Launching next month on Nintendo Switch is Hexagroove: Tactical DJ, a rhythm-action game from the developers of Elite Beat Agents and Blocksworld.
The game actually combines those rhythm-action characteristics with elements of strategy, with the player's goal being to combine musical loops in real-time to keep on top of their audience's energy. The action swings from contemplative to frantic as you move between song sections, and there are ten different dance music genres to sink your DJ teeth into. Over time you'll unlock new musical loops, DJ tricks, and club venues to play in, too.
Here's a quick list of features for you:
- Choose and combine musical pieces across 10 dance genres
- Build your kit from over 420 instrumental loops
- Watch the crowd and react to clear the level in one of 7 club venues
- Time rhythmic elements and audio filters
- Improvise with sound effects and combos
- Perform DJ tricks to maximise your score
The game launches on Switch on 3rd October and will be priced at $29.99 / £29.99.

You could've just said "the elite beat agents dev's are making a new game" and I would've been 100% on board
The developers behind Elite Beat Agents huh? Well then, color me interested. I do like rhythm games. Might wait for reviews, and then we’ll see what happens.
Oh, Wow !
Can i make my own Electric Trance music ?
Noticed this in the coming soon section the other day and threw it on my watch list. Looks good.
Inis is still alive? Ok I have to get this. Still want an ouendan 3...
Edit: Not made by inis, just former employees. Way less hyped now. Will wait on reviews.
The devs who copied "ossu tatake ouendan" have come up with a game of their own? I wouldn't assume it'll be good, they've come up with this one themselves...
Sayonara Wild Hearts is the best rhythm game out now, probably even the best indie game out in recent months.
@Sabroni elite beat agents was made by inis. Who also made ouendan 1 and 2. It was just ouendan for the western set. Which makes sense as male cheerleaders are still frowned upon outside of Japan.
@SpicyBurrito16 @Doofenshmirtz these are former employees of the EBA/ouendan dev company inis. It’s like if yacht club made a new game and someone said “Mighty Switch Force devs make new game”... that isn’t Way Forward. That is folks that used to work at Way Forward. Same thing here.
@Ryu_Niiyama Thanks!! A pity that we have to come to the comments to find out who the devs actually are!
Should've been in the article....
@Ryu_Niiyama thanks for the history lesson
@Ryu_Niiyama Yeah, I was hoping Keiichi Yano and his team were making something new. It looks like they haven't made anything in the last 11 years though...
Saw this yesterday in the coming soon section. I watched the trailer and I don't think this is for me. I just don't find the same kind of enjoyment in these "be creative" kind of rhythm games, I need my simple "timed button presses" games.
Go Sweden! I've met one of the devs so I'm rooting for them! Will be interesting to follow.
@Ernest_The_Crab Yeah I got super hyped and then I saw the 151A logo (granted that is a boss name for a company) and then my hype just faded into standard curiosity.
New rhythm game from Elite Beat Agents devs? I'm listening.
.....This one is....interesting. I'll keep an eye on it.
I’d like a new Elite Beat Agents for Switch.
