Got some Switch friends from this game. I stopped playing awhile back for bar prep but I should get back into it at some point. Without spending a dime I find it so much fun.
As someone without a smart tv nor a casting device, I didn't realize how much the Wii U was used for streaming until I moved on to the Switch. The Wii U has retired to my folks home like my other old consoles and I'm left with hooking up my PC to watch things which isn't as convenient when I need to do something on it and want something playing in the background.
Eh not the best but not the worst vocal music in the Sonic series (Sonic Heroes). I'm not too concerned about Forces if the Classic Sonic and Modern sonic sections are anything like Generations. The demo levels at E3 weren't too flashy or unique so hopefully the real game will be well fleshed out. I just hope the OC character doesn't weigh the game down like so many other gimmicks have done in 3D Sonic games (fishing, werehog, 3 characters at once, all of 06).
He probably got banned for exploiting the glitches because Nintendo was likely planning a direct port to the Switch and will now have to go through the trouble of fixing their mistakes.
Good on this guy. Nintendo seems to be in the wrong here (even though they make their rules on their system). No piracy, hacking or copyright stuff.
As for Fire Emblem, I play that all the time. I haven't paid a dime for it but at some point I will buy something. I think if a game has me hooked that much and it being free without the annoying ads as other mobile games do then I will believe they will earn my $2 at some point.
I honestly would have bought Mario Run if it had been $5 or less. $10 for what I amount to an experience that is more fleeting than Mario's Game Boy titles was too steep for many.
Hopefully DS and 3DS VC can happen on the Switch in some way. Nintendo realizes the power of their old games and VC/BC has often been my most used feature on the Wii, DS, 3DS, and Wii U.
I had this happen to me with a 3rd party GameCube memory card back in the day. And my Sega Saturn as well when the battery died. That's why I do not buy many games onto the hard drive unless it's a game I'll play often like Smash. Of course all those Nindies games have no other choice.
I would have bought this on the VC had it not been for the fact it's the original DS version blown up on a TV screen without the resolution being optimized. Oh well, I have the Wii VC N64 version and the original DS cart.
If I can use my Wii REmotes stil then that would be great. Also gives me hope that there might be some backwards compatibillity with Wii U games at least.
It's pretty clear that Nintendo has seen what voice acting and trying to impose her character on players did to Samus' character in Metroid: Other M. Nintendo lost a lot of people on that decision. It's alright for some games like F-Zero GX's story mode. You kinda expect F-Zero to be cheesy and over the top. Captain Falcon is an extreme dude. But Link and the Zelda series is a bit sacred to Nintendo. Save for the CD-i games lol.
As much as I loved the Wii Remote and everything it stood for, I am concerned about the direction Nintendo wants to go with the NX if it is based on another control scheme that supposedly will define it. The Wii U Gamepad is by far my least favorite controller because of how useless I believe it has been. Splatoon is the one game I could truly use it on and even then it had a normal control scheme in local play that could play it.
I've always felt Nintendo's lesser franchises could have animated movies much like what DC Comics has done with the New 52. 1 hour adventures for a character and heck you could even do the full cross over thing with franchises where it makes sense like Space adventures Metroid, F-Zero, and Star Fox.
I was a big fan of the Wii Remote's concept since it was first revealed. The mistake of the Wii, despite its commercial success was the lack of power in the console and the Wii Remote's motion limitations. The Wii U (sans GamePad) paired with the Wii Motion Plus would have made Nintendo unstoppable.
But I believe Nintendo will go back to the Wii Remote spiritually in the future.
At this point the Smash franchise can run on DLC and balancing updates. Seriously what more can be done other than adding more characters and stages and then a graphical update to download each generation? Transfer your purchases over to the next game much like Pokemon Box is doing for the Pokemon generations.
Hoping to see a Wii HDMI mod. Couple that with Nintendont which allows for widescreen GCN games then you might have the most definitive home console Cube experience.
The only thing good to come out of the series was the portrayal of Dr. Eggman in the show. Eggman carries that show as Sonic is too full of himself for his own good, Tails is the same person he's been, Amy is an improvement, Sticks is crazy but not in a funny way,and Knuckles is a buffoon which saddens me. Shadow had a brief appearance as did Metal Sonic but the episodes didn't have the epic buildup or punch that should accompany the 2 closest characters that come to beating Sonic (outside of Mario).
@abbyhitter lol pretty tough to avoid that spoiler for 10 years seeing how she has a trophy in Smash, is playable in Hyrule Warriors, and the Internet exists.
A Mario & Sonic game that didn't have to do with Smash or the Olympics would be megaton. Headed by Miyamoto and releasing as a launch title for the NX. Dreams I know. Like NiGHTs. Wait we need NiGHTs!
@ekreig I remember when Cranky Kong in DKCTF was the BIG reveal by Nintendo and the host asked Reggie if they had anything else. Reggie was like "what more do you want?" Not exactly a way to get the "hardcore" to come back. But Cranky in Smash confirmed.
I'm waiting this one out in case there is free DLC. If not, then I'll be content with Mario Power Tennis. Have to say from the reviews it seems like it's the lightest amount of content in the series and only above the Virtual Boy entry.
Graphics-wise, I think the character models have been improved and the lighting has vastly improved but I'm still seeing a lot of early PS3 era style polygons and effects. But the Gamepad once again dictates the look. The Wii U lives and dies by the Gamepad and they've died more than they've lived. It's the same reason XBone dropped Kinect. Too many resources being used for an underutilized and shoehorned peripheral.
Just not enough to entice me. I wish they would have waited to remake this game from the ground up on the NX or just not bothered at all. I've been playing through TP on Wii U thru the vWii and it's good enough for me. The 3D models just never looked that great to begin with and now it's even more evident with the updated textures.
@ElkinFencer10 Yeah. I don't think Nintendo has ever released a game that's as bad as Sonic Boom. Yes Nintendo has delivered some stinkers, has delivered lazy efforts (putting 12 MB Mario All-Stars game on an 8 GB disc for SMB's 25th anniversary), and the Virtual Boy, but never has been to the level SEGA has settled for.
I'm all for new IP but there's a lot of old IP Nintendo has that could use a Kid Icarus-like resurrection, or Fire Emblem Awakening-like saving. F-Zero, Star Tropics, Earthbound, Eternal Darkness, Golden Sun, and even some NES or Super NES franchises who could have their stories fleshed out on a modern system.
I wasn't expecting Mario or Zelda. Maybe something like WarioWare or Dr. Mario or something from their lesser known franchises to get the ball rolling. It is what it is and Nintendo clearly is putting all their eggs in the 2016 basket.
Either create something new or resurrect another dead franchise. Nintendo has some properties dating back to the NES that really could broaden their appeal.
Wii VC and emulators are good enough for me. But good for those who want the original hardware as the advantage is having full capabilities of N64 and no glitches other than the ones originally in the game.
