS they have a plan to offer them in another way from then on.

I only experienced Mario 35 for the first time like 2 weeks ago and it’s a fun experience but I doubt I’ll be crying when it disappears. Heck I consider the original SMB to be vastly overrated. I prefer the rejigged All Stars version with less floaty gameplay.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (March 6th)

FX102A

Approaching 20 hrs into Radiant Historia: Perfect Chronology on 3DS. Totally engrossed in the story and characters. The multiple timeline mechanic is also well handled although can be a bit finicky. It almost adds a puzzle element to it all.

Otherwise I may either play some Mario All-Stars or see if any of my shm’ups on Switch need a whirl. Plus continue to hold off buying Capcom Arcade Stadium unless they fix the lag issues.

Re: Store Your SNES Games In Style With These Rather Fetching Book-Like Cases

FX102A

With a little bit of less foam between, they probably could have fitted 6 carts per book. Yeah I think its too expensive for what it does and in the end it actually takes up more space. I have plenty of SNES carts without boxes but they fit nicely in a plastic sealed Really Useful Box.

May be interested in a GBA version that can fit like 20+ carts.

Re: Octopath Traveler Has Now Sold 2.5 Million Copies Worldwide

FX102A

Really enjoyed it, with the only slight exception being how the stories seemed to be wrapping up into a combined narrative but never did.

Although I heard there is some post-game content that does that? Either way, I felt such a thing should be part of the core experience not an optional extra.

Re: Review: Capcom Arcade Stadium - A Rich Tour Through The Coin-Op History Of A True Legend

FX102A

The imperfect emulation has stopped me from dropping coin on this just yet. I’m only really interested in the shm’ups in Packs 2 & 3 but at almost £24 it still feels a bit heavy. Furthermore, some have accused that it is the 3D arcade cabinets and backgrounds as using up resources and that even if “turned off” it only “blackens” then out so they are still running.

I am waiting to see if any patches are forthcoming to improve the emulation and maybe allow a more “spartan” setup to allow the games themselves to use all the resources.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (February 20th)

FX102A

I had been planning on Capcom Arcade Stadium but I’ve been reading about slowdown and flickering issues on some of the shm’ups I wanted to play and thus may wait a bit. It got to the point I was starting to wonder if concentrating on Switch shm’ups over PS4’s was a good idea. Then I remember about the PS4’s 3rd party pad restrictions.

Instead, I think I’ll head back to Radiant Historia on the 3DS with occasional return to Mario 3D World.

Re: Capcom Arcade Stadium Is Out Now On Nintendo Switch

FX102A

Rather conflicted. I was hyped to download at least packs 2 & 3 but now I’ve skimmed through and I’d be paying £25 for maybe 6 I definitely want and 2 I would like; the remainder I already have on Switch or not too bothered.

Plus there’s the temptation to get all 3 bundles so Part 1 is just £5.
