The dolphin emulator has probably only barely gotten by without issue... this, however, is going to draw a lot of attention, so I expect Nintendo will take action against it.
Considering the countries, it's not overly surprising... it probably wouldn't be too hard to effectively conceal an explosive device in something like a tablet.
I wouldn't exactly call adding a bit of foam a 'fix'... probably more of an up-grade. It seems to me that the foam just provides a bit of insulation to shield the bluetooth transmitter/receiver from interference... it probably doesn't actually fix the problem, only make it less likely to occur.
Just done this... utterly hilarious. An insanely easy way of doing it... wait for a thunder storm... a lot of the tougher enemies are holding metal weapons, so they get hit by lightning and are killed instantly... then the others pick up their dropped weapons and the same thing happens.
You can actually disable having to select a user when you start a game in the options... I have and it just jumps straight into the game... although I do only have the one account on the console, and never tried it out before I found the option, so I don't actually know how much difference it makes.
While I doubt the Switch will have as vast a library as the Wii, the console itself certainly holds more appeal, and once it gets a steady flow of big name titles, I could definitely see it giving the Wii a run for it's money.
Still don't think it's a main series game, and this might actually be evidence to support that. To be taking on new employees like this makes me think they might be splitting their developers into two main teams, with the new hirings being needed to fill in the gaps in each that result from this... and two main teams would indicate two separate routes of development... one would obviously be the main series Pokemon games, while the other would likely be for spin-offs (which have typically been handled by other studios in the past).
Looks like it's to do with being on the edge of a waterfall... the falling mechanic seems to recognise it as being part of the waterfall itself, allowing Link to pass through it... I doubt it would be difficult for them to patch once it's brought to their attention, but it is interesting that it hadn't been caught during testing.
I find it funny that the guys I know who were heavily trash talking it before release have completely shut up about it now... they can't really argue against the evidence now.
Not really gotten interested in Overwatch myself, but some friends of mine play it a lot, so I understand the hype. Putting it on the Switch could be a good idea, as local wi-fi gameplay could be added to balance out the online issue... but I can't help but think that it might end up competing too much with Splatoon, so it might be better for both sides if they didn't port it.
I got the official accessory set, which seems to do the job. It's not as rigid or padded as I thought it would be, but it still seems to be enough to keep the Switch safe, and keeps the size down as much as possible. There is also space for some game cards, which I'm sure will come in handy when I get more games, and the fold-out stand looks like it'll be more stable that the one on the Switch itself. The screen protector also fits quite nicely, and seems to be doing it's job.
@speedracer216 You can only receive items from an amiibo once a day, but you can save first and reload in order to have another try. And non-Zelda ones do work, but they don't give you much, and it's completely random.
@dumedum As long as Wolf Link hasn't died that day you can actually scan him multiple times (but won't regain health when you do), as he will disappear when you enter certain areas. I'm not sure about updating the number of hearts though... that may need to wait until the next day.
I've been saying for a while that this is probably an environmental factor interfering with it. There was actually a far worse problem with Wiimotes that didn't get much attention... interference from the bluetooth of Blackberry devices could cause severe drops in connection... so I wouldn't be surprised if this was something similar.
My local HMV has heavily cut down on their gaming section since their financial problems a few years back, but despite their limited stock, they still have some Switch stuff available... probably due to their full RRP pricing, and lack of additional incentives
That line about LAN play threw me at first, but it doesn't seem like a big deal. I'm guessing it's intended more for tournament play (which is great to see them taking into consideration) rather than casual play... and for casual play the 8-player wireless should be more than enough in the vast majority of cases.
I'll stick with the Joy-Con grip for now... I'll probably be using the Switch undocked fairly frequently anyway, so I'll probably get used to them in no time. If I do get the pro controller, it won't be any time soon and won't be unless I feel I really need it... I just don't think it warrants the price at the moment.
I don't trust GAME for most things Nintendo-related to begin with... my local stores treat Nintendo stuff terribly... they've been giving it next to no shelf space for years, and usually have it hidden away in the corner where most people wouldn't even notice it. I've also had a couple of friends who've worked there at different times... both commented on how they operate in-store pre-orders... taking the deposits from as many people as possible, while only letting people collect their preorders once released on a first come first served basis, while still offering a certain amount on the shelves... so someone could walk in early enough on release day and buy the item off the shelf, but if you get there too late, then you won't get one even if you preordered.
@Ootfan98 I bought some accessories from Nintendo and they've been dispatched already... and I've received accessories from them early before now as well... but they are very particular about things like games and consoles, only dispatching them the day before in order to ensure they don't arrive before release.
Probably wanting to downplay any similarities to the Wii/WiiU in order to avoid any confusions like they had with the WiiU. Just like how they've focused on the HD rumble rather than the motion controls of the Joy-Cons so far, they also seem to be keeping references to Miis to a minimum as well.
It could also be that their primary function will be for another game that hasn't yet been announced, with these three amiibo set to be released around the time that game is released.
It's also worth noting that all five of the Zelda related Smash Bros. amiibo are also listed, suggesting they will have individual functionality as well... along with a common amiibo entry, suggesting that all other amiibo will just have a generic function.
@SanderEvers Having the functionality of a handheld console does not make it one... Nintendo have repeatedly referred to it as a home console and not once referred to it as a handheld.
@booker_steve As I said, they are bringing a Pokemon game to the Switch... but they clearly don't intend for that to be a main series title. And they have also made it clear that they are continuing to support the 3DS, so they are certainly not putting all of their eggs in one basket.
@booker_steve I don't know why you're assuming that they'll put a 'mainstream' Pokemon game on the Switch... while they have said that there will be a Pokemon game coming to the Switch, they have also said that they want to keep the main series on the handheld consoles... implying that it will be a spin-off or side game coming to the Switch instead.
@Blizzia The only possible fix they could do from what I understand would be to increase the power of the Bluetooth signal, but that would only reduce the issue, not prevent it altogether, and would have the downside of reducing the battery life of the joy-cons, which I'm guessing they'll want to avoid.
Considering how few people are actually reporting the problem, I wouldn't be surprised if there was an environmental factor to blame... it sounds similar to an issue I used to have with my Wii, which ended up being a result of interference from a Blackberry device.
Not all that surprising considering they'd already said it had a battery life of up to 6 hours... the problem is that this is not a practical test... this is basically a test of the maximum battery life, which is pointless... what we really need to know is the minimum battery life.
@YeshaYahu5417 They've said that they're looking into it, but all they'll probably do would be to tell people how to avoid obstructing the bluetooth connection.
Hotspots sounds like a good idea, but my town has next to no decent hotspots I'd be able to use reliably.
@MarcelRguez From what I've read, it seems that the Switch will use the NNID, but will access it (along with other services) via the Nintendo ID (as long as you've linked them).
@SanderEvers Only one profile can log into a Nintendo account on the system at a time, but other profiles will be able to access the assets of that account (download games, etc.) as long as they are logged in.
@manu0 Probably not at the same time... you will likely have to log out of the account on one system in order to log in on another... basically a more streamlined version of the existing account transfer.
@scamander I don't think you can... I think you can have multiple profiles using the same account, and multiple accounts on the same system, but there's no evidence of a single account being used on multiple systems... that seems to be what this very article is saying, seeing as they've already confirmed that digital purchases are tied to the user account, not the system.
Sounds like they're using a similar system to with their other systems... downloaded games locked to a user account, which is locked to one console at a time, and you'd have to transfer the user account over in order to transfer the games over.
They probably can't say because they'll be calling it something else, but haven't settled on the name yet... "Switch Edition" would be the boring option, so I'm hoping they follow Arkham City's example and give it a more interesting name.
This is just speculation based on the packaging... which is pretty vague... enough to get a rough idea, but not the exact details as this article implies.
A few things you can probably add... apparently Smeargle is not yet available (still working on getting Sketch to work) Heracross is the regional exclusive for South America (but also available in Florida, apparently) Corsola is apparently only available in certain locations as well (this seems more vague... seemingly tied to certain latitudes)
@DanteSolablood While the app is working, it is working better, but it will now either freeze or crash altogether around 2-3 times a day.. which was only happening around once a week (at most) before.
Rare Pokemon have always been hard to find in my town, but would still get reports of people finding them at least a few times a week... but there haven't been any since gen 2 went live... only people finding them in eggs, which is the only way most people around here can get rare Pokemon. And travelling to nearby towns would be pointless as they don't have anything different... some things are more or less common, but would be unlikely to find anything that can't be found in my town.
The limit for my town does seem to be higher than yours... I'm basically at the limit with 30-40 gen 2 Pokemon (excluding the pre-existing babies)... probably 40-50 if you include uncommon evolutions I'm slowly collecting the candy/items for.
Everyone's been assuming that the 'divine beasts' referenced in the tapestry are the four giant guardians... but could it actually be that this is one of the divine beasts?
@FiveDigitLP Just to point out... this would be The Pokemon Company's doing, not Nintendo's... TPC may be part owned by Nintendo, but they operate independently the majority of the time.
There have been Pokemon Mega Blocks sets before now (I have one) but they just used standard blocks in an attempt to resemble the Pokemon, rather than having special parts like these do, so they didn't look as good.
While I'm looking forward to the DLC, I also can't help but think about the trade-off... what would the developers have been working on if they weren't working on this?
With more frequent crashes, gyms being ruined by Blissey, and rare Pokemon now being even harder to find, I'm wondering how long it will last this time before people get bored again.
The increased number of Pokemon has messed up spawns so much I seem to have already hit the limit of the number of new Pokemon I can get in my area without some serious luck, and I imagine a lot of others will stop playing once they reach that point as well.
