@Lord It technically also got released twice before the Switch release. The original Generations, then XX (the expanded release) on the 3DS 2 years later and then that got ported to the Switch only a few months after the 3DS version of XX.
@Wavey84 You'd have to download them from the eShop on your import account. Once they're downloaded onto your Switch it shouldn't really matter which account you play the games on as it'll ask you which account you want to use after you select the game on your home screen.
@Ralizah Gigantamaxing is effectively Mega Evolution (appearance change and stat boost)+Z moves (but on a turn timer).
Dynamaxing has the stat boost+Z moves (so effectively Mega Evolution for every Pokemon, without an appearance change).
The big difference is that there's a turn timer on Maxing, which I guess was created so there wouldn't be permanent power boost (everything else in battle can be straight up removed by multiple sources).
ScareScraper: This is where you'll find multiplayer co-op ghost wrangling. Up to eight players can play either online or locally, with the objective being to save Toads and captures ghosts while racing against a timer. To prevent confusion, each player controls a different colored Luigi or Gooigi figure as you play together.
@rjejr Oh I see. No, i dont recall them splitting the lists like that before. Maybe they thought it'd be a bit easier to read since the lists have gotten bigger?
@rjejr I mean they split pretty much everything. 3DS / 2DS and Xbox One X / S also have separate entries.
For some people, it's probably important to be able to see how versions with different functionality sell.
The article makes a pretty good point when it mentions the Lite didn't sell as well as the regular model this week. Could indicate certain things, such as fear regarding joycon drift (and concerns regarding replacement on Lite consoles) or perhaps people don't think the price reduction is worth the features that have been cut from the console. Or it could be the usual hardware shortage Nintendo seems to have on launches. The separate numbers are useful to draw these kinds of conclusions.
@Ryu_Niiyama Yeah, I was hoping Keiichi Yano and his team were making something new. It looks like they haven't made anything in the last 11 years though...
"Astronomical summer
In the Northern Hemisphere spring ends and summer starts at the moment of the June solstice, which occurs every year between June 20 and June 22. Summer ends and autumn starts at the moment of the September equinox, which occurs every year on September 21 to 23."
@J-Plap Drawing 4 cards is a huge boon in any TCG type game.
The restriction isn't too bad either since the likelihood of someone having memorized every attack set on every Pokemon card is extremely unlikely (not to mention you only get the attack name and no other details).
For example, if I said Double Slap it would be very difficult to get the correct answer especially if I were running a colourless deck.
@Agramonte I don't think that's a good idea. Having two separate components like that would require more space in the console. The Switch itself is already fairly big. The main draw of the Tegra was that it was a combined CPU and graphics card with a small form factor.
If anything, they should partner with Intel, whom is doing a lot of R&D for combined CPU and graphics chips. Downside is that price could be prohibitive especially considering this is Intel we're talking about.
EDIT: Hm...it looks like the chips have both combined. I guess that could work though licensing could be an issue depending on how the antitrust case goes with Qualcomm. The appeals process could take a very long time.
@rjejr You mean the Pokemon Company or GameFreak. Nintendo has nothing to do with the app themselves nor any of the development related to Pokemon since Generation 2 (well except for maybe the occasional spin-off game). That class action would just fall through since it'd be at the wrong target XD
@Old_Man_Nintendo Historically, Nintendo's consoles have had a higher attach rate than their portables.
It'll be interesting to see what kind of impact this will have on the Switch's attach rates (since it's actually both). That being said, as of December of last year, 3 games had a greater than 50% attach rate on the Switch: BotW, Super Mario Odyssey and Mario Kart 8.
Apparently the delay was to avoid extreme crunch time for the developers. Though doubtless the shareholders don't care about that kind of thing anyways.
@manu0 I doubt it'll be as skewed as you think. The number of executives will be nowhere near the amount of other employees in the company with a size of over 2,000. Factoring in the halved wages as well you're looking at maybe $500,000 max for a handful of people in a company of over 2,000.
The average salary for a programmer or an artist at Nintendo of America seems to be somewhere between 63k-110k. I seriously doubt the Japanese headquarters would be paying their people less than that.
The median is probably useless too, I'm fairly certain that the higher ups are getting the most of out of stocks and options which most likely aren't included in wage calculation (that'd be more of a capital gain).
I feel like the average hours are definitely going to be off. Depending on what stage of development a game is at, the man hours will vary greatly. The so-called crunch time will most likely have a much great number of hours versus the initial planning stages.
@Regpuppy I'm curious about that too. They added multiplayer to Spirit Board in the last update so maybe they'll add some additional features in this one? I hope they bring back Coin Battles.
@KO-Cub I think it's more of an aspect of them not wanting to use all the available material for Mario than the material not being there for Piranha Plant.
That little biter has been in almost every Mario game (including spinoffs). I think Super Mario Bros 2 maybe the only exception (and the Philip CD games).
@nintendosage Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon out sold Let's Go on physical sales for the first 3 days. It was about 2x as much, however it was off of an install base of about 5 times the Switch's base and also available on a platform several times cheaper (2DS).
@NEStalgia I mean there are 3 majority major owners of Dena. Only one of them is a gaming company though which is probably why Nintendo is listed on their games. And out of the 3 Nintendo has the smallest ownership as well.
@InklingLegend It's almost guaranteed that Nintendo's winning this one. That's a considerable amount of disrespect and disregard for the court system Colopl is showing. Good luck finding sympathetic judge when you act like that. Also, changing their argument in the middle of the proceedings is probably not the wisest idea.
@Kalmaro The problem I have with it, is it didn't look good in its current state. Compared to Game & Watch's other moves it doesn't look as distinctive. That's why I suggested that it would have looked better with a headband or a zigzag on the feather (like on the cape feather).
At this stage though, it'd probably be easier to just remove it than to update the model with more details.
@Kalmaro Honestly? I just thought it was a strange growth on his head. It looks so weird without some kind of white zigzag line on the feather or a headband of some sort to emphasize that it's a feather.
Even after this article, it still looks really weird. I'd have removed it simply cause it doesn't feel like it meshes well design wise.
@Kalmaro It is however consistent. They made this change originally 16 years ago with Fire Attack. None of the Game & Watch depictions from that point on (including Smash Bros) have had this version.
If anything, it seems weirder for them to have created it like that in the first place. More likely an oversight (or if you want the conspiracy theory...it's a way of drumming up sales as there's no such thing as bad press).
@personauser0893 Well they did have some help from Miyamoto. He was the origin of the idea that the series should go back to its roots. The gameplay mechanics were also inspired by watching him climbing up and down trees for more than an hour XD
@meppi64 I don't know about that. Hyrule Warriors (Wii U) got a 7 from Nintendolife which is actually quite a bit lower than what the Metacritic score is.
Extrapolating from the PS4 version of Orochi Warriors 4 (which got a 78 Metacritic score) combined with the terrible performance of the game on the Switch it's not really that hard to see why it got a 6 (arguably, it should probably be lower).
This actually seems like one of the cases where Nintendolife is more in line with other reviewers in terms of scoring. Even the initial Metacritic reviews for Orochi Warriors 4 (Switch) are suggesting that it's going to be a middling game.
@Don Probably because he works for a company instead of running one. From what I heard, his salary and bonuses are pretty modest considering his significance.
@Wanjia Read the title again. Ignoring the fact that the title of their article is a mismatch with the actual survey topic, the title matches the content of their own article (so technically they're right). Spiderman isn't a holiday release since it was released last month.
Though...then again that's weird too. Smash would be first if that was the case, since COD comes out this month.
Welp, I apologize, it doesn't seem to make sense regardless of the measuring metric used here.............
@Dualmask That would work too. I feel like Gore could fulfill both roles (source of virus and Elder dragon). It's just a juvenile version of Shagaru Magala after all.
They could have some momentary calm before the storm as Gore becomes its Elder Dragon form.
Also sorry @-Green- I was in mid-thought and ended up editing that comment, especially after realized there was indeed a way to write it based on existing plotlines.
@Dualmask They could probably build a movie around story elements of MH4 to be honest. That one revolved around the impact of a virus on the wild life and culminated in a fight against the origin of that virus (Gore Magala). As people get sick and monsters get more vicious the guild sends a specialized team consisting of comic relief, the jock, the heroine, etc as they do battle against fantastical beasts of varying sizes, oddness and all-around viciousness. Insert the Felynes doing odd and hilarious things to add more MH flavor.

Re: UK Charts: Pokémon Scarlet And Violet Enjoy The Second Biggest Franchise Launch Of All Time
@lyle_catcliffe No, it's not in terms of total sales. Generally, the version following a cooler colour scheme tends to outsell the other version.
There have only been two exceptions to this rule: Ruby and Sun.

@Raw_Dawg That would be more relevant, if this had been an Europe specific presentation.

@Tao I'm just finding that my completion rate for games has been higher on the Switch than on other platforms.

People might just be motivated to pick up stuff on the Switch simply because they feel similarly, that they'll finish what they buy.
