HAMSTER is bringing the classic shmup Raiden to the Nintendo Switch as part of its Arcade Archives range next month, it has been announced. The game arrives on the eShop on July 1st.

Originally released by Seibu Kaihatsu to great success in 1990, Raiden spawned a long-running series that continues to this day. The most recent release, Raiden IV x Mikado Remix, launched on Switch this year, and the console already has Raiden V Director's Cut.

Raiden has been ported to many home systems over the years, including the SNES, Mega Drive, PC Engine and even the Atari Jaguar. Are you excited about the fact that you'll soon be able to play the original arcade edition on your Switch? Let us know with a comment.
