Re: Nintendo Now Officially Owns 100% Of Monolith Soft

Elbarbo

Rareware was my favourite studio back in the SNES and even more N64 period. I cried when I saw that Nintendo was no more their "owner" (they weren't, only 49%).
But even if I am a big fan of Nintendo, they mistreated Rare, their jewel.
Critisizing what they did with their platformer games (the best for me in that period, and for 10 years), not supporting Banjo-Tooie (my favourite), modifying Dinosaur Planet, "destroying" Conker (for the best !? I would like to have Twelve Tales too).
Honestly, Rare was looking for other partners at that time. The Stamper brothers were the gods, but they left videogame early after that. Owning Rare without Stamper Bros. is not the same thing as owning them in the golden era.
They maybe would have give the IP to other (like microsoft do : Battletoads, Killer Instinct, and Perfect Dark on X Box One/series aren't made by Rare...).
I dream of having Stamper Brothers, and still all their legendary musicians working on their titles (but it's easier for that part).
If Switch had games from the golden Era of Rare...my God !
But we can say that with other franchises that disappear (F-Zero / Starfox/Pilotwings/1080°/Wave Race/Excite...Bike XD, etc...Donkey Kong !!!)

Re: Ubisoft Closes Two Studios And Will Reportedly Lay Off Hundreds Of Employees

Elbarbo

Thanks to @Farts_Ahoy for a rare smart commentary.
Ubisoft is massive, has a lot of studios, employees, and IPs.
They're in a bad situation because of their politics (Ubi Connect, Microtransaction, NFT, etc...).
Better not talking about sexual harassment or things like that, nobody knows if it was rare cases or not, like in a lot of companies. Reading people being happy about the fall of Ubi just because it's a giant is painful. So easy to get happy when you're not concerned.
It's an enterprise that needs to be restructured. The game developement is a priority.
They do good games most of the time. The reason people say they're mediocre is because those games look the same in their structure, or don't feel new, and are bugged from the beggining. Those games need to restart with more soul inside, and carefully developped, until the end.
Ubisoft needs to live again, not dying. Just a matter of cycle. they took bad decision over this decade, and they need to focus on what could help them becoming anew a great enterprise.
Layoffs are unevitable, before restructuring and employing anew. That's the same cycle for everything in life, so why bashing Ubisoft ?
I know why. Mankind is snarky, it's easier than thinking of what could be done for the best.
I'm not fluent in English, sorry.

Re: UK Charts: Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake Crashes Out Of The Top 40

Elbarbo

For sure European people doesn't have any taste, Nintendo Switch undeperformed compared to PS4, for example. We could have twice the number of sales, at least, if it performed the same rate than the rest of the world. I'm talking about hardware sales.
Excuse my English, and the not subtile thought.

Re: Rumour: A Rayman Remake May Be On The Cards At Ubisoft

Elbarbo

Excuuuuuuse me Princess, we don't really know what happened with Michel Ancel before he left the company. Even if it seems true that it was tyrannic at this time, we don't have any proof, and only one side of arguments.
If you think that every game is cook in a perfect and clean kitchen, you're worng. Even our legend Miyamoto had its bad times, but I don't see anybody say "I won't forget and never buy a Mario Game again...".
I think it's an too easy way to deal with the matters, without intelligence (sorry, I don't say that smoothly in English), but it's a right, of course.

Re: Pour One Out For The Modchip Seller Facing Nintendo In Court Alone

Elbarbo

@KBuckley27 It's because you follow an ideology instead of respect of laws and principles. It's based on emotion, and nothing logical. I won't excuse every stealing just because it's made by a nice (or not) poor guy. What's your opinion if the seller was rich ?
We don't know if the man says truth or not, but we will see.

Re: Japanese Charts: Mario Kart Speeds Back Into Top Three As Switch Stays In Control

Elbarbo

@link3710 PS5 Pro was announced after the fall, ans this fall came after the price increased of the standard model of PS5.
Waiting the PS5 Pro doesn't explain everything; and the poor amount of Astro Bot sold follow this weak time for PS5.
We will see half November if it was only that.
I hope for Sony it's nothing much, but the society doesn't take care of Japan's customers. They're leaving Sony more and more at every new generation of Playstation System.

Re: Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom Overview Trailer Gives Us Another Tasty Look

Elbarbo

@Notsoavid Yes, it's called "Cadence of Hyrule : Crypt of the NecroMancer", this time...

Nintendo always makes this kind of overview trailer, and a lot of publicity one month and a half ahead of the relaease, for the most of their games.
Even M&L, and Jamboree had publicities this month.
Everything is normal.

Re: Super Mario Party Jamboree Will Include Pauline As A Playable Character

Elbarbo

Pauline is great, but...Ninji is better as a non-gender character (lol). I like Ninji.
But (again), I prefer Rosalina (Harmonie, in French).

I agree with @Poodlestargenerica ! More variety of rules and customization is welcome, beacuse there is frustrating things for me in those games. I win 80% of mini-games, have 1 more star in the end and........lose with the ending roulette of random retributions (always in favor of CPU, even if we're 3 humans...). It's something that angers me, and I almost never play alone because of that, even if inside me, I would like to do it.

I even want an organic world, just for the fun of being in a world, more than in a "select mode" style. The first "Super MP" was a bit like that.

Excuse my english.

Re: Random: Everybody 1-2-Switch! Was A Best-Seller In July 2024

Elbarbo

1-2 Switch and Everybody 1-2 Switch are nice games.
They're juste made for special circumstances.
If you eat raw meat with a spoon, you won't like it, but if you wait for having a good knife, and some cooking, you will taste it differently. This is this kind of game.
Games have different specificities, and those ones are not made for being bought alone as your next game to do. Just pick it with some friends.
Just a bad point : they're too expansive at launch (50 and 30 euros, respectively).
Reading commentaries made me laugh XD

Re: Nintendo Of Europe Completes Plan To Merge Subsidiaries

Elbarbo

Stephan Bole is French, and the top 5 best selling games every week in France is for Nintendo (physical releases).
The Nintendo store at Japan Expo in Paris was a huge success.
Or why not in Switzerland, but it could cost a lot coming for a lot of europeans, maybe. I guess it depends of the market.
Nintendo underperformed with Switch in Europe, compared to PS4 sales. It's Sony's Territory...I hope more light for Nintendo here, in the old continent.

Re: Talking Point: Could Ganondorf Ever Be The Star Of A Zelda Game?

Elbarbo

Yes, in a brutal DMC/Bayonetta-Like.
The story begins after being banished, and he's in "Hell", reclaiming the throne, defeating the bosses he will summon in his army later. Possibility to use thme in some strategy plan for taking down other circles of his inferno.
Becoming King of this underworld will grant him the power to break the seal in the end...The End.
Or maybe he deserves a game less than Tingle, for Nintendo...XD

Re: Nintendo Files Two New Lawsuits In Continued Clamp Down On Switch Piracy

Elbarbo

@axelhander Are you serious ? The only thing I read in your words is a frustrated man showing egoist immaturity. "Rich companies are evil"
My God, what a caricature.
Earn money, don't think you owe it all, and respect the intellectual properties and laws. That's what and adult do.
If you want something, pay for it.
Or if you're such a good man, open your home to all people that don't have one, and feed them too.
The only thing stealers do is complaining about the right they don't have to steal, looking for pathetic excuses...
Even in this case, Nintendo adverted them before...

Re: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Zooms Past 60 Million Sales

Elbarbo

@NoLife You can wait, but you will like them a lot !! Play them with an audio headset, they both have good musics !!
I love particularly DKC Tropical Freeze. I did it last month, after 10 years...an amazing game !
Astral Chain is beautiful (but enough variety of environment, but really sufficient), and is complex with battle gameply, but a good alternative to Bayonetta (that is my favorite, but it depends on personnal atempts for a game).
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe...what else ?

Re: Switch Sales Pass 139 Million, Will Be "Main Business" Heading Into 2024, Says Nintendo President

Elbarbo

I agree, Nintendo could have interest for Switch becoming the most sold hardware of history, but...for what purpose ? The next hardware will come before it happens, it could be dangerous making publicities for a old hardware.
An enterprise is only interested in business.
I want the Switch to surpass everything, because it's an hybrid one, and a wonderful hardware, with great games.
PS2 is considered sol between 155 to 159 million.
At least, 20 million more Switch in 2 or 3 years could be nice to reach this goal. 160 million is a beautiful number.

Re: Mario + Rabbids Sparks Of Hope Has Reportedly Sold Almost 3 Million Copies

Elbarbo

Attention : there was 10 million "players" on the first title, not 10 million sells. Marketing communication is like a cheat, sometimes (maybe not, who konws...).
But at some late point, the first one was around 3,5 million sells, and was the first third party title, before MH Rise took the crown with 6,5 millions...
Where is the truth.
This time, it's about the number of copies sold.

Re: Feature: 25 Nintendo 64 Games We'd Love To See Added To The Switch Online Expansion Pack

Elbarbo

Snowboard Kids 2
Mystical Ninja 2
Mickey's Speedway USA
Killer Instinct GOLD
With that, all Rareware stuff will be playable, and the last episodes of other good series you mentioned.
Maybe Tonic Trouble ?
There were others platformers, like Glover, The 2 Chameleon Twist, Stardust Ido'nt-remember-what, etc...
Not all good, but why not.
And the Bomberman series.
Castlevania, maybe just the last version.

Re: Nintendo Shares Hit Record High, Apparently Thanks To 'Switch 2' Fever

Elbarbo

@geshem Thank you for this exhaustiv list.
But to fail or to win is not determined by the place in some sort of competition. There is a lot of videos about gaming history (but I only now French chanels, as I am).
Somme of the "minis", or lite versions, etc..;is just to grab juste a bit more, and is part of the main model range.
It's just a matter of economy, for determining what is a success or not, in the end.
After that point, we can discuss of quality of hardware, pads, games, etc...
But nice list.

Re: Nintendo Shares Hit Record High, Apparently Thanks To 'Switch 2' Fever

Elbarbo

@Johnvboy We won't be set free from rumors. Switch 2 Pro rumor is waiting for us XD
The infernal cycle of rumors...

@CaleBoi25 It's not how it will work (normally) Share are increasing, but Switch decrease, Nintendo won't lose its momentum. The longer you wait falling, the hardest it's to climb. You have to pursue agressively while you're at the top, for being at an even better level. Sorry, I'm not fluent in English...

Re: Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Rated For Switch By ESRB

Elbarbo

Switch 2 for September, announced in June.
New announcements in February Direct for filling Switch until September with remasters (already known + 1) and one new game (with Zelda and Metroid Prime Shadow drops ?)
MP4 in July.
No DLC, developers are focused on Switch 2.
And after February Direct, I will be sure it's not what I planned at all XD
