Its strange, I remember Ubisoft’s earlier days during the 6th Gen where they published all sorts of games like they were finding their feet (they published 2 of the Tales games on PSP in Europe). Then they found footing in the 7th Gen and went “ALL IN!” during which the “Ubisoft Game” was formed in both its 1st & 3rd person variants.
I know people fondly remember Rayman Origins and Legends but for some reason it never clicked with me. Sold all my copies.
Now, they are kind of the AAA publisher I know exists. Don’t bother with them, don’t care about them, but I know they exist and people like their games.
After finally finishing Ghost of Tsushima on PS4 (quality production values but a bit sluggish and longer than it needed to be) I’ve shifted back to a console that doesn’t tie me down to one spot.
Back to my 3DS and Radiant Historia. Although starting to wonder if my upper body strength has fallen as finding my N3DS XL heavy!? May test my N3DS.
When I moved cross country I packed my entire game collection into sealable plastic boxes and refused to even allow them to go into climate controlled self-storage; instead created a wall in the spare bedroom (had to keep curtains permanently drawn as they were next to the window).
To this day I check the spare bedroom to check all is well in the vastly reduced wall.
Not surprising, many publishers will keep the price high in the hopes of grabbing as much cash from early adopters willing to pay, then once early sales dry up they drop the price. It takes longer than just launching at the low price but in the end can net more profit.
Although the lack of advertising is a surprise as you need to remind people of it; although thats what NLife is doing!
That and they may even know how many people have the game on their wishlist.
Afraid I’ve been overlooking my Nintendo consoles as still fully engrossed in Ghost of Tsushima; although after 60+ hrs feels like its dragging on. Although this may be because I’m ending up doing all the side quests. Approaching the end of Act 2 (I believe its a 3 act game).
Once that is over I feel like returning to either Radiant Historia (3DS) or Hyrule Warriors (Switch).
I recall an article out there that detailed how Microsoft’s Xbox division had no understanding of the Japanese Game Industry and even p***ed off a few notable developers when showcasing the OG Xbox before its launch.
After that they really pushed it during the 7th Gen and even had a bit of short-term success; but in the end Sony clawed back and all but shoved MS out of what little market share it had left.
Surprised to see no Collectors Edition announced. As stickers, postcards and posters would just end up in a storage box, will likely just buy from whichever site offers the standard edition for the least.
So I guess I may keep my 3 copies sealed for now and wait and see if this one also has English subs.
So far have just played Genesis on the PS4 but was annoyed that in my second mission (OYW campaign) had to call in an unidentified mech and ship that was never in the series (or franchise for that matter).
It is a shame cos Gundam has the setting, designs and charas to make a truly epic, high wuality game if the funding for a skilled developer was provided. I myself would like a tactical 3rd person style game (predominantly singleplayer) where you control a MS Team in large detailed battlefields or a high speed combat game like Zone of the Enders. PS2 era seemingly was the best IMHO.
Kind of amusing how the comments section kicked off about the dream of a DDR-comeback tour. A highly unlikely venture though.
Going back to the Top 10, seems like the regular, expected entries this time of year although I guess word of Cyberpunk has spread; although I’d need to see a worldwide chart of sales to see if the majority of potential sales were in the first 2 weeks; and how many refunds were enacted.
Despite the lack of the 16 Bit titles that are my primary interest, I do want to order but holding back cos the last few times I dived into importing Shm'up collections (Psikyo collection, Darius collection), Western releases ended up being around the corner. So wondering whether to hold off this time.
As already stated, Nintendo are totally within their right to do this, although it is then hopeful that they’ll offer some legal access to these tracks in some form in the near future.
Carrier Air Wing’s inclusion surprised me as I expected them to need to pay licenses to Northrop Grumman and Boeing for the 3 jets. Maybe cos they’re older planes out of production or the old graphics mean they’re not realistic enough recreations to bother with?
I wonder what the chances of Area 88 / UN Squadron being added? (Arcade AND SNES port); although that has an additional IP license to deal with.
After so many JRPGs and retro arcade games, decided I wanted something simple, shallow yet gratifying so currently on a FPS binge playing through all the titles I’ve skipped so far.
Fired up the old PS3 for Battlefield 3’s campaign (forgot I bought it for £3 digitally 2 years ago), then went down to CEX for some “rentals” with CoD Advanced Warfare up now on PS4 and Battlefield 4 to follow.
After that, will either give Titanfall 2 another shot (another cheapo digital purchase) or back to CEX to check out Black Ops 2 & 3 (the dead zones on BlOps 2 on Wii U are too much).
Once that is done, likely to return to the JRPG backlog.
I hope there’s an option to allow a few hits before loosing the armour. The one hit always made me raise an eyebrow, like is his armour made of glass or something?
Having enjoyed the first game on Switch I have faith that this will also run well enough to enjoy playing portably. However, I just can’t bring myself to spend £50 for a download only game.
Also can’t you change the Glory Kill button from R3?
I probably will buy it in the future but only when on sale. Had it been released physically I may have paid full price after Christmas but now probably £20 max. Unless it ends up on sale for £10 on PS4 or something.
Been playing Alliance Alive HD, but the battles have started to grate on me as I still can’t get my head around the battle system and the conditions you get new moves not how effective attacks are.
Feel like playing a bit of a more actioney game. Want to dial the brain cells down and try yet again to finish CoD BLOPS 2 on the Wii U but those stupid optional missions with limited attempts are just an inconceivable result of a drunken stupor or daughter seduction! I would like to play Hyrule Warriors on the Switch but that’s a Christmas present to myself.
Any advice for simple, fun action or platform games with no exploration, collecting, RPG mechanics and absolutely no rogue-like/lite mechanics?
Decided to dive back in Alliance Alive HD, last game I was playing on my commute before home working started for me. Rather enjoying it. You can see the 3DS heritage in its graphical models and lack of voice acting but enjoying it. Gives a bit of a Bravely Default vibe, although still getting my head around the nuances of the battle system.
Not as bad as you made it sound, then again for some reason I imagined a Scouse (Liverpudlian) accent for some reason. Then again not been following the whole Scottish Fan-canon thing despite the hat.
Bought it at launch and whilst I love it to this day, I do consider my launch purchase to have been hype driven and honestly, I feel it remains a flawed system with a flawed premise and no amount of extra advertising and support would have saved it. In its drive to offer a unique product, Nintendo went after the rising popularity of tablets and the dual screen success of its DS and 3DS.
I would still like to see what most long time fans would consider heresy. Dropping the turn based battle systems into a real-time system. Not direct control, but battles that play out dynamically in real time where your PKMN’s moves based on AI. You control when moves are carried out (again limited to 4) but you also have access to up to 4 Strategies that will affect how your PKMN moves, attacks and even their stats. Speed strategy increases speed and evasion but reduces accuracy and defence. Keep Distance will prevent physical attacks but reduce your accuracy and give time for opponents to react. One thing is for sure it would be exciting to watch and may even replicate the battles actually shown in the anime to some degree.
Happens every time something of Nintendo’s is classified as “Limited”. At first was surprised at stock remaining but having played mine for a bit, starting to see why.
Had mine since Friday. Whilst it is a nice bit of kit, my biggest gripes with it are the inability to stay on when in clock mode, and the fact that it is only loaded with 2 games, which I will openly say in public, I feel haven’t aged as well as people may wish to believe. The slipperiness of the controls, non-running jump limitations and it’s early graphics and limited colour palette, whilst impressive for their time, are really hard to pass freely in today’s world. The same can be said for many retro games, but I still feel games like SMB3 still look and play better than a majority of 2D platformers that followed.
I did want Rolling Gunner but their method of not guaranteeing a release and their lack of past success meant I didn’t want to take the risk. I learnt about the Fiver preorder later but never placed it.
I imagine I’ll eventually get a PS5, but it could be years (was over 5 years to get my PS4). It’ll only happen when a game is released that I positively have to play comes out. Usually it would be a Japanese title but so many have been coming out on the Switch and with rumours that Sony may be further distancing itself from the Japanese market due to the PS4’s somewhat underwhelming performance, I can’t help but wonder when that time will come.
At least by then maybe they’ll release a smaller console without the disco collar.
I only recently got into the Trails series with Trails of the Sky on PSP / Vita. Want to get the full background before diving into the Cold Steel saga. The added portability of Switch versions would be amazing for me!
I’m sure they haven’t listed all the synonyms describing some “ballistics”.
Looking at that list reminded me of how I was warned of a bit of a “scratch” last time I had blood drawn as they can’t use the more accurate verb anymore. Just made me remember that Young Ones episode.
Barely played the demo, as demos of big story driven games never really entice me as I feel I am being dumped in without context. Still I loved the 3DS games so will buy this.

Definitely getting Packs 2 & 3, loved the arcade games of the 90s and early 2000s.
Pack 1 depends on price, games of that era felt like they were testing the waters and getting their strides whilst the 90s where they really took off.
Most hyped by the shm’ups. So much quality stuff there! Hope they continue adding.
