Yay, Double Dragon/Kunio-kun, BARF!!! Going with that to download, but Mega Man Zero/ZX physical... Wallet presently giving me dirty looks. :/
@Giygas_95 I’m doing a Mega binge myself, before Zero/ZX Collection release! Played through OG Mega Man 1-11, and am up to X7 on the X series! It’ll be my first time to play a 3D Mega Man. Hoping it’s more like my first Metroid 3D experience (Prime), and less like Castlevania (Castlevania 64) lol. Just got Mega Man Xtreme 2 too:
Nah, Babu Frik, the tiny droidsmith from The Rise of Skywalker has them both beat in cutenesses. Who couldn’t love a whiskered little face like that? :3
It never became a franchise (I guess the original did poorly), but in my perfect world, the old 1990 NES game Code Name: Viper would get a sequel. Done right, I think it’d have the potential to be Capcom’s answer to Metal Gear Solid, but from the angle of fighting drug cartels.
I know it’ll never happen. Simply one of my gaming pipe dreams!
... Does this mean I can stop selling the Fortnite llama loot piñatas in the toy department of my store, that get torn open by kids and spill confetti everywhere? :3
After the recent NL article, I’m splitting time between Link’s Awakening, and rewatching the first two seasons of Twin Peaks. So far, I realized LA needs more coffee, donuts, and pie! Maybe BotW 2....
@commentlife Even here in 2019, I hold that thing in high esteem as part of my gaming collection, and fondly remember fierce button-slamming Track & Field sessions with my friends! 8 year-old me was in awe of this huge blue controller, and that it was specifically for that one game! Good times...
Well... only problem is it’s for the Atari 2600. :3 I’m curious if mine still works all these decades later, except I can’t test it, as my Atari 2600s haven’t survived the ages. :/
@SpoonyTech I think I had my fill of button mashing from the Atari 2600 version, Track & Field II NES (thank God for NES Advantage), and stuff over the years like Metal Gear Solid game torture scenes!
Yay Final Fantasy doggies (and doggies period :3)! Forget Meteor, Holy, Omnislash, etc. Angelo Cannon is one of the greatest, most badass abilities in all of gaming!!!!
On 9/3: “You’re the best looking eShop release here!” <3 They could’ve held off till the 9th, to make it 20 years to the day, though. 9/9/99 was a nice pre-Y2K gimmick!
@Aaronnnnn You won’t explode, just your wallet! :3
Link’s Awakening, Dragon Quest XI, and Contra Rogue Corps for me; though my wallet may kindly request that I divide the damage across a couple of months!
Also, Chunners & Cammy on one controller? That’s a lot of hotness in your hands! I may roll with that one day. Still, the nostalgia nerd in me longs for that classic SFII stick!
Digital games can kiss my physical rear! I grew up with tangible masterpieces, like that treasure-like The Legend of Zelda copy that my grandparents paid over $100 for, at a now-closed Colorado Springs toy store in January 1988. The gorgeous gold GamePak & box were stunning enough alone to make it memorable, but that wasn’t all. The manual; with the elaborate artwork; and the invaluable map made it a truly legendary experience. I still have all of it to this day.
If things progress in the present trend, there won’t be such physical wonders that future generations can proudly hold onto in 30 years. I don’t think a download code would hold the same value to my possible future children... and it damn sure can’t
help you if you get lost!
Man, those late 70s/early 80s packages make the little boy in me happy, that lived to collect the old Kenner-made Original Trilogy action figures! Did anyone else here collect those? The nostalgia nerd in me needs these only for the packaging. Plus, I’ve never played these versions! I do wish this had been the SNES series, however. Maybe next time.
On a side note, damn the Prequel and Sequel Trilogies need to be made Super Star Wars-style!!! Fan creations on YouTube just aren’t enough.
@Loserkid41 Thankfully, I have plenty of backlog to keep me busy until August 27th! Plus, my wallet will appreciate any break it can get until I really put it through the wringer for the glut of September releases!
This may overtake The Windwaker and the DS sequels as the cutest-looking game in the entire series! Not sure if this version of the Hero of Legend can overcome the absolute adorableness of the Hero of Winds, though. :3
@Realnoize Yeah, for me, a streaming-only future is likely one where I become an exclusively retro gamer. Along with my own considerable backlog, there are a great many games I've never gotten over the years, since I'm not rich!
I feel dirty saying this, as I HATE HATE HATE the idea of an all-streaming future, but... I’d roll with this at least temporarily for a chance to play Famicom Final Fantasy II & III and Super Famicom FF V.
Now, ‘scuse me while I wash my fingers for typing this.
Also, Intellivision is returning in late 2020! Did I wander into a 1982 time warp? Man, I wish I'd brought a 2019 sports almanac with me. Got plenty of advice that my little self probably won't listen to, tho.
@Elithal Mine was probably an overly sweeping generalization, and I do apologize for that. I just know that so much work in the world of finance is so time-consuming, and doesn't allow time for R&R. Maybe if I did more work in that field, my wallet wouldn't hate me with the passion it does for love of gaming.
