As Halloween fast approaches, the release of Luigi's Mansion 3, the green one's latest trip to a haunted mansion (will he never learn?), is nearly upon us. Nintendo is gearing for the launch by offering an extended look at the game's multiplayer ScreamPark Mode. We knew about this addition before, of course, although here we get a longer look at three of the included games. It seems that the mode could be a more substantial offering than we first imagined.
At nearly 13 minutes long, the video details three of the minigames. The team start off simple with 'Ghost Hunt', a competitive team game (you're either Team Luigi or Team Gooigi) which involves flushing out and sucking up as many ghosts as possible. Next up they try out 'Cannon Barrage' where the object is to load cannons and fire them at targets (it's all about teamwork and timing). Finally, they up the player count to 8 and play 'Coin Floating', where each player dives onto an inflatable in a swimming pool and fights to get the most coins (and we have to say, the water looks most inviting).
They certainly look cute, although whether these minigames will have the staying power to keep you and your mates coming back for more is a question you'll have to wait for our review to find out. The game certainly looks to provide plenty of Luigi and Gooigi goodness, though, and with Halloween only just over a week away, it won't be long before we can get our hands on all these multiplayer treats ourselves.
Darkness falls across the land - the midnight hour is close at hand! Do you like the look of what Luigi's will be slamming down with his Poltergust come 31st October? Let us know with a little message in the box below.

Is it the 31st yet?
From the looks of it, it’s all local coop once again. When will Nintendo stop treating online players like 2nd rate citizens.
Luigi Party series looks to be promising.
@Jeaz
ScareScraper: This is where you'll find multiplayer co-op ghost wrangling. Up to eight players can play either online or locally, with the objective being to save Toads and captures ghosts while racing against a timer. To prevent confusion, each player controls a different colored Luigi or Gooigi figure as you play together.
Eh...looks kinda boring to me...
I had this pre-ordered, but I’ve cancelled. It looks lovely, but the gameplay looks rather dull. And 12 hours long isn’t great. GameXplain have said the game is very easy as well, with basically no challenge.
@Jeaz I think we need even more couch multiplayer games.
@Jeaz
I personally couldn't be happier with Nintendo and its commitment to local multiplayer.
These Luigi’s Mansion games look so boring! Meh!! They look so easy!!
@alasdair91 I hope you aren't bashed too much. As great as the game looks, I too question its 60 dollar value since its so short and since I have no interest in the multiplayer.
@personauser93 I question lots of Nintendo's values but people paid 79.99 Canadian for links awakening and it's a best seller despite being under a 10 hour game with no multiplayer.
@Spudtendo @Zequio I think it’s great that they have a lot of support for local coop. But why has it to be either or?
In a life with kids and a lot of other adult commitments there just not enough time to gather up and play together, but with online coop this gets a lot easier.
A brilliant feature PlayStation has had it for years, and Steam added this week, is that they allow you to play any coop game online, using streaming. Not saying that’s the path for Nintendo (would be too taxing for Switch) but it is a nice feature for us with limited time (or friends far away)
@Jeaz its true, nothing beats having options. But at this point I just expect to Nintendo have lackluster online mutiplayer features. I keep my expectations low, always in that matter. I love Nintendo for their family friendly couch games, and enjoy Playstation for online and great graphics. Each one keep making what they do best.
@Zequio it’s frustrating since Nintendo has some really great co-op games, that would work great online.
