@Abes3 He just talked about a possible Killer Is Dead revival in an interview a few days ago. I hope he makes it happen. I'm actually under the impression He might have used the first chinese money he got to buy the IP.
Lollipop Chainsaw is still Impossible because it's owned by Warner Bros, but honestly in my opinion it's Grasshopper's worst game, so i don't want it to return anyway.
Now that i have read the full interview, i have to say that while the idea of Suda working on a old Nintendo IP is interesting, i think the most important part of this interview is that Suda says Grasshopper owns Killer Is Dead and that he'd be interested in doing a remaster/remake.
This would mean that there is a chance that the best of Grasshopper's PS360 games Nintendo platforms missed out on has a chance of coming to the Switch.
If Nintendo Life has a chance to interview Suda anytime soon, they should definitely ask him about Killer Is Dead.
Murasame Castle actually sounds like something Nintendo might realistically give to Grasshopper, but i think Eternal Darkness would be a great choice, too.
@Joeynator3000 To be fair, even Deep Space Waifu seems to be inspired by a 1998 doujin game named Sentimental Shooting (which features characters from the dating sim series Sentimental Graffiti).
Maybe there are even more games like these, so it's kind of a genre or a sub-genre of shmups.
I don't know enough about british musicals to tell if this is good or not, but i'm glad to see someone actually making something that is "fair use" instead of making a Pokemon knockoff named "Pokemon Plutonium" or a Metroid 1 remake with Super Metroid graphics named "Metroid Remake" and then wondering why Nintendo isn't happy about it.
Guardian Force is pretty awesome. The port is not all that strong as far as features are concered, particularly in comparison to Mushihimesama, Espgaluda 2, Darius Cozmic Collection/Revelation and Space Invaders Invincible Collection, but the game is great.
@romanista They are still alive as a company, but they didn't develop any new games in a long time (2013?). I guess they would have to hire new staff for a new S&P, but that should not be too difficult If Nintendo pays the bills.
Great game, i have the japanese Dreamcast version and will definitely get this Switch version, too. I guess this means we'll also get the third game (it was on Wii and 360).
I hope one day we'll get a third Sin & Punishment game, Not only because the 2 we have are great, but also because they feel like the first 2 parts of a trilogy.
I'll stick to Cruisn'Blast. I have to admit i never understood the point of "simulation" heavy racing/driving games, which usually seem to make the driving feel more difficult and less fun then it is in real life.
I'm really glad this finally came to the Switch, i'm having a lot of fun with the local multiplayer.
I hope this does well enough to pave the way for more moderb arcade games coming to the Switch, the only other one i remember is that fishing game from Namco which was a big success in the Switch in Japan, but never made it to Europe and America.
@TreonsRealm The main reason for the negative reaction was that it had forced motion controls (no option to turn motion controls off) in a game that was originally never meant to have motion controls.
Another reason was that it was a standalone rerelease of a game that was originally developed for Dreamcast/PS2 hardware, so it looked very outdated. With this new release, ExZeus being an old game with outdated graphics is more acceptable because it's a double pack at a budget price.
Finally, the western rebranding with the Counter Force name and very cheap boxart made it look kind of trashy, now that it has it's original name back it's more recognizeable as an japanese arcade classic.
@MeloMan Arkanoid VS Space Invaders is on Space Invaders Forever and Space Invaders Invincible Collection and it's great (handheld-mode-only, however).
@OorWullie It doesn't have english language support, and while it's possible to figure things out (and also to find information online), the game definitely is a bit more difficult to play without knowing japanese then most others. I'm glad i picked it up at it's original JP release date, but now it really (no, REALLY) looks like Dispatch's western release might actually happen soon, so maybe you should wait a little bit longer.
Nice interview, you got some actually interesting answers out of him (interest in DLC/updates if the game does well, ideas to bring the original arcade/N64 trilogy to Switch, possibility of home console games...).
@romanista The developer of Rolling Gunner formerly worked for Cave. Have you tried it? It's really good.
Also, while not Cave related, i think Radirgy Swag is great and i have high hopes for Illvelo Swamp, from RS34 the team that is the successor to classic japanese arcade shmup developer Milestone (which in turn involved former Compile staff).
I strongly disagree with this review, in my opinion the The Silver Case games and Flower, Sun & Rain are among Suda's best works only surpassed by Killer7.
I definitely can see how they aren't for everyone, but honestly i would have prefered a review from someone who appreciates it.
@The_Pixel_King Setting up a japanese eShop account is definitely worth it for a shmup fan. Some shmups never leave Japan, and those that do often take unreasonably long.
In addition to the Aleste Collection and ESP RaDe, i strongly recommend Radirgy Swag and soon Illvelo Swamp.
I saw this one on the JP eShop, and i'm definitely interested, but without a english translation i probably wouldn't enjoy it too much. Maybe it'll get a english translation for a release in Asia, it happens quite often nowadays.
On a sidenote, i really think Kerry should write a Silver Case 2425 review for NintendoLife.
Honestlly, Illvelo Swamp getting a solid release date and a physical release (including Radirgy Swag on the cart!) is the bigger piece of shmup news for me this week.
I hope this leads to more, it's really weird they still have not released more physical racers. Considering the game can be played with 4 people they should at least add Peach and Yoshi.
It's really sad how they screw up Radirgy Swag's western release. I have bought it from the JP eShop and it's a excellent shmup with game design that is innovative while still showing that the developers are experienced shmup experts.
It's also surprisingly full-featured with online leaderboards ans tons of unlockables (gallery, stage select, alternativ game modes, "acheivements"...).

Suda and Nagoshi working together on a new F-Zero would be great.

Re: Suda51 Says It Would Be "Really Cool" To Reboot Or Remake Nintendo's Older IP
I noticed, this is the same company that hired Sega 's Nagoshi, who directed F-Zero GX.
Now, Suda and Nagoshi working on a new F-Zero, that would be spectacular.

Mischief Makers is great, but what i really want is the N64 version of Bangai-O.

Re: Record Of Lodoss War: Deedlit In Wonder Labyrinth Is Coming To Switch This Year
I loved the Diablo-esque Record of Lodoss War RPG on the Dreamcast. I usually don't care about Metroidvania, but i might give this one a chance.

I hope one day we'll get a third Sin & Punishment game, Not only because the 2 we have are great, but also because they feel like the first 2 parts of a trilogy.
Re: Switch's N64 Controller Is Hiding Some Extra Buttons
Nintendo really needs to improve payment options for their MyNintendo store. It's a shame they don't offer basic stuff like bank transfer or PayPal.
Re: Next Nintendo Direct To Air Today, 23rd September 2021
Something from Suda would be great, maybe a Killer7 port, or that Shadows of the Damned remake everyone expected after TSA.

Re: Swery's "Small-Town Detective Thriller" The Good Life Launches Next Month
I loved Deadly Premonition 2 (thought it was much better then the first one), so i'll definitely give this one a chance.

So, why does the map of the track look like that? Is it the silhouette of a certain character? Maybe from another game or an anime?

Re: Excellent Shmup 'Crimzon Clover World EXplosion' Is Getting A Fancy Switch Physical Release
Preorders went live this evening and i got the big edition, yay!

Good, so i guess Sega and Yakuza won't go down the drain.
Also, it would be nice if Jet Set Radio Future would get a port/remaster.

Re: PlatinumGames Reveals Arcade Cabinet For Upcoming Shmup 'Sol Cresta'
I'm pretty hyped for this, but i think the greatest NEW shoot'em up this year will be Illvelo Swamp.
Re: Cave's Shmup Espgaluda II Is Targeting A September Switch Release In Japan
Day one for sure!
It's awesome how quickly the Switch's Cave library is growing.
Re: Poll: No More Heroes 3 Is Out Today On Switch, Are You Getting It?
Can't wait to play it, but i still think Killer7 and Killer Is Dead are Suda's best.

Re: Kazuma Kiryu Will Actually Be In Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania
@Ralizah
From a gameplay perspective, i'd say Akiba's Trip is the most Yakuza-like game we have on the Switch.
Re: Cave's Shmup Espgaluda II Is Targeting A September Switch Release In Japan
Nice, i hope at one point there'll also be physical releases of these games on the Switch.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (July 24th)
Played The Silver Case 2425 and some Ninja Gaiden.
Re: Nintendo Gigaleak Reveals Scrapped DS Projects, Including A New Pokémon Pinball Game

Re: Nintendo Download: 8th July (Europe)
The Silver Case deserves a review, i think Kerry should do it.
Re: Cruis'n Blast Brings Classic Arcade Racing To Switch This September
After years of port begging, i'll certainly pick this up day one.
Re: Feature: Treasure Games That Need Switch Ports Or Sequels
Sin & Punishment 1&2 feel like the first 2 games in a trilogy, Nintendo really should use their money to get Treasure to make a third one.
