Re: Review: Mario Bros. (3DS eShop / NES)

If you've played the versions form the Mario Advance games (Yoshi's Island for the Ambassadors out there) then you already have the best version of this game albeit without the multiplayer function on 3DS.

Re: Preview: Japanese Gamers Get Their Free Super Mario Bros. Deluxe Download

This game is the best version of Super Mario Bros. save for the reduced view due to screen size. The Lost Levels are also included in it so this is actually 2 games in one. However the multiplayer mode is gone due to Nintendo's inability to tailor older releases for the 21st century. Lack of Printer function is understandable though Miiverse may prove a way to revive the feature in a way.

Re: Talking Point: Is There A Future For The Wii U Without The GamePad?

@bugaham I'll agree with you on the strive for innovation that Nintendo keeps alive in the industry. But I wish they could have stuck with the Wii Remote/Nunchuk exclusively for another generation so they could master it. Zelda: Skyward Sword was the beginning of that and I would have loved to see them build upon it. Much like how the games of the SNES were games built upon the work done on the NES and how Super Mario Bros. 3 was the point where Nintendo began to master 2D game play.

Re: Talking Point: Is There A Future For The Wii U Without The GamePad?

I voted to cut it off mainly because the use of it on the system so far have not been as eye-opening to me as the touch/dual screen was for the 3DS or the motion/pointer controls were on the Wii. Just the fact it may be more than 2 years into the lifespan and Nintendo still won't have delivered a big game that uses it in a defining way makes me think even they are struggling with using it and selling it. Off-TV, TVii aren't that big a deal to me. Wii U's best features for me are backwards compatibility, the eShop and Miiverse.

Re: Mario And Zelda On Mobile Could Bring New Players To Nintendo Consoles, Suggest Industry Analysts

Personally I don't see why Nintendo doesn't try and do what companies like Hasbro do and make television shows that are driven towards a young audience but ring with adults as well (i.e. MLP:FIM). Can you imagine a "New Super Mario Bros: New Super Show" with the live action segments intact? Definitely have a lot more story material to work with compared to the late 80's & 90's plus Charles Martinet leading the way. Then cash in on the popularity through games and even toys. Also a Wii U and 3DS channel that offers all the episodes of every Nintendo series made so far (kinda like what they do on the eshop with Pokemon). Mobile apps that do that could work too. I think that's a way to go without resorting to cheap mobile games.

Re: Talking Point: New Year Resolutions for Nintendo

FJOJR

My suggestion to them for 2014. Start tapping into more franchises. Not just 1st tier like Mario (including DK, Wario & Yoshi spinoffs), Zelda & Pokemon. Star Fox, F-Zero, Metroid & the like. Fire Emblem & Pikmin were great examples of using the stable correctly.

Re: Reaction: Nintendo Direct's Final Flourish of 2013

FJOJR

I'm guessing the cynicism behind DK is that some may feel it's like NSMBU and is just a Wii game that received an HD upgrade. Also yes no Metroid. On that note I'm sure Iwata's emphasis on Hyrule Warriors not being the next Zelda installment is to quell the worries that it'll be another Metroid: Other M flop.

Re: Dr. Luigi announced for Wii U eShop

@Doma It should have been Dr. Captain Falcon. You go into the body and Falcon Punch and Kick the viruses out of them whilst speeding through the veins in the Blue Falcon.

Re: Dr. Luigi announced for Wii U eShop

$15 is too much. I'd love if they had an upgrade discount for owners of Online Rx cause that's what this game basically is. An hd upgrade with a new game mode. Plus Virus buster doesn't look multiplayer to me.

Re: Talking Point: The GamePad and its Role Defining the Wii U

FJOJR

I look at Pikmin 3 as a form of the GamePad's innovation but also it's drawbacks. Using the map to send other members to other areas while working on an area yourself is great. But controlling the playable character with the Gamepad is not as good as the Wii Remote and nunchuk combo with the pointer controls. Yet the "Wii Sports" game for the Wii U hasn't arrived yet. Maybe it never will. Wii Remote and Nunchuk was a better control scheme for Zelda & Metroid. I don't see much the Gamepad can do past touch controls or inventory/maps & the token asymmetric section.
