Re: Soapbox: Nintendo Soundtracks - Where Are They?

FJOJR

If it wasn't for people graciously ripping soundtracks from game discs I wouldn't have much of anything on my iphone to listen to. Every game should have their soundtrack either be a promotional item or available for sale as a download at the very least. Once again Iwata has said they need to try harder in licensing and using the strength of their brand so hopefully they start realizing the amazing audio back catalog they can exploit.

Re: Video: These Are The Ten DS Games We Want To See On The Wii U Virtual Console

FJOJR

Even though I don't see myself buying a DS game on Wii U (let alone one I already own), I do have a list of DS games that have been on my wanted radar to play on 3DS.
DK Jungle Climber
Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon
Pokemon Conquest
Sonic Chronicles
Star Fox Command
Kirby Squeak Squad
Super Princess Peach
Trauma Center 2
Yoshi's Island DS
Batman: Brave and Bold

Re: Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze Only Sells Just Over 35,000 Units in Japanese Launch

FJOJR

I don't feel any negative undertones. The facts are that DK placed 2nd but that's like saying the Denver Broncos got 2nd in the NFL when they were blown away by the team that got 1st. DKC is a fun series but it's not the mid 90's anymore so it will not capture everyone's attention like it used to. It will sell over time thanks to the strength of the brand. And once more Nintendo is playing catch up after squandering the entire 1st year of the Wii U with mostly minor Wii updates, remakes, a 3rd tier franchise entry and a Mario entry that served it's purpose but did not dazzle like the Mario Galaxy games did.

Re: Talking Point: Sonic and the Wii U Both Seek a Boom in Sales

FJOJR

Sonic Team's mistake is that the formula they had built with Colors and Generations was getting Sonic back to respectability and greatness but like every game they've made since after Sonic Adventure 2, they fix what ain't broken and latch onto a gimmick that has no place in Sonic.

Re: Iwata Looking To Emulate iOS And Android With A Common Platform For Future Nintendo Hardware

FJOJR

I think what Nintendo is trying to do is create an operating system that makes it easy for both the handheld and console transitions in the future so they aren't developing a new architecture from the ground up every generation but instead are just building on a solid foundation when new hardware is available. I still believe they'll be 1-handheld, 1-console a generation only that we won't have them and developers on a long lull while they figure out the new hardware. Like Iwata said about the Wii to GameCube transition.

Re: Nintendo Planning to Offer "Flexible Price Points" for Games

FJOJR

I like Nintendo's approach the past 2 days. They rode the success of the DS and Wii but stumbled with the 3DS launch and now the Wii U launch debacle has awoken them. Something big is coming from them whether it be the strategy regarding the Wii U and it's Gamepad or maybe an influx of announced games that harken back to the pre-Wii era as far as variety. Can't wait now.

Re: Satoru Iwata Admits The "Wii U Isn't In Good Shape" Ahead of Investor Briefing

FJOJR

@gatorboi352 The Gamepad isn't a breakthrough like other people think I agree. Off-TV play is a nice but a feature nobody asked for, the touchscreen and dual screen is a DS innovation, and the asymmetric game play is vastly under utilized. Plus every 1st party game released (plus every future one) would have worked fine with just the Wii Remote and Nunchuk save for Nintendo Land, Game & Wario and Wii Party U (all minigame fests). The only saving grace that has kept me playing is the backwards compatibility, Miiverse and the better online infrastructure.

Re: Talking Point: Is There A Future For The Wii U Without The GamePad?

FJOJR

@R-Moss I think the Wii U has yet to see a killer app. Especially one that showcases why the Gamepad is worth the price of admission. NSMBU only had tough screen blocks, SM3DW only had token stages that truly used it. Nintendo Land wasn't enough to show it off. And now every major release coming up doesn't use it in a significant way. Maps and inventory are all that has happened and frankly it's not an exciting selling point. It's something the DS has already done. The Gyro controls in the Gamepad already done by the Wii. The infrared port done by the Game Boy Color. I feel like the Gamepad was made as a hodgepodge of past Nintendo innovations but it lacks a soul.
