Re: Hardware Review: Hori D-Pad Joy-Con Controller For Nintendo Switch

EvilRegal

Does anybody know if there have there been any rumors that Nintendo will eventually release a left Joy-Con with a traditional D-Pad? With the reputation that third party accessories have on the Switch (sometimes of bricking it), I'm hesitant to try anything but a Nintendo-made Joy-Con.

It's so odd that they took this approach for the Joy-Con after generations of using the standard D-Pad, yet the Pro Controller has one! :/

Re: Rumour: Change To Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Medley Points To New Fighter

EvilRegal

What a horrible night to have a leak. :3 Man, Smash would become even more STACKED with 8 & 16-bit platforming heroes! So many possibilities for retro Event Matches!!! Plus, give Square-Enix & Bandai-Namco a second rep, and think of the company tag team matches!!! Nintendo (Mario & Luigi/Link) vs. Capcom (Mega Man & Ryu) vs. Konami (Simon & Snake) alone is a dream come true!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (July 21st)

EvilRegal

I've been trying to play through Mega Man Legacy Collection 1 & 2 before X Legacy Collection arrives next week, but I'm only on MM6. Meanwhile, my BEAUTIFUL new waifu Primrose is practically begging for my attention, so I'm spending some serious time with Octopath after I'm finished with MM6 in a little while.

Then, I'm going Maverick hunting next Tuesday, and I'm not talking about Top Gun Maverick, or Dallas Mavericks.

Re: Nintendo's Long Lost Arcade Game Sky Skipper Flies Onto Switch This Week

EvilRegal

I'm really looking forward to this, especially being such an obscure piece of Nintendo's early gaming history! Switch is becoming a dream machine for nostalgia!!! I hope we also see Donkey Kong Jr., DK 3, Sheriff, and Popeye.

On the subject, does anybody know how hard it would be for Popeye to be released? The NES version hasn't been released on any Virtual Console yet, so I'm guessing there are some licensing issues that Nintendo doesn't feel like it would be economically beneficial to pursue.

Re: Review: Arcade Archives Renegade (Switch eShop)

EvilRegal

@Shiryu You did a Hell of a great job on that, man! Love the beat here, use of film dialogue, and (of course) the famous finger bottles!

And, simpler days indeed. I find myself yearning for them a little more often than I should... Probably less so than I might otherwise, due to modern day comforts like The Warriors on Blu-ray, and classic arcade beat-em-ups where/however I want them with Switch. :3

So, here's to simpler days, and to fighting your way back to Coney Island (or wherever home may be).

Re: Review: Arcade Archives Renegade (Switch eShop)

EvilRegal

Thank you for mention of The Warriors! I first played the NES version around the time I watched The Warriors for the first time, and it was like my non-official gaming extension of the movie! In the screenshot, we have Vermin single-handedly taking on the Lizzies (Kunio-Kun looks more like Ajax, tho, lol)!

Re: Nintendo's Share Price Falls Yet Again With A Lack Of Game Announcements Possibly To Blame

EvilRegal

Many idiot investors likely don't know thing one about games, beyond their special "One-Percenter" games they hold amongst themselves. For example, "who can horde the most of the world's money", and "who can screw over the most little people while hording that money."

I LOVE my Switch, and the offering of games (particularly enjoying the retro gamer's paradise it's been lately). If investors don't like that it hasn't sold 200 million so far, then they can take one of their $10,000 bills and stick it. In a few days, while they're miserable that they're not rich enough, I'll be lovin' life with Octopath Traveler!

Rant over. Stock market types are just such a cancer, on so many levels.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend?

EvilRegal

I'm also getting my retro Mega Man on with Legacy Collection 1 between Street Fighter II nostalgia trips! What a time to be a retro gamer this year, with Arcade Archives, SF 30th, Mega Man & Mega Man X Legacy, and SNK 40th Anniversary Collection!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend?

EvilRegal

There couldn't be anything I'd play this weekend except Street Fighter 30th. I've waited over 26 years for arcade-perfect Street Fighter II at home. It took a long time to get here, but it was worth the wait! I haven't played many of the other Street Fighters at arcades, but the variations of SF II feel completely untouched (except for the inexplicable logo change on Guile's stage, dammit)! Even demo fights in attract mode are the same as I remember!

It looks like I'm in the minority in being so happy with the arcade version purity, however. I've read so much displeasure that the different games don't have features from home versions, like the added characters in the PlayStation Street Fighter Alpha 3. I thought it was made clear in the beginning that these are the arcade versions. When Street Fighter II hit the SNES almost 26 years ago, gamers would've gone crazy for arcade-perfect ANYTHING on consoles! Now, in 2018, gamers are unhappy with arcade-perfect ports. When did I become old? :/ I guess I should change to old sage Tellah for my Final Fantasy IV avatar.

Also, FINALLY Street Fighter III (Capcom CAN count to three ), and SF Alpha: Warriors' Dreams on a Nintendo system!

Re: Super Mario Odyssey Receives Two New Costumes

EvilRegal

I'd love to see more retro suits! Gimme Frog & Hammer Bros. suit from SMB3 (Tanooki too, but the others need more visibility), and Super Cape from SMW. Other than obvious ones like that, how about Punch-Out!! referee suit... and a Birdo suit! ๐Ÿ˜† Kuribo's shoe would be fun, but may look weird lol!

Re: The Mega Man Legacy Collection 1 & 2 Are Headed To Switch On 22nd May

EvilRegal

Man, with this and Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection, this May is Maycom!

I'm not happy with the physical/download split, but I need my Megs Switch fix... Especially when we don't know when/if a proper VC is coming!

I want this and MM 11 to sell well too, so our Blue Bomber doesn't go into such a long slumber again.

Re: Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection Rumbles Onto Switch May 2018

EvilRegal

This collection will be the fulfillment of a longtime dream of mine. Since I played SF II: Champion Edition at a convenience store almost 26 years ago, I've wanted to own an arcade machine of it... Or an arcade-perfect version on a console. I thought SF Collection 2 on PlayStation would satisfy that need, but there were some differences from the arcade SF II versions. Now, this coming May, one of my gaming bucket list entries will be crossed off! So will a second entry, owning SF III: New Generation & Second Impact (the latter I've never played)!

With this and Mega Man's rebirth, Capcom is CAPCOM again in my book. Nintendo OWNED 2017. Capcom looks primed to own 2018!

May, why are you so damn far away? ๐Ÿ˜’

Re: NPD Says SNES Mini Was the Highest Selling Console in September

EvilRegal

I got to thinking: Is this late 2017, or late 1992? I'm playing Super Mario Kart on a recently-bought Super NES.... Super NES which is on top of the gaming world! Let's see, I have Crystal Pepsi in my fridge... The Pittsburgh Penguins are two-time defending Stanley Cup champions, in a new NHL season with an expansion team... My Denver Broncos just got shut out by a Los Angeles NFL team (D'oh!!! ๐Ÿ˜ฃ)... Did my beloved TMNT IV: Turtles in Time GamePakโ„ข generate a time warp to 1992? ๐Ÿ˜ฎ And if this is 2017, I should have my hoverboard and self-lacing shoes by now! ๐Ÿ˜‰

@SakuraHaruka There is more than enough Super NES SUPER POWER for more than just lil ole me to use the slogan! ๐Ÿ˜„

Re: NPD Says SNES Mini Was the Highest Selling Console in September

EvilRegal

What a great story! Incredible to read about my all-time fav console being number 1 again after 2 decades.

Kind of like "Big" George Foreman overcoming insurmountable odds, and a much younger opponent in Michael Moorer, to become heavyweight champion again; 20 years after losing the title to Muhammed Ali in the "Rumble in the Jungle!"

Now you're playing with SUPER POWER!!! ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿป

Re: Urban Champion Joins The Arcade Archives Roster On Switch

EvilRegal

Hey, Urban Champion for Sma5h!!! He could be to SSB what Dan Hibiki is to Street Fighter! ๐Ÿ˜† We just need some art of Jigglypuff pwning Urban Champion Sagat-style! ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿป

Untitled

I am all for vs. Wrecking Crew! ๐Ÿ”จGimme that, and Wrecking Crew '98, even if on Japanese VC one day!

Re: Mario Bros. to Kick Off 'Arcade Archives' Range on Nintendo Switch

EvilRegal

Those waiting & hoping for VC news, the Tokyo Game Show is coming up, from September 21-24. I don't know what kind of presence Ninty will have, but it's an opportunity to possibly hear news.

Plus, I think Nintendo Co. Ltd. has one of their quarterly financial reports in October. Big news/updates often come out of those.

Re: Mario Bros. to Kick Off 'Arcade Archives' Range on Nintendo Switch

EvilRegal

This is something I thought we would eventually see when VC was announced for the Wii, especially when arcade titles were added.

Sure, there was no VC announced, but it's coming in some form. With the love of its extensive retro library, there's no way Nintendo is going to miss out on money from old skool gamers, like myself. I'm THRILLED to finally be able to officially fill the oldest gaps in my retro library in advance of VC/whatever!

I hope we see the DK games. Arcade DK Jr. was the very first Nintendo game I played, circa 1984!, so it's a huge part of me as a gamer! These are huge pieces of gaming history that'll be wonderful to own! ๐Ÿ˜„
