I'm sure there are a few people who would love this, but there's just not enough to Pac-Man for it to appeal to the vast majority of people. I mean... what would it even consists of? Dots, walls and cherries? Hardly enough there to make it worthwhile. Even if they allowed you to set custom behaviour patterns for the ghosts, that probably wouldn't help much. The only way I can really see it being worthwhile for them would be as a free-to-play smartphone app to get people interested in the franchise ahead of the release of a proper game... a marketing tool.
Of course, there's also the possibility that the idea of it being a stage builder is just a mis-association due to Mario Maker... it may actually be something completely different... maybe Pac-Man will be going to meet his maker in a new game.
Love the Layton games... glad they're returning to the traditional style as well as the smartphone games didn't come close.
I get the feeling it will turn out that Katrielle isn't really his daughter... she looks more like Flora (Layton's adopted daughter) than Hershel, and her ability to talk to animals reminds me of Luke... so perhaps she's really their daughter and merely claims to be Hershel's daughter to attract more business (or to lure out whoever kidnapped him).
This has been going round for the last couple of days... I've seen a few people experimenting with what you can do with it.
There's also another one where you can clip out of the final Beast Ganon fight by dismounting your horse against the boundary... causes a similar situation to this.
I can't help but think that they're missing the real point here... the 2DS and Wii Mini stripped out features to make the console cheaper for younger players, not just reduce the size... the only time they've reduced the size has been a result of technology advancing enough to allow it, and they actually seem more interested in making handhelds larger nowadays so that they are more comfortable to use.
If they were to make a budget version of the Switch for younger players, then I'd expect them to strip out the portability first... removing the screen and batteries would substantially cut the cost of the console, and they would be able to use cheaper non-portable components within the console itself to further cut costs.
Yeah, this isn't new... people have been using magnesis to move the rafts for quite a while now. First time I've seen a mine kart being used though... but it is pretty impractical.
The Switch is more like a home console that can be taken on the go, rather than a portable console that can be plugged into a TV, so 3 hours is plenty... it's more than any other home console. I actually prefer to play in handheld mode even when at home as it frees up the TV for others and I've gotten into the habit of moving from room to room while playing, but I think I've only ever had a problem with a low battery interrupting gameplay once, and that wasn't long after it was released... the rest of the time my play sessions tend to last for under 3 hours anyway.
As for MK8DX... I have the original on Wii U already (two copies, actually, due to a shipping error resulting in me being sent a digital code when my physical copy was delayed) so I was reluctant about getting it again, but it is such a fun game I know I will play it a lot, especially now that I can take it out with me to play with others away from a TV, so I've given in and pre-orderd it.
Not too fussed about ARMS... I think the punching mechanic is promising, but restricting it to fighting is a little unimaginative... if there were other game modes, then I might be more interested.
More interested in Splatoon 2... loved the original, wanted more offline content, but the addition and rebalancing of weapons spoiled the online for me... and I still need to see how well they've done the balancing on this one, as I was busy during the last demo.
Good to see context being taken into consideration with reviews... far too many reviewers rate games in comparison to old games rather than current games... just because a game would have scored higher than another game several years ago does not mean it should score higher than it today.
It's typing doesn't make sense to me if it's name and design inspiration are based on a marshmallow... I still think it might be Mars-shadow... being somehow tied into the cover legendaries.
I can't remember the last time I took down a Guardian in regular combat... I tend to just run up to them and hit them in the eye with an ancient arrow... a shot from that close is pretty hard to miss.
Loved Darksiders 2 on Wii U, having not played either game before, so I was staying hopeful that this would still be released (although wouldn't have minded if it had been moved to the Switch)... will definitely be getting it when it's released.
Been working through these lately... just got the jewellery and Sheik's Mask left to upgrade... there are a few things missing from this list, and it doesn't give an indication of how many you need for each... you will be at it for a while. You can also get Star Fragments from Silver Lynels as well if you're lucky... as well as from a few quests, chests, etc.
I'd rather have sequels instead of ports... any game I'd want I already have on the Wii U, so I don't really see the point of getting it again so soon.
I'd prefer it if they'd just made a right-angle USB-C adapter that could be clipped on to the bottom edge of the Switch... that way I'd be able to use my existing mains adapter or portable USB battery while in tabletop mode... and it would be a hell of a lot cheaper than this.
This guide could be misleading seeing as the fact you don't keep it isn't mentioned until the very end, as that fact makes it somewhat useless for regular use, so it can hardly be considered the best.
@DanteSolablood You're mixing up fad mentality and general popularity... things typically grow in popularity over time until they establish a stable fanbase... it would form a graph with a roughly hyperbolic curve to it's peak followed by a steady decline... spikes in that graph would be the result of fad mentality, which can occur at any point, even at the very start, as was the case with Pokemon. The only reason for there to be such a spike in popularity at the start of a franchise's lifespan would be fad mentality.
Also, just because the TCG has faded from the public spotlight does not mean it's dead... it was one of the most prominent aspects of the fad mentality at the time, but is still going strong within the fanbase. And I never said Gen 2 wasn't in the works, only that the evidence at the time was inconclusive, and that it was a bad idea as it would have needed to be handled carefully... and I stand by that, as I don't think they done a very good job with how they introduced Gen 2, and think the game will suffer in the long term as a result.
With Fast RMX and MK8DX both out by the end of the month, it'll probably be better for them to wait until later in the year... although I think 29th December is probably just a placeholder.
@DanteSolablood The difference between Gen 1 and Gen 2 was closer to ten million... reducing Gen 1 by a few million would still leave it substantially above Gen 2.
Repetitive gameplay is a complaint seen in every franchise, but that does not correlate with a substantial drop in popularity like we saw with Pokemon... and the loss of Pokemon between generations would only have applied to the Gen 3 drop, not the Gen 2 drop.
And "because it was something new and had good word of mouth" is fad mentality in a nutshell! No new game has such a huge peak in popularity without fad mentality being involved... they usually peak at least a few instalments in.
It does sound like you missed the fad mentality of the Pokemon games due to your age... the target audience was primary school age, so that's where the fad mentality would have been most noticeable... I got Pokemon Blue around my 9th birthday, so I was right in the middle of it.
The problem is that this doesn't actually give the scale of the 'open-air' world he's talking about, and it only really refers to the overworld... future games could still have an open-air overworld, but keep that overworld relatively small (in comparison to BotW) to give a larger focus on dungeons... or even have the game divided between multiple worlds, with each being open-air, but still smaller individually. My point is that there's a lot of flexibility within the implications of that statement, so we can't really tell how it will affect future games.
@DanteSolablood Again... I'm not saying it was a fad, only that people treated it as a fad... that doesn't mean it's not still popular, only that some people only liked it initially because it was the popular thing at the time. I don't understand how you could have not experienced that... were you living under a rock?
You just seem to be grasping at straws in a poor attempt to avoid associating Pokémon's initial popularity with fad mentality. The Japanese release of blue would not account for such a vast difference in sales... excluding it would drop the total by only a few million at best. Your Call of Duty example is also nonsense, as they've seen an overall increase over their lifespan... one or two have seen a drop in sales, but that is completely different.
@DanteSolablood What about the DS? That's sold more than any other Nintendo console, but the main Pokémon game pairs on the system still didn't pass the 20million mark. That just goes to prove that console sales do not have that substantial of an impact on the popularity of Pokémon games.
Did you not know people who only liked Pokémon just because it was the current popular thing? I knew loads of them.
@CrazedCavalier I didn't actually say it was a fad... only that it was a fad for some people... they only liked it as a fad, and as it became clear that it wasn't, that view of it faded, so they stopped liking it as a result... hence the drop in popularity.
@CrazedCavalier An average of around 15 million is what is left after the fad... Red and Blue sold over 30 million at the height of the fad, with Gold and Silver selling over 20 million as the fad came to an end... it's a similar pattern to what the chart shows for Pokemon GO.
Sounds like they've nailed what the set out to do and people are criticising them for minor things that they frequently overlook while reviewing other games.
This is actually kind of like the popularity of Pokemon in general, except over a shorter timespan... huge popularity at the start, but nothing more than a fad for most people... wasn't long before the fad faded, leaving only the true fanbase remaining.
It's worth noting that the chart only goes up to the end of 2016... it's doesn't cover the introduction of Gen 2, which did cause the number of regular players to increase again.
Hopefully they don't cancel it altogether, as I was looking forward to getting this on the Switch... but if the price is too high, then I might not get it at all.
Wasn't going to double-dip on it anyway, so I just find this funny. Would be interested to see a comparison with the other console versions as well... see if it's just the Nintendo console that got screwed over with optimisation as usual, or just lazyness on the developer's part in general.

It's worth noting that even when docked, they could have been a bit too forceful with it when removing the joy-cons from the system... they would most likely have been attaching them to charge them, and considering you have to press the button on the back of each joy-con to remove them, this would match the direction of the bend shown.
I find it strange that there's such a big difference between Pokemon Sun and Moon... I'm almost wondering if some places have stopped reporting their sales numbers independently from one another (personally I don't think they should have been counted separately to begin with).
The 20 second kill is certainly not mastery of the game... they've just got all of the most overpowered equipment... it's probably the BotW equivalent of pay-to-win... there's next to no skill involved. I get the feeling this whole thing is just the result of someone misreading 21GB as 7.1GB when they were entering the data for the game into the Switch e-shop... probably due to either poor eyesight, or poor handwriting.
While I have nothing against the game, I don't want to see the Switch receiving smartphone/tablet ports like this... most people have a smartphone nowadays anyway, so there's no need for it. It seems like people are just seeing the Switch as a tablet and using that as an excuse to milk as much money out of their games as possible. It's a poor use of the Switch's potential, and could easily lower people's opinions of the Switch as a result... just like what happened with all of the shovelware on the Wii. Hopefully all of the weapon types will be in this game and balanced from the start in order to avoid a repeat of this.
I doubt Lego City Undercover will get particularly high in the single format chart, seeing as it's a four year old game... multiformat will be better, but still not as good as it could have been if it had been new.
"Official UK Pokemon GO T-Shirt"... really? From a company that doesn't appear to exist outside of Amazon, using stock photos that don't even match... does anyone really think this is official in any way?
I've got an Anker Powercore 20100mAh for my phone (Pokemon GO), but haven't tried it with my Switch yet, as I haven't needed to... at most I've probably used it out of the house for around three hours at a time at most, and the onboard battery lasts more than long enough for that.

I've got an Anker Powercore 20100mAh for my phone (Pokemon GO), but haven't tried it with my Switch yet, as I haven't needed to... at most I've probably used it out of the house for around three hours at a time at most, and the onboard battery lasts more than long enough for that.
