It has been revealed that this week's Arcade Archives release is Konami's 1991 shmup Thunder Cross II, the sequel to the popular 1988 original (which is also available on Switch).
While the Gradius series tends to get all of the attention, both Thunder Cross outings are worth a look if you're a fan of the genre, and there's actually some degree of crossover between them and Gradius – the weapon select system is similar, and 'Option' pods are crucial to success.
Thunder Cross II will set you back $7.99 in North America and £6.29 in the UK. Will you be picking this one up?

Looks fun. Might pick it up
Nice. This is the only one I don’t have!
Why does NintendoLife never put Euro price in these articles?
Like, its based in the UK (as fare as I know) and an hell of a lot of Europeans read this site. IDK
I'm pretty sure I read that Thunder Force takes place on another planet in the Gradius universe. That said, hell yes TF2!!!
@readyletsgo because the exchange rate changes daily maybe? Plus if you live in a euro-zone you will have an idea of the cost I would assume. Does the fact that the price isn't in Euro's dissuade you from making purchases?
I'd get this if it was 25p
@YANDMAN no, the price stays the same on Nintendo eShop, doesn't go up or down for Europeans with exchange rates. Same on American eShop and UK eshop. Just be nice to see it on here like the two other currencies. Nothing to do with exchange rates.
This site used to list the Euro price, then just stopped a few years ago. I'm just wondering why. Since a lot of Europeans read this site. Same as UK folk and American people too. For convenience mostly.
Konami really needs to get the Parodius games on the Switch.
Great games Thunder Cross 1 and 2, great music as well. Bring Parodius collection now please!!!
Yes for once they are releasing a shooter that is not Gradius.
I know I say this every week and I'm sorry if it's getting annoying at this point, but I really hope we get Mystic Warriors, Metamorphic Force, and Violent Storm before Konami stops porting their old arcade games.
I never played the second one but it should be classic Konami. Still waiting for Konami Jackal and Konami Gradius 4 and 5.
Where the F is raiden. I’m going to die before that’s released.
Is this the big Konami come back announcement?
Why aren't these games showing up as updates or DLC to the Konami Anniversary collections (that, fyi, didn't even have Frogger, lol).
Also, where's Raiden. Heck, where's Cotton and all of the M2 shmups I saw everyone review a year ago? I ain't doing this multiple accounts on my switch crap. :0
Rabble rabble. Hey kids, get off of my lawn!
@Ghost_of_Hasashi Not sure what you mean "for once they are releasing a shooter that is not Gradius". Maybe you're only noticing Gradius more due to the name recognition, because we've seen PLENTY of other Konami shooters in the Arcade Archives line.
Below is a list of all of the Konami games released as part of the Switch Arcade Archives line. Non-Gradius shooters are indicated with a (*) - there are 12 of those, compared to 4 Gradius releases. Honestly, VS Gradius is the only somewhat questionable choice (and even then, it's kinda cool to get a variant that was previously not very accessible). It shouldn't be surprising at all that they wanted to release Gradius I-III, as main series games in one of the company's (heck, the genre's) most iconic franchises.

One of my arcade favorites many years ago. Still playing it with an emulator until now. Nice horizontal SHMUP.
@readyletsgo So if it stays the same you already know how much it is. A pointless request.
