There are no real global rules as to what changes a version number so it is up to the company/team.

The most common way to version is by saying the first number is major update (big feature, compatibility breaking changes, etc), the second is for minor changes like smaller features that are likely to not even break compatibility with lesser versioned software. And then the third number is reserved for bug fixes.

Said that, the difference of what is considered a major or minor change is pretty much opinion of whoever is in charge.

Hacked SW1 is a beast but a weak beast. For SW2 I only want the same but with better hardware, that would be a dream.

And to be honest, guys... Forget WW HD. When we eventually get it, it will be pretty as it was on Wii U. But, guess what. Without Miiverse it won't be the same thing. So, best case scenario we get an watered down version of a game we cannot experience in its full even on original hardware anymore.

I wouldn't complain if it at least seemed to run in a better resolution, but it does look too blury. That is quite subpar, considering that aside from the issues that mostly were solved with time (like the thing with fog in OoT), the NSO games all run pretty well on modern tvs. Try to play Ocarina of Time in actual hardware without upscaller (most tvs do it by themselves nowadays) and you get a experience similar to this GC emulation.

And not an option to say I will just sell it for its correct price and then get a SW2.

In the case images of BotW and TotK it is written that it actually contains the Switch 1 version of the game and a download code for the upgrade, not an actual switch 2 physical edition.

Way to spoil people. I mean, I know that news outlets kinda should report this. But the timming of the announcement is really bad since the movie is pretty new.

Why so many are butthurt about an emulator of an already dead console which has no new games and its storefront is also dead? You guys are aware that many 3DS games are already getting pretty expensive in second-hand market right?

I am not saying I am in favor of piracy, but clearly there is already a supply problem with this, and yes nobody cares if you rip your own games to play on emulators. Pretty cool that it works in VR now.

For instance, my 3ds died, lucky me I already have ripped my games, if it was for some commenters here the only fair way of playing would be buying another 3ds, as if citra would really hurt Nintendo now.

Oh, right. The free content for everyone that bought the DLC. Guess it is a reason less to return to the game.

Hope we actually get a follow up to Arceus after this.

If it doesn't might as well consider this Wii U 2 since it will give too little reasons to upgrade since a lot of people already have too much to play on switch anyway.

Literally all competition have BC now, it would simply be a d*** move. Also consider that the biggest reason we didn't get BC with 3DS was change of form factory which I can understand.

If they don't do BC might as well get a steam deck and start emulating switch instead of upgrading.

And I hear about this with less than half a year to launch my first game...

At least I don't expect $200k levels of success so soon... And I was considering moving to unreal on the next, welp, not much of an option now.

Am I the only one bothered by the fact that they talk about being forced to have only 7 powers because lore and all... And then we remember sonic's "canon" lore is a big mess and chaos emerals never had any elemental afinity or special unique powers to begin with. I mean, I didn't watch xeno 3 video because I know he will spoil, but still... Everyone knows he hates JRPG, he clearly only plays them to make videos for the lols. Sometimes he does have valid criticism to them, but mostly he is just bashing for fun. Of course he understands that xeno 2 was not a cash grab, nobody with half a brain would think that, that was a joke like 99% of his content. I believe the only seriousish videos are the dunkviews and even so not so sure. For instance he reviewed both let's go eevee and pikachu in separate videos and gave opposite notes just because as if they were completely different games.

Said that, the spoiler on twitter was a d*** move, not gonna lie.

My only problem with Nintendo Directs is that they are really not that often. And sometimes having an entire direct of 30 minutes for a single game could a little too much...
Said that, I feel peace in my heard hearing Sakurai explain with that much love and care about a single character for 30 mins, so I might be hypocritical.

I could not disagree more with a review. I mean, the game does deliver what it sets out to be. It is not a perfect game, of course, but I wouldn't say it is 4/10 bad. .____.
For me it feels like the person reviewing simply is not into this type of game.

When demos are takem down because they make people lose interest in buying. Yeah, it is pretty bad.

You can't put in the same category with some hungry indies doing bad because they don't know better, this is not a simple crap, it is the holy crap.
When a studio like Square Enix puts this money on such a director, yeah, they expected a new beefy franchise, so all things considered this could be seem as one of the worst.

Seriously though, if Kojima didn't break up with Konami this would eventually happen in a metal gear, eventually.

I mean, guys, let's be honest, would that make any sense? Like one thing is expecting nintendo or aony to have a similar service, but asking them to open their legs to Microsoft and allowing people to free of charge access game pass in their platforms, that's weird. That's the same as asking why Microsoft doesn't have steam in xbox, it is technically custom windows PC.

@RunGMhx The content someone plays in OLED is irrelevant, the image will be improved because the pixels will have true black adjusting brightness. The best example I can give is when you open Netflix in an OLED TV, you don't even need to start something to be amazed. When you see the red netflix logo in the middle of a totally black screen you will see how the "true black" makes an absurd contrast.

I actually liked having these kinds of utilitary apps on 3DS. But then again today even the cheap phones are quite confortable to use and packed with all these features, so I cannot see the use for these anymore.

Granted, that doesn't mean I wouldn't want some more non-gaming apps in Switch, like Netflix. =/

The ranking of the entirety of Battle Network makes this list questionable. I can only assume most didn't play them.
I mean, I can accept people prefer Mega as a platformer, but please let's be honest, people put the entirety of BN and Star Force under some of the worst platformer mega man, like, really, the same games everyone says they suck are above some of the beloved BN, wtf...

O couldn't care much for minecraft but this one does sound unique as hell, and that is what I like about new smash character. Way better than byleth which didn't add anything impressive to the game.

@Jokerwolf Funny enough, big companies that have plenty of money still do it. Maybe just maybe it is because it is worth it, considering their specific situations that might or not apply to some random indie dev. Also, getting a loan still means you have to pay back, if it flops you flop.

Just to be clear, I am not defending Dangen. I am 100% in the side of the dev on this. But this doesn't mean publishers are always wrong.

Picture this... You are totally unknown, you know how to code and/or design and/or have a bro that can help you with the other.
You decide to make a game, no reason to think it will succed, but still you try. Bills don't go anywhere so you might need sponsorship (maybe a spouse or your parents) or you may do it on your free time and risk a burnout with NO GUARANTEE of profit.
And do all that while sometimes enduring people telling you it isn't worth it, or why don't you get a real job.
And then comes a random dude that tells you he believes in you and offer you like 30k + a big part if not the bigger of the profit. And that 30k is not a loan, it is a payment, if the game doesn't sell, well, bad luck, but you don't owe anyone anything.
The guy will also handle selling and marketing so you don't even have to understand that, and the dude has already many succesful projects under his belt. You know that without him your 100% profit might be way smaller than his % offer.
There are many reasons even big companies go to publishers, but one way or another not all publishers are evil. And even the same publisher might have an different contract with different devs. Some might even let you have all rights of franchise.

Classic snob old man. I will say it how many times it is needed. If it wasn't by the games he wouldn't even be known by now and we wouldn't have the netflix series. Before the games he was popular in the inner circles of underground in eastern europe which is already underground by itself. Won't argue the quality of his work, but if he thinks it sells on itself in any way, he is mistaken.
