Re: Velan Reveals An Early Prototype Of Its Mario Kart RC

@abdias
Yea, the whole game looks really cool now that we've seen more of it.
The one big problem i currently have with the game is the lack of splitscreen. This is exactly the type of game my girlfriend would love to play wth me, but we only have one Switch in the household.

Another thing i'm mildly concerned about it that i'd rather play as someone else then Mario or Luigi, but i'm pretty sure that if the game is even moderately successful, Nintendo will release more Karts.

Re: First Impressions: Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit

EmirParkreiner

I would buy if they added splitscreen in an update.

I have a huge living room and enough money to buy 4 of these Karts, BUT neither my girfriend who lives with me nor any of my friends who sometimes come over for local multiplayer have Switches.

Nintendo is definitely leaving money on the table if don't work hard to create a splitscreen update, without it people without Switch-owning friends can't play multiplayer (except if they already have multiple Switches in the household), AND splitscreen would motivate people to buy multiple Karts.

On a sidenote, i definitely see Nintendo releasing more Karts/racers in the future, i guess Peach and Yoshi might come next.

I'm very disappointed they un-inverted the aiming and looking controls, Sunshine is more or less unplayable for me now, and it's also irritating when looking around in 64.

Inverted y-axis is how Nintendo taught people to play 3d games, all their japanese developed games have it, and almost all N64 games had it (Mario 64, Pilotwings, the 4 Turok games, Duke Nukem 64...).

Re: Suda51's Cult Classic Killer7 Might Be Coming To Nintendo Switch

EmirParkreiner

This game is a true masterpiece.

I have feeling that nothing will ever surpass it, because games that dare to be this artistic rarely get a AAA budget - just look at cheaply the Deadly Premonition and No More Heroes games are made.
But for Killer7, Suda was somehow (probably because of Mikami's support) able to get Capcom to give him AAA money for a game that wasn't designed as a cookie cutter commercial product, but as a piece of art.

I hope the Switch version will help it to finally reach a new audience.

Re: Review: 1993 Shenandoah - One For Hardcore Amiga Fans Only

EmirParkreiner

I can definitely get some Amiga nostalgia out of this one, but in the end of the day classic euroshmup design never was as good as japanese arcade shmup design.

Gunlord also provides great Amiga (Turrican) nostalgia.

On a sidenote, i'm happy to finally see Quad Fighter K mentioned in a NintendoLife review.

Re: Feature: Missile Dancer Dev Terarin Games On Shmup Design, Future Plans And Embracing Western Players

EmirParkreiner

Nice to hear he's working on another shmup, i got both Gemini Arms and Missile Dancer from the JP eShop and enjoy them both. I'll definitely get his next game as soon as it comes out, too.

Maybe this article will make sure he finally gets some attention from western publishers, these shmups are definitely better then some of those available on western eShops.

Re: Mini Review: Darius Cozmic Collection Console - A Surprisingly Varied Selection Of Home Ports

EmirParkreiner

I really think the Arcade collection should have been rated one point higher then this one, but anyway, i'm really glad you reviwed them.

I'm generally very happy about the great shmup coverage we get on NL, it was really nice to see reviews for Space Invaders Invincible Collection, Missile Dancer, Sky Racket and Thunder Force AC on what's probably the world's biggest, most mainstream Nintendo-focused website.

Re: Space Invaders Invincible Collection Is Getting A Physical Western Switch Release

EmirParkreiner

@mike_intv
The regular JP version you see is lacking Space Invaders DX, Space Cyclone and Lunar Rescue.
These are probably also the games that will be left out of the western "smaller retail edition".

The only ways to get these games in Japan were the Special Edition with a book and a board game (which now costs over 180$ on Play-Asia, it was cheaper when i preordered it) and the Famitsu DX Pack (Special Edition plus a set of plates) which now costs over 270$ on Play-Asia (i hink it originally cost 250$).

In comparison to that, offering a 60$ physical version without collectors items seems rather fair.

About the Namco comparison, seriosly, you can't compare Space Invaders Extreme to an NES game.
It's like saying the Atari Collection with it's about 100 games from the early 80's on Switch provides a better value the the Bioshock Collection with it's 3 games.
(Of course, newer games are not inherently better, but it makes a difference for their market value, like how NES were 5$ on the Wii VC, SNES games were 8$, N64 games were 10$)
