Re: Interview: Nintendo and Nd Cube on Bowser, amiibo and the Pure Luck of the Dice in Mario Party 10

@DBPirate I understand the car mechanic too. There's a lot of Mario Party things that have come and gone that I liked and didn't like. Mario Party 8 looked like there were good ideas but the execution (4:3, 30 FPS, no improvement over GCN) fell. Mario Party 5 introduced the capsules which I didn't like much. Mario Party 6 & 7 had the mic minigames which weren't that fun. 7 had 8-player minigames but that was a hassle to pull off sharing controllers. Oh well, I'm sure if I get 10 I'll find some enjoyment out of it with amiibos and the Gamepad being the gimmick this time. If not, here's to Mario Party 11 on the NX.

Re: Mobile Developers Extremely Positive About Nintendo's Move Into The Smart Device Space

I've always though that Nintendo would use the apps to supplement their offerings on the handheld and console. I mean I would love to have certain games linked across each other. A Pokemon app that uses the camera to essentially be like Pokemon Snap. It could tap into weather and location info to have certain Pokemon come out and encourage travel to places and businesses.

Solo Sonic games can be sustained. Just don't make him a werehog, tether him to other characters, give him a sword, keep him on rails, try to make a Mario Galaxy clone...etc. All one has to do is make Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles playable, cut all the other characters, stick to the formula from the Genesis games, Adventure games, Advance games, Rush games, and Colors/Generations. There's good stuff there.

Sonic hasn't always been about going fast. You go fast eventually once you master his technique. The Genesis games were not non-stop speed.

Controlling Sonic in Smash, you can tell Sakurai and his team understand how to use Sonic. Give him the franchise and 3 years to develop a new game and you'll see the resurrection of the franchise.

Re: Review: Mario Party 10 (Wii U)

The amiibo party looked to be the closest to the orginal classic formula. I know some tired of the original formula used in 1-8 but some loved it. I wouldn't mind a Mario Party eshop title that allows you to just get the boards and modes you want ala Zen Pinball.

Re: Video: Mario Party 10's Bowser Party & amiibo Party Modes

FJOJR

Amiibo mode is as close to the classic Mario Party style as we'll get. I would hope Nintendo updates the Wii U to have an amiibo backup system that can be accessed from the home menu so when we do have to do it we don't have to exit the middle of a game to pull it off.

It's always an indication of somebody's age when you ask them which Mario Party is there favorite. Mine was 2, though I think 4 was the most well-rounded version. The original has a special place in my heart. 3 was just a bit of overkill. 7 wasn't too bad. 8 was awful. 10 looks to be the most exciting one in a long while though. I never really played 5, 6, 9, Advance, DS, or -e.
