During Nintendo's Direct presentation earlier this year, it was announced Square Enix would be bringing a "fully remastered" version of Legend of Mana to the Nintendo Switch this June.
While there is currently no sign of a physical release here in the west, according to online listings, the Asian region's hard copy of the game will include English language support. This covers both the Switch and PlayStation 4 versions of the game.
As previously revealed, Japan is also getting a little bit extra - a fancy collector's edition including a copy of the game, art book, plush and official soundtrack.
So, will you be getting a physical or digital copy of this upcoming release? Leave a comment down below.

Just LOVE that box art.
Bet that Scott’s gonna complain about it some time.
Play-Asia once again out to save the day!
@Zach777 I know right my switch collection of physical games is almost 200 games.....maybe I should review games too lol....but thanks to limited run games, play asia, super rare games etc....my switch physical is strong lol.
@tonyp1987 Would be amazing if Switch cards worked on the next gen system...
And man, that box art, and in-game art in general... I don’t even like JRPGs, but I’m really wanting to want this now! (Maybe I’ll try it. To be fair I‘ve never really given a turn based rpg a fair shake... this one seems relatively accessible, but man I just don’t care about all the stats and crap... ugh, maybe I’ll learn to like it.)
@Slowdive You mind me asking which store that would that be?
The absolute best Mana game. Can't wait.
@BlubberWhale try the ps1 version (cough emulator....then delete it) if you like it then buy it lol
Nice that the Asian version exist but c'mon Play-Asia, y'all really need to work on a better cover art. Too many white (unless it's Final Fantasy) on the cover bothers me. Why can't it just be like the Japanese cover art? Why not just use that one?
@Ghost_of_Hasashi : The "art" in the tweet above is just a placeholder. Note that the publisher (or any other information) isn't listed on the cover.
The Asian version Final Fantasy X-X2 artwork was crap, but that's the exception, not the rule.
@Silly_G I hope so, I could not stand bland cover art. Also the Final Fantasy X/X-2 cover art was nice though, it's the Final Fantasy IX cover art that I dislike cause the logo and artwork were facing the wrong direction. Instead of making it a standard art cover like all other Switch game they made it like it's a Super NES/SFC game not knowing that Final Fantasy IX never came out on the Super NES/SFC. I could understand, the Romancing SaGa III cover art was like that too, that's cause Romancing SaGa III was a SNES/SFC game and that cover art was a homage to that original game but FFIX was never a SNES/SFC game and making a cover art in the SNES/SFC style just make it look lame.
Well that's very convenient, thanks for the heads up.
Pre-ordered my copy from Bazaar Bazaar.
@BlubberWhale My memory is foggy, but one thing I can tell you is that this is no standard JRPG, for better or worse.
The best way to describe this game is that it has a storybook feel to it. You basically get "items" that transform a node on the map into a place you can visit. You slowly rebuild the world, is basically what is happening. A bit like The Neverending Story.
I wouldn't call it world building. I think placing certain locations on certain spots grants you something. I never really understood that mechanic back then, and I got terribly stuck somewhere early on in the game, so I never got very far.
I am definitely getting this game myself. It's not a great game, definitely not a top 10 game, but it has a very odd charm to it nonetheless and the artwork and general atmosphere of this game is absolutely amazing. I regret never having been able to get very far the first time around and sold my copy a long time ago, so...
@Beatrice There are a couple of things I want from Play Asia but i’m worried about import fees to. I’m in the UK. Do you remember how much yours were %-wise?
@FX102A recently discovered that awesome site. Will be getting Legend of Mana from either there or 365 games if they stock it.
@rushiosan Trials of Mana remake is the best IMO. But I do love the music from Legends. The Wind Sings Of A Journey is a particular favourite.
Way too expensive to import with shipping and custom fees. :/
Gotta double check but I'm pretty sure this is the only Mana I haven't finished. Looking foward to changing this
@tonyp1987 I believe I have you beat, lol. I'm at 600 physical switch games. I'd share a picture of it on here, but I don't see an option to do that?
@KnightRider666 htf you have 600 games??? I didn't even know it was that many physical games lol.....you must either like alot of games or just collect to collect for the switch lol.
@tonyp1987 I'm a huge collector. I buy my switch games physical over digital as often as possible. Even having said that, my 1TB memory card is full. I also buy from all the limited game companies out there. 600 games isn't even close to all the games released.
Considering the original game is translated I would definitely hope so.
@Beatrice I have to even be careful when I order stuff outside of Canada from the states, I bought a prebuilt MiSTer FPGA unit that came up to about $500 Canadian and then I had to pay $83 for import fees and we're literally the country touching them it's pretty insane and getting out of hand.
Wished Amazon Japan had this but will go and find out if it does.
@Zach777 Super tempted to get the limited edition though
@Bass_X0 I like Trials as well, but the story isn't that good (or deep) in comparison. Legend of Mana had such a unique atmosphere, lots of memorable NPCs, locations, bosses...
@BlubberWhale - If Chrono Trigger doesn't hold your attention, then I honestly don't think any JRPG will.
Earthbound and Mana are the only other ones I could handle for any length of time. The early Final Fantasy storylines are boring af and the later FF sequels are just self-indulgent look-how-epic-I-am tosser material.
@tonyp1987 Not. A bad. Ideeeaaa... 🤔 Thanks
EDIT:
@Prizm Are you me? Ha, I just agree with pretty all of that. Don’t know much about it, and honestly just haven’t been thinking about these types of games, but yes, I guess I have been meaning to play Earthbound on my SNES classic, and I’m sure Chrono Trigger is great too though I don’t really have plans to play it. Perhaps Mana though, especially the more action oriented games, but maybe this remaster as well.
EDIT 2:
@Daniel36 Whoops, missed your comment. Thank you, that does help me imagine how the game works a little bit better. And an odd charm is exactly why I may give it a shot. Just something so completely different than my usual platformers, action, and arcade games... could be a nice breath of vaguely nostalgic fresh air... while being a totally new experience.
@BlubberWhale I wouldn't mind reviewing but i don't know if nintendolife is hiring lol.
