@Anri02 I don't know if you don't know or if you don't think it is enough. But I kinda only know Boktai because of Battle Network, there are many references to Boktai and I don't know exactly how but I read once that the games had some link cable connection or something.
@GrandScribe Well, technically capcom has talked about Battle Network in the near past. I guess we could at least expect an collection from that as even freaking ZX got that. So... Maybe BN Collection could remind people that Boktai was a thing back in the day... =/ Just like smash introduced many to earthbound and fire emblem.
@X68000 I don't think that changes anything as this is a game most nintendo fans will show their kids anyway. And if they don't the kids will hear about it from other fans eventually like when people talk about the SNES lineup of the nintendo online.
@oji Thought about the EA thing. But this have the advantage of using already built in tech instead of selling movement sensors for a console that already had them. The whole EA thing was stupid by definition.
I find it funny how many people think themselves as superiors for knowing him. I knew him only by image because I couldn't care less for fatal fury or kof. And still I do take my smash and gaming as serious as most here. I was born in time for arcades, but didn't care for "my time" fighters.
Am I the only one who simply hated the service and believes it sucked big dinossaur balls? I won't miss having to waste my time connecting my DS/3DS to some online system with login validation and etc.
Some of us may not like Netflix Originals because yes or no or whatever, some of us might like them because different reasons. But I think we can all agree that @Haxxor seems like an idiot.
Time to over-analyze stuff... "There are no plans, or nothing to announce, in terms of further variations of Joy-Con." I believe the correct way would be "There are no plans, or anything to announce...". ERGO, double-negative. He is saying there is something to announce. Buckle up and prepare your tin-foil hats we will have D-Paded Joy-cons.
@retro_player_22 Does piracy count on this fight? Because on the golden days around here in brazil piracy was ungodly strong and we had lots of a bunch in one catridges on GBC and GBA. On PC it was a whole another level with CDs with 100s of old games.
This was so obvious that if I am not mistaken they also have the same animations and sound. I noticed as much being someone that never owned Nintendogs, just did the demo a try once or twice.
@Heavyarms55 While I do agree with the requests for more TCG-based games. Don't need to be salty about the app, if you think like that, everything you do on the computer, or any similar technology for that matter (including game consoles) is just a glorified version of something you could do with pen and paper.
I actually believe Mewtwo is hairless not in a weird anime kind, more like the even weirder Sphinx cat that in real life doesn't have hair. Still all his arts look awesome even with extra fur.
@beazlen1 You are partially correct. Nintendo does own DK in itself but Rare did have partial ownership of the DK Country games and DK 64 because of original Rare's characters. I don't know specifically which characters, maybe King K. Roll and other villains in itself, that would also explain why no monster or villain from the first games returned to the Country Returns. If I am correct that could also mean King K Roll only came to smash on a deal with Microsoft.
If you did take some attention in the past you would have seen that DK Country VC releases where always a little weird. They once all disappeared for a long time from Wii U and 3DS eshops, most likely because of licensing issues or contract expiration. After a while they returned. You should also remember how big of a deal was made when DK 64 launched on Wii U's VC, for the same reason, everyone knew that for that launch to happen they did talk with Microsoft.
@Audigore0733 The fact that Yoka Laylee was sold solely on the idea of being a spiritual sucessor to Banjo Kazooie already proves you are totaly wrong.
Also, Banjo Kazooie in the hands of microsoft is basically a dead franchise, it wouldn't be so absurd for them to put it on smash (as MS' executive already stated that they would accept) and the idea of a remake of such skiping switch would be quite a money loss. In the worst case scenario they would make Xbox and PC exclusive. Anyway, what makes it sound not so impossible to launch on switch is that we did eventually get all DK Country on Switch, even the 64, for all that matters nintendo did make a deal with MS for them to launch.
@ilikeike Too risky! Think of the people with heart conditions! Some would not survive such a level of awesomeness.
Now being seriously, a remake of Banjo Kazooie is something I didn't even think I needed until now. And we will never see that. Well, at least if microsoft does it and obviously it is exclusive to them we can bet they will also release for PC as MS doesn't do console-exclusives anymore.
When I read the title "first look" I was the kind of fool to actually expect a gameplay trailer. Well, if Pokémon is any sample of Niantic's quality I believe this game should be avoided for at least a year, maybe two. That's the time they need between launch and the update that actually brings fun to the game.
I think most people seem to have lost the actual situation. This is not about Nintendo's profit or even amazon's. It is about amazon taking less profit to guarantee its dominance on the market and possibly kill competitors. Nintendo is just reassuring other retailers that this won't happen. Amazon is kinda evil, no surprises. In this situation Nintendo are actually the good guys, protecting the smaller businesses which cannot play on amazon's terms.
@ThanosReXXX I actually don't use it that much since I got my Switch. I am mostly trying to end all games I have on it and getting all that I still want to just let it go for good. But Nintendo doesn't look like they want me to do that. LOL
Still, will totaly try the VB emulator when the promised day comes even if it is way after 3DS' death.
I also have trouble having time to all games. Too much to do with work and all and there are too many games launching all the time. Steam, PS4 and Switch. Just too much.
@ThanosReXXX Well, I don't do piracy (I know most around here don't see the diference) beyond emulation on homebrews (only if there is no fair way of getting the game like virtual console). Never got banned, my 3DS is probably the console in which I bought more classic titles and have another ton of 3DS titles in itself. But even tough I paid for let's say play Earthbound it was nice to also be able to run Earthbound's Halloween Mod on the same system (the spiritual pre-quel to undertale from Toby Fox before he gone indie).
@MagnaRoader Right. I meant actually that they already had the perfect chance and didn't do it. So I am not so positive of ever seeing a re-release of VB content. Even more now that we barely know if the online service will give us more than some NES games.
@ThanosReXXX Oh and by the way I just googled and it seems there is an VB emulator being made as a 3DS homebrew. I did see people talking about this being developed on posts from this year so it is most likely still in the works.
@ThanosReXXX Fair point. I didn't know that because I never saw anything on Virtual Boy. Still there is the problem that selling these titles like SNES even if complexity of experience is similar would be way harder as Virtual Boy is THE recognized failure from Nintendo. Not even Wii U is talked on the same tone. Most likely this is the reason they didn't do it, with bundles or standalone, none change the stigma carried by the name virtual boy.
@ThanosReXXX I don't think so for the same reason I believe they did this with G&W. Not as popular with current-gen gamers. If standalone VC for G&W and VB was a thing then most gamers would most probably only buy one to try. Get pissed that the eshop doesn't have refund policy and never give a chance for the rest of them. At least game boy games were played by most of the older gamers who now have a 3DS.
@ThanosReXXX As there aren't many they could have even gone for an entire collection of all the games in a single or some releases like the G&W Collections.
Am I the only one that was actually expecting something like this as an emulator for the 3DS' homebrew scene? As I see the virtual boy is not so diferent from a paralax 3D screen on user experience. Correct me if I am wrong, but the virtual doesn't actually use movement tracking or something similar they had at the time right?
@roy130390 I for one am adept of the idea everyone should "respect" the director's idea for the game and at least play it on normal. But well, we all know most people don't actually care, so good for them.
<SPOILERS>
One thing I think would be good is giving the easy mode a faster route. Like in Mega Man X8 there is already an easy mode. Doing the easy mode will end the game before the final fight. For a "casual" gamer this might be enough because defeating Sigma will most likely feel like the end fight. But for any gamer interested discovering there is more will give a good motivation for gitting gud and going back to normal or hard and seeing the entire thing.
</SPOILERS>
I only hope we don't get the bulls*** of having exclusive unlockables from easy mode. Hate when they do that, some Devil May Cry do that, Mega Man Zero Collection did that. That gives a bad taste for a completionist. If I want to unlock everything I need to do the easy mode, if I do the normal/hard first, doing the easy mode will be even more painful for the boredom, but doing the easy mode first might spoil some surprises and the actual feel of experiencing first on normal/hard.
@GamingDude800 Well. All people care here is overrated longevity. The fact is, eventually every server will go down. Then the only way of keep having total and full access to virtual consoles, nintendo online services and any other non-physical stuff will end up being console hacking, and with that there are no actual limits. Virtual console still needs internet to be downloaded, so it has no actual longevity for anyone looking to play around in a Switch after many years it is dead. One way or another. How many times do you play your virtual consoles? I bought a lot of them and most of them I only played to completion once. I couldn't care less if I lost most of them afterwards, which won't happen with the subscription before the switch in itself is an old useless piece of hardware. When they do kill the switch I won't care, I will have the brand new whatever thing that we got after it. Like nobody cared when they shut down Demon's Souls servers, or Wii servers, and even the original Xbox servers. Their times were due anyway.
@GamingDude800 Your opinion. I have over 100 games on PS Plus. With about 5 of them with their current prices it is already worth more than what it costed me to have PS Plus all these years. If you want to pay 10 dolars each for an old game already ported and easily emulated by any machine in the planet, ok, good for you. I have no problem paying only 25 a year to have way more games and services. Also, the fact that we will have to pay to keep having access to such titles will give reasons for nintendo to keep updating the list with more games than we had on virtual console. Games as a service is good for everyone, stop being butthurt and pretending your desire for a release that will let you spend a lot on little is "smart"...
I don't understand why people are hating on this. Once the servers go offline no one will be able to redownload any virtual console for their Wii Us and 3DS'... Also, with this they can keep on porting classic games libraries to next consoles without having to charge us each time. It sounded bad at the Wii U's early days when we discovered we had to pay to transfer VC from Wii to Wii U, but, guess what, it does cost them some money to port the virtual console software from one console to the other... Also, people saying that this is locking the games in subscription and that is evil, remember we will need the subscription for other stuff like going online (not that this is a good thing) and the library in itself will increase over time, possibly faster than VC to make sure it is worth it. Also I have to say that as a PS Plus user I would never dream of cancelling my PS Plus because of how huge my games with plus library is, it simply is worth it, and nintendo's is way cheaper so it is even easier for them to give us content to make it worth it.
I believe we are reading a lot in little text. As he is quite aware, it is nintendo's decision to make or not a new smash. I believe that what he actually means is that the game looks too big. People might complain about this or that character being broken, but Sakurai always stated how seriously they take the balancing even if they don't always get it right. I only believe he doesn't believe he could handle another smash with so many characters, and well, we don't know how big are the other contents, if we have new cool modes like subspace emissary or Smash Run.
But, the biggest problem might lie in that a lot of the characters were from older games, so while it might be not as hard to update characters from more recent games, they might not be able to bring as many "new" on next iterations.
As many have already said, I would be ok with this game being ported over with a couple of extras from console to console.
