I'm pretty sure Daemon X Machina Titanic Scion is a proper physical here in Europe. I will try to avoid those key cards just as i avoid paying full retail price for digital.
@Sisilly_G He is talking about Darius Cozmic Collection, G Darius HD (also availabe as "Cozmic Revelation" bundle with Dariusburst EX+) and the Raystorm/Raycrisis/etc collection.
Honestly, it's rather frustrating to see how this can't get a western release, yet brick and mortar places have tons of borderline shovelware on the shelves, the eShop gets literal asset flips and shovelware with names like "Counter Call of Medal of Strike Honor" and the limited run publishers do their best to make a expensive limited edition out of every semi-solid indie that is rightfully 10$ on the eshop...
I want to know who''s developing the new Streets of Rage!
Sega has experience with 3d beat'em up gameplay (Yakuza, Die Hard Arcade/Dynamite Cop, Spikeout) so i think a team with people that worked on these games could pull it off.
@Thomystic About great 3d beat'em ups, i think the Dynamite Deka series is very good, people generally seem to love the first one that was released as Die Hard Arcade in western countries. Sega really should have made that game Steets of Rage 4 and the sequel SoR 5 (with some changes to the characters and settng of course).
Sega's SpikeOut and SlashOut series also feel a lot like good spiritual successors to SoR and Golden Axe.
Nice, i always wanted a 3d Streets of Rage that plays like Die Hard Arcade/Dynamite Cop, this could turn out great if it's done by the right developers. Also, i'm really happy about the return of Jet Set Radio and Crazy Taxi.
Played a lot of Air Twister, love they musical-like feeling. The controls could be a bit tighter, but everything else is relly how i like it.
I'll also try to put some time in the shmup/rhythm game hybrid Noisz which i got from the JP eShop, i really hope NL will review it when it comes to Europe (or do an import review).
Some ok games, some mediocre features/emulation, that's what one can expect from the combination of QBite and Visco.
However, as a collection this is a nice little history lesson, particularly considering Andro Dunos 2 turned out very good, so it's nice to have the original available.
From the perspective of giving attention to good/interesting stuff that might otherwise fly under the radar, i think i'd rather have seen a review for one of the recent Arcade Archives releases or the recently released Deltazeal.
So, is there even a European/UK version of that collector's edition?
Importing from Japan seems unattractive because of the included included print material which i wouldn't understand , importing from the US seems unattractive because i don't have a US eShop account to access Rumble Fish 1 and the DLC fighters.
On a sidenote, it's quite ironic one of the three DLC fighters is named Greed...
So, is it true this doesn't support tate (vertical) mode for the games that need it? The older Namco Museum was among the first games on Switch to support tate, so it would be very disappointing if it was missing here.
@WaveBoy I think the Saturn version of Bubble Bobble Symphony has been announced at the same time as this version of Layer Section, as well as some other Taito Saturn games City Connection will bring to the Switch.
@HalBailman I think some shmups on the Switch support what you're asking for, i'm pretty sure i sometimes see shmups having options to rotate the controls with the screen so people can play vertical shmups horizontally.
3 is actually my favourite NMH, so i'm glad more people get to play it.
However, Killer7 is still Grasshopper's best game by far, i hope they'll port it to modern consoles at one point. I'd also like to play Killer Is Dead on modern consoles.
I really love this game, i kept playing it since it's original JP release. I'm glad it's finally available to a broader audience, but it shouldn't have taken so long.
Love this game, and the developers are great people keeping the shmup genre alive for a long time (they had games on Dreamcast, PS2, GameCube, Wii, 3DS)... It's really sad that the western publisher is so incompetent and delayed the western release a million times.
@masterLEON About DeathSmiles II, i wouldn't say polygon graphics are inherently bad for shmups, but Cave was not very experienced with polygons when they made DS2. I mean, Ikaruga, Border Down and Under Defeat look great... and Cave not even being able to match the quality of Dreamcast shmup polygon shmup graphics made DS2's look on the 360 even more disappointing.
While i personally would still rate it 9/10, i definitely agree that considering the complexity of the gameplay and the wealth of mode and features, the game definitely does not do enough to explain anything.
Honestly, i think that pandering exclusively to people who have a lot of experience with shmups and going out of their way giving modes and versions strange names is a general problem with Cave games.
Love P.N.03, i still wonder if the final boss of that Wii beat'em up by Capcom was inspired by P.N.03's final boss, Alraune, or if they are so similar because they share a older inspiration.
This is nice and all, but i think reporting on how Eschatos and Illvelo Swamp come out on Switch in Japan this week is the more important event for Switch-owning shmup fans right now.
I mean, Illvelo Swamp even gets a physical release, and importing a game from Japan/Asia is not more of a hassle then importing a game from America for the large EU/UK part of your readership.
(Don't get me wrong, it's really nice your reporting on physical releases of small games like this, i just think considered the Switch is region-free, NintendoLife's coverage of interesting japanese releases could be expanded.)
Nice, i already planned to get this because the visuals remind me of Cho Aniki, so i'm glad the game itself and the port are good, too.
Talking of shmups, i think rRootage Reloaded also deserves a review, preferably by someone who's played Ikaruga, Psyvariar and Giga Wing (so i guess Kerry would be a good choice again).
It was a great month for the eShop with gems like The Good Life, Fatal Frame 5, Gleylancer and Voice of Cards.
However, my favourite was rRootage Reloaded, which NintendoLife sadly has not reported on at all so far. It's a really cool minimalist shmup with game modes based on Ikaruga, Psyvariar and Giga Wing.
Nice mini-review, i was curious about this one. A mini-review for rRootage Reloaded would be nice too, i picked it up recently and love it and i'm kind of concered it might fly under the radar.
I really think we need a conversation about how voice actors get way too much credit when it comes to video games.
The people who say some cheesy phrases and make some "Ugh!" "Ouch!" sounds during a fighting game should not get more attention then the people responsible for the gameplay or the art direction.
Also, Gleylancer and rRootage just came out and Gynoug, Eschatos, DeathSmiles 1&2 and Illvelo Swamp are still on the way this year, so as a shmup fan i certainly can't complain about a drought on the Switch.

Re: NOISZ re:||COLLECTION G
I hope NintendoLife will review this game once it arrives in Europe, it was a very positive surprise for me when i found it on the JP eShop.

Hey, this Deltazeal deserves a review, it's very good!

Good retro-style shmup.
Talking shmups, has Nintendo Life reported about the announcement of Radirgy 2 at Tokyo Game Show?

The big news here is the PayPay support, i really think the headline and the article should be rewritten accordingly.

Someone really needs to localize the Switch eShop ports of their classics, i'd buy Baroque in a heartbeat.
Re: Mini Review: Raging Blasters - Another Fantastic Shmup We'd Love To See In The West
Got it from the JP eShop, it's definitely a nice little shmup.
Another one that deserves a import review is Illvelo Swamp.

I'm playing the 3 great shmup releases the Switch got recently: Dodonpachi Ressurection, Eschatos and Illvelo Swamp.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (November 20th)
I'm playing Illvelo Swamp and Eschatos, which i bought from the japanese eShop.
If i want something more relaxing, i might also play some The Good Life again.
Re: Feature: 14 Wii Games That Deserve Switch Ports
Sin & Punishment Star Successor is amazing.
MadWorld and The Last Story were great, too.
I would also buy Tatsunoko VS Capcom again, it's probably my favourite fighting game, but i think it's unlikely because of the license.
Re: Feature: 10 Overlooked GameCube Gems You Must Play
