Nintendo may have question marks around current third-party support on its systems, but few can doubt that it has some strong relationships with other companies in Japan - Koei Tecmo, Bandai Namco, Sega and Capcom are all examples. The latter two both appear to have some involvement in the arcade for Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon / Luigi's Mansion 2, if an official announcement is anything to go by.
We've known of the existence of this arcade for a while, as reports emerged of it being play tested last year. Players use a Poltergust-shaped controller and play in first-person to suck up ghosts - Luigi and Professor E Gadd appear, as will locations from the games. This has been developed by Capcom, yet now Sega has announced the arcade will be shown off in its booth at the Japan Amusement Expo. Quite where Sega comes into the project's development is unclear, yet in recent times Nintendo's proven itself adept at working with multiple partners on interesting projects and spin-offs.
Due to the arcade scene's weaknesses in the West we doubt this'll make it outside of Japan, but there's always hope. We also like to think that the work on improved visuals for this arcade could lay the groundwork for a Wii U entry in the series, but that's merely wishful thinking at this time.
Let us know whether you'd like to play a Luigi's Mansion arcade, or whether you fancy a third game to make its way to the Wii U.
Thanks to Jahir for the tip.

This is...weird. Kinda hope it does well so we get a home port of some sort.
Don't really care about the arcade thing. This will probably never hit the west. But, I really hope Next Level is working on a Luigi's Mansion game for the Wii U. I think that would be amazing.
Doesn't really make sense why Sega would have it...
If possible, I'd like to see Nintendo port many arcade titles to the Wii U: F Zero AX, Mario Kart GP 1+2, Pokken Tournament, Donkey Kong Jungle Fever,...
Seems pretty cool, though at the same time it just kind of looks like an arcade on-rails first person shooter, which I don't enjoy that much. Still, I'd give it a shot if I ever spotted one.
Would love a luigis mansion game on wii u.
Mario Kart GP DX made it to the west
Sega announces Capcom's Nintendo's Luigi's Mansion arcade.
Come on Nintendo, is that all you could get? Where's Platinum, Koei Tecmo, Bandai Namco, Konami etc.?
Luigi's Mansion U would be awesome!
Give me a new HotD Overkill instead please
I don't think this or any other arcade games will be ported over to the Wii U especially anything racing oriented as that would likely be seen as competition for Mario Kart 8. Also I question how difficult it would be to determine who'd own the rights of ownership since Nintendo aren't developing these titles and it seems nor are they publishing them.
What, Namco didn't get involved?
I'm guessing Nintendo made the IP, Capcom made the game, and SEGA/SAMMY made the cabinet. Not that strange really.
I had to read the title twice. It still makes little sense, but I get it now
I'd much rather play a Wii U game, Luigi's Ghost Town or whatever. Or Project Zero U.
That's a great title Thomas I hope we can see the arcade around here, it'd be cool. Or at least as an eShop-only title? I guess I can dream
DAT HEADLINE
lol
Why does Japan have so much better taste in games than over here does (just a personal opinion so don't hate me). Oh well. No good places for arcades in WV anyway at the moment.
A headline that has the words Nintendo, SEGA, and Capcom in it. AWESOME.
Oh and I would love to play this. If it ever did come to the rest, there would be a crazy line and I'd only to get to play a game or two (After an hour+ drive to get to it) lol
That byline. LOLOLOL
Wii U port of both Mansion games would be nice. Still not sure how a Gamecube game got a sequel on 3DS w/ the Wii U out anyway.
Next Sega can we have Wii vc Master system games on 3ds and Wii u vc and also more game gear and Sega GBA 3d classics for 3ds virtual console
What genre is it?
I'd be in support of a light gun shooter
Sega and Nintendo have collaborated together in arcade gaming before along with Namco they developed the Triforce Arcade Board, which was a GameCube based system with exclusive Mario Kart games, F-Zero AX, and others. Perhaps Capcom has replaced Bandai Namco in some kind of similar arrangement. Considering the fact that the F-Zero GX on GameCube was either co-developed or based off the arcade version, the Arcade version is hidden in the GX data, then it's certainly possible that a port or co-developed version is in the works.
Maybe it's a Capcom developed game using SEGA hardware?
Speaking about SEGA where the heck is their reveal for next gen sonic? Isnt it hedgehog day? Come on i want to know how it will be like. Hopefully its open world....
@Evenmoresteven Agreed, HD Luigi's Mansion would be great. Dark moon was a bit frustrating using a circle pad for control vs an analog stick.
Why yes, I DO fancy a third game to make its way to Wii U. In fact, it's probably only behind Earthbound/Mother in my "franchises that don't have a Wii U version yet should" list.
That said, I'm not interested in the slightest in this arcade project. The best thing about LM is the exploration, and I think that's hard to do on an arcade setting. That, and I haven't been to an actual arcade in like 5-6 years now.
@rferrari24
May not be the same thing as a Wii U port, but F-Zero AX is U lockable in F-Zero GX. I actually have it unlocked on my copy...
Sega? Who just stated they wanna focus on mobile & PC games?? If it's not hitting wii u I could care less! What a waste of piles n piles of classics!!!!
Never thought I'd see SEGA, Capcom, and Nintendo used in the same headline like this...
This is cool, but I'd like to have played F-Zero AX and Star Fox Assault Arcade. If I ever get a chance, I'd also love to play the Arcade Mario Party, even if it does seem it will be as underwhelming as the GP Mario Kart games. (Of which I have played two of them, and they are cluuuunky.)
Nintendo must SERIOUSLY want the 3DS to die.
@JasonH
Lol, yeah, I read about that. I don't own a Gamecube or F Zero GX game so I was just having wishful thinking. It sounds like unlocking F Zero AX from the disc is not too hard.
@LordOfGamez Sega's Platform makes perfect sense. (Cabinet looks a bit like the one for Let's Go Jungle! (Same logic could be used as to why Nintendo is promoting MH4U - it is on Nintendo's Platform).
Lol: Confirmed! First person Luigi's mansion on Wii u, made by Retro!
