Re: Review: Space Invaders: The Invincible Collection - 40 Years Of History In One Package

I ordered the Special Edition when it was still available for a reasonable price, an i'm very happy i did, but i have to say that the regular edition contains all the most important games.
The only really cool thing the SE adds is the VS Mode of Space Invaders DX.

I have to say i really love this collection, it just oozes style, charme and polish.

@Shiryu :
I'm not sure if NL reviews can be edited, but it should be noted that the Arkanoid VS Space Invaders download code comes with every copy of the game and is not some kind of bonus. People who buy the digital version from the JP eShop get it, too.

@Zeldafan79 :
Yea, while i'm overall very happy with the collection and the decisions they made when it came to the question which games they included and which they left out make sense to me, the lack of Get Even is sad. It's such a great game, and now it's stuck on the closed Wii Shop Channel...

@Wargoose
Yea, that's why i said SamSho is better "at it's core", the gameplay is better then MK11, and that's what's the most important to me, but it's clear that it can't beat MK11 as far as modes and features are concerned.

However, nice looking graphics/visuals are still always good to have, and Samurai Shodown just looks great and to see downgrades compared to the PS4 version, i had to watch a side-by-side comparisons.
With Mortal Kombat 11, just playing the Switch version, without looking at the PS4 version at all, i quickly got a feeling of "this isn't what the game is really supposed to look like".

Re: New Game+ Expo To Feature 14 Publishers This June, Including SEGA, Atlus And SNK

Great, this i the E3 replacement i'll pay attention to, all the great stuff in one place (well, and probably some VNs which i don't care about, but it's still bound to be a million times better then Geoff's event with the cookie cutter developers).

I hope we'll finally get some proper No More Heroes 3 gameplay from Grasshopper.

Also, i'm pretty sure SNK will show King of Fighters XV and maybe even a new Metal Slug.

@GameOtaku
Asking for games based on licenses is mostly fruitless, but looking at how we recently got In The Hunt (great game!), i think we can hope for more 90's games soon.

@WoomyNNYes
I don't know about Crazy Taxi in particular, but looking at other Dreamcast/Naomi games that got ported to both GameCube and PS2, the GameCube versions are usually better.

Yea, randomly completely ignoring some good/interesting games is the reason why i could never rely on NintendoLife as my sole source of Nintendo-related news.

It's particularly bad when it comes to games that have no confirmed western release, for example they completely ignored Sisters Royale until it got announced for the west, which took about a year.
Even some good games that actually got western releases like Quad Fighter K (Kyogeki Quartet Fighters in Japan) get completely ignored.

Space Invaders Invincible Collection is definitely worth getting, as Majestic Twelve, Arkanoid VS Space Invaders, Extreme and Gigamax are really fun, i went with the Special Edition, but honestly the regular has all of the most important games (however, DX's VS mode is good fun).

The thing is, what kind of reviews could we actually expect for a Bubble Bobble game that sticks close enough to the original formula?

Some reviewers could never accept a 2d game with an arcade length as a retail game, and would have probably reacted more positively to a game bloated to 500 stages, or a game that completely changed the concept (with 3d gameplay or grindy RPG leveling).

I have not played BB4F myself so far (i'll get it soon), so i can't say for sure if it's good or not.
However, from the videos i've seen the graphics and the music give me the impression that the team was serious about making a good game.

I'm also generally under the impression that Taito is a pretty reliable company outside of a short phase of weakness that lasted from the PS2 days into the early PSWii60/DS days.
All of their more recent efforts were very, very good in my opinion (Dariusburst, Ninja Saviors, Darius Cozmic Collection, Space Invaders Invincible Collection including the very recent Space Invaders Gigamax and Arkanoid VS Space Invaders).

I just don't see why someone who cares so much about Bubble Bobble wouldn't want to get BB4F anyway, i mean, it looks like a really good and faithful successor all around.

If this was a game that plays very different from the original (like Donkey Kong 64 is obviously very different from the included unlockable original arcade game, or all those classic Sega games' in Shenmue and Yakuza), or if BB4F wasn't good (like those mediocre PS2/GC Turtles games that had unlockable arcade classics), i'd understand your position.

But this seems more of a Panzer Dragoon Orta situation where the original is included with a good and faithful sequel any fan of the original should enjoy.

Re: Panzer Dragoon: Remake Will Patch In Saori Kobayashi's Remixed Soundtrack

EmirParkreiner

I'm having a good time with this remake, i really think some people have unrealistic expactations of what this could have been.

Sure, there are some minor annoyances in this remake, and the original itself was always just a very good game, not a masterpiece like Star Fox 64, Sin & Punishment 1&2 or the later Panzer Dragoon games, but in the end of the day this is still a very good shooter.

The level design (route, enemy placements...), music and the core gameplay mechanics are still the same good stuff from the original.
The art direction for cutscenes, enemies and characters does the original justice, of course it's kind of sad that the graphics just got upgraded to modern indie download level, instead of modern AAA, but that's not something that came out of nowhere.
