I'm sure this is solid like the first one, but now that we have the real thing with Space Invaders Invincible Collection/Space Invaders Forever it's somewhat obsolete.
@robr About random delays of western releases: Sometimes the age rating agencies of certain countries can cause trouble (for example, it has been hinted at that Germany's USK is the reason Mushihimesama has temporarily disappeared from the EU eShop).
Sometimes when it comes to physical releases, a certain component can be missing (for example a lot of stuff was stuck in the ships on the Suez Canal, i heard there is some kind of problem at a port in China currently).
Also, when it comes to physical releases from certain companies like Strictly Limited Games and Limited Run Games, these publishers who cater to collectors often want to make sure all updates are included on the cart... which leads to delays of the western release whenever the japanese version gets an update. (This lead to significant delays for the Limited Run Games version of Panzer Dragoon Remake and the Strictly Limited Games version of Bubble Bubble 4 Friends).
@noobish_hat According to german website ntower, a physical release for Germany has been confirmed on Nintendo's official website, so it's fair to assume all of Europe will get a physical release.
@KayFiOS Actually, the Wii U (which was a commercial failure) was the only Nintendo home console which only had Mario Kart. N64 had Wave Race, 1080, F-Zero, Excite Bike and Diddy Kong Racing. GameCube had Wave Race, 1080, Kirby Air Ride and F-Zero. Wii had Excite Truck, Excitebots, WiiWare Excite Bike and Donkey Kong Jet Race/Barrel Blast.
Together with Esp Ra.DE which i already have and the DeathSmiles 1&2 pack in December, this means we'll have 5 Cave arcade shmups on the Switch by the end of the year... and 2 of their flip-phone games on top of that, which are nice for portable gaming.
I thought this was my favourite announcement from the Direct... Until i watched the japanese Direct and saw Cave's Mushihimesama, Dodonpachi DFK and Espgaluda 2.
You should definitely mention that 3 Cave shmups were announced in the japanese Direct, and that the first of them, Mushihimesama, is available worldwide now!
So, after reading the review, i still have a question about the gore: I noticed that there are 2 different versions with different age ratings on the JP eShop, and from what i understand the western version gets an automatic update for more gore/violence.
So, does this mean that the update (and the higher rated version on the JP eShop) have more gore then the PS3 versions of NG 1&2?
I already have the special edition with the soundtrack CDs and the alternate covers from Japan, but i'm glad to see the game being more widely accessible.
They REALLY need to support the IR camera on the right Joycon, IR controls can pretty much perfectly simulate a lightgun while gyro controls are simply not good enough.
I remember this team made some mistakes with the original release of their Panzer Dragoon Remake, and then greatly improved the game based on fan feedback , so i think using social media and Email to tell the developers about the superiority of IR aiming and the possibility to use it with the right Joycon makes sense.
My favourites on Switch are Psyvariar Delta, Strikers 1945 III, Caladrius Blaze, Crimzon Clover World Explosion, Radirgy Swag and Raiden IV x Mikado Remix.
This brings me to an interesting question: Does anyone know if Nintendo's NSO NES Controllers fit into a Flip Grip?
I'm happy about this announcement, but at the same time i'm somewhat concernd it might pick up some bad influences from Halo and CoD. TPFP already suffered from that.
So, has anything been said about a EU/UK release for Raiden IV x Mikado Remix? It was sad enough that Raiden V and Caladrius Blaze didn't get a physical release in Europe, but now Raiden IV isn't even on the EU/UK eShop so far...
I imported the JP Special Edition anyway for the soundtrack CD, but for the sake of making shmups popular with broader audiences again i think a official EU/UK release would be nice.
I got it yesterday and i'm really enjoying it so far. I actually like the difficulty balancing compared to R-Type 2, Delta, Pulstar and Last Resort. I'd rate it 8/10.
Also, they should really try to emulate Sega's Naomi arcade board so we can get Giga Wing 2, Cannon Spike, Power Stone 1&2, Project Justice and maybe Spawn In the Demon's Hand.
I'm very confident that this will just be a timed exclusive and has a good chance to appears on the Switch later, but as a shmup fan i'm more interested in Sol Cresta anyway.
@YANDMAN The first the modes in this release and Chronicle Saviours are the same: AC (a typical Darius arcade campaign), EX (a more difficult arcade campaign) and Chronicle (a massive campaign with a ton of stages). However, this new Dariusburst Another Chronicle EX+ and the older Dariusburst Chronicle Saviours each feature a different fourth mode. DBACEX+ has "Event Mode" which is a collection of campaigns which were previously only available as temporary events in the arcade and some new sets of stages done in the same style. DBCS has "CS Mode" which had a lot of unique stages, but most importantly is the only mode that does not have the arcade's ultra-wide aspect ratio and thus is the only mode without massive black bars on the top and the bottom of the screen. Also, for DBCS there is a lot of paid DLC available which uses licenses from other companies, like a Capcom DLC with planes/ships from Capcom shmups, a Cave DLC with the helicopter from Ketsui, a Sega DLC with Opa Opa from Fantasy Zone and so on.
The lack of CS mode is disappointing, but it's a great game anyway. On a sidenote, it's possible to zoom in with one of the shoulder buttons, but it's not very practical.
I strongly recommend to go with Strictly Limited Games' physical version of Darius Cozmic Revelation, as it will exclusively contain the Gameboy Sagaia game on top of G Darius and Dariusburst Another Chronicle EX.

Re: We Could Have Had A New "Ultra-Realistic" F-Zero On Switch, But Nintendo Turned It Down
Nagoshi's team at Sega needs to make the next F-Zero, otherwise it won't live up to the excellence of GX.
Anyway, maybe if Cruisn'Blast is successful Nintendo might start seeing the potential racing games with nostalgic have on their consoles.

Re: Devolver Digital Is Publishing A Physical-Only Nintendo Switch Game
I have Razion EX, which is physical only, too. Excellent game, i whish more people would have access to it.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (June 5th)
@OorWullie
Yes, i got my physical copy at the end of May. The second batch of physical copies will go on sale on the developer's website later today.
Razion EX is currently physical-only because the developer was disappointed with the digtal sales of Gunlord X.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (June 5th)
Razion EX and the new R-Type Final 2 DLC.
Oh, and maybe some Hacha Mecha Fighter or however that ultra cute Cute'em Up from the Arcade Archives series was called.
Re: Want More Cool Mini Game Systems? Say Hello To The Taito EGRET II Mini
It looks really cool, however, on my Switch i already have a whole bunch of Taito classics:
Also various Taito classics have been released in Hamster's Arcade Archives series on the eShop (Puzzle Bobble/Bust-A-Move 2&3, Ninja Warriors...).

Probably more Raiden IV x Mikado Remix, which is just brillant, and some R-Type Final 2.

Re: Review: Raiden IV x Mikado Remix - Another Astoundingly Good Shmup For Switch
This is absolutely the best game in the Raiden series, if anyone only wants one of the games i strongly recommend this IV x Mikado Remix over V.
Re: The Cotton Reboot For Switch Arrives In The West Next Month
I preordered it some time ago.
The delay doesn't really bother me as i'm busy enough with R-Type Final 2 and Raiden IV x Mikado Remix right now.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (May 8th)
I'm still busy with R-Type Final 2, but seeing that beautiful Sin & Punishment 2 art...

I'm having a great time with R-Type Final 2. It's really everything i wanted from a new R-Type game.
Re: This Insanely Expensive Neo Geo Shmup Is Coming To Switch In Physical Form
Good, i always through it was weird that they started their Switch support with Gunlord X instead of a shmup.
