Sure, we might be eagerly waiting for Nintendo to give us the next proper update about the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but there's still plenty to discover in the original 2017 Wii U and Switch release.
Following on from a glitch that makes Link invincible and allows him to walk underwater, a "simple glitch" has now been uncovered - allowing you to play the open-world entry from a first-person perspective. This finding was made by Zelda fan and Twitter user Axk_000, transforming the title into something that looks more like a scene out of The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim.
Activating this glitch isn't all that complicated and no modifications to the game or system are required. As you can see above, all you need to do is pull out the in-game camera while holding an item and then cancelling it. After this, your camera should be set to first-person. You'll even be able to see Link's shadow up close and walk about.
If you would like to try out this glitch yourself, we suggest you do it sooner rather than later before Nintendo potentially patches it out in a future game update. Is this the Breath of the Wild glitch you've been waiting for? Would you be up for a Zelda game from a first-person perspective? Share your thoughts down below.

Ha! This is dope! I just started my second play through on Master Mode about a week ago. I wanted a quick recap of the game before BOTW2 comes out. Can’t wait to try this out when I get home!
Checking the comments for a mere 20 seconds gives you the realization that you can't do much of anything while in 1st person.
I wanna see how this works regarding backflips, and bullet time bounces and boomy zoomies. Especially if I had VR like @Palom suggests
For me, taking link out of the view removes some of the magic. Interesting to see that, though.
I tried it out, didn't work hahaha
This is pretty crazy awesome! I hope it doesn’t get patched out
I'm not that into first person perspective games (with the notable exception of the Metroid Prime series). I prefer playing Skyrim in the 3rd person perspective.
"Play" is a strong word for walking around and doing nothing more.
Nintendo won't patch it out. BOTW itself was designed in mind with leaving the glitches that didn't hinder or destroy the game alone. Effectively, stuff like the minecart glitch were left in, while huge game breaking bugs were taken out.
I’m trying but I’m unable to replicate this :/
I doubt they’re going to release anymore updates for this game.
@DeathUriel thought the same
@TheGoddesseshero I feel like they'd be too afraid of accidentally messing with the physics engine to even attempt any sort of fix.
Would not want to play a Zelda in first person tbh. But interesting nonetheless
@Ocaz same here, was hoping you could combat and play as normal. But that would be too good.
@SilenceCZ that's because the article is incorrect. The way you do the glitch is much more complicated than the article says.
This article isn't correct, the way the glitch is performed is more complicated than what the clip shows. There's more steps to the glitch.
@Edu23XWiiU that's because the article is incorrect, the glitch has steps that the clip didn't show.
@DunkoDude Yeah, who wrote it? Hahaha
@DunkoDude How is glitch done? I'm interested in trying it out, but some glitches are a pain
@Zeldinion not even the 2 tweets that are supposed to show you give you enough information. Unless I learn Japanese, I won't be able to do the glitch. I don't know how to do it but it involves having multiple glitches prepared aswell.
This article only covers half the glitch, the setup is actually kind of complicated.
Thought point crow already did this
Okay firstly there are so many things wrong with this article. This is in no simple or easy way. It takes a semi-complicated set up and percise timing. Secondly the supposed set up is only after the glitch has been set up initially. You can not preform combat or anything of the sort other than using your bow, i think weapon throws and parrying/blocking. If anyone would like to do it themself this works. This is the general idea breaking it down;
1)get your horse to the ruins close to the central tower and when there spawn the master cycle (like the vid)
2)Do the bow menu overload glitch (hold a multi-shot bow with electric arrows pause then drop it, without unpausing equip another then unpause. Repeat until link is just a floating head)
3)Hold item glitch (hold item while menu is overloaded). When held the item should not appear in the over world, pick up your bows, put a shield on and go to your horse.
4)You have to angle your horse on the ledge of the stairs so it has its head tilted down and rear legs up a bit. (The front of your horses rear feet should be slightly hanging off the front of the ledge you use)
This step will take time and i suggest using the easy method at first
5)Align yourself using the Scope. Quickly pull out then put away the scope (can be kept on to make it easier) and shield surf off, if link doesn't skew try again. If link does skew keep an eye on his feet slowing it down using the shield menu (d-pad left)
6)As he skews keep an eye on links body. When he is parallel to the ground (or sideways) and about to end the shield surf, unequip the shield quickly before he lands and immediately pause(+) after unequipping the shield
7) See if link is invisible before holding an item by quickly buffering (using - then + very quickly to change frames) if he is invisible then hold 1 item (while hold glitch is still active). Once held unpause.
8)When you unpause link should land on his feet and appear invisible (if not try again) until you throw your held items in to fuel the master cycle, if done correctly link will reappear when the master cycle is fueled.
Here's where you know if you messed up or not.
9)When you pause (+) hold an item then drop it. It should fall in an odd way or float down (if not start over 🙃)
10)When dropped Link will appear to have the item hold circle or white circle still (and if not start over)
11)Now do the shield camera glitch (if you don't know how to do it you have to hold ZL and activate the camera rune while crouching (click left Thumb Stick) and pressing X at the same time. If done correctly link will be seen but the camera screen will be active
12)Now pause (+) and hold one last item of the same type. When you unpause you will be in First Person or FP
13) After you are in FP pause again and then do an item hold cancel and there you are. Enjoy BOTW as Link himself
Be careful though you can be knocked out of this mode, to reactivate it just hold item, camera glitch, pause, hold item, unpause and that should do it just do the item hold cancel again. Can't jump, sprint, or fight
@Zeldinion i just commented the steps if you want to give it a try
@BruhofTheWild i can clarify some things if anyone has questions
@SilenceCZ there's a bunch of steps to it. I just commented the steps if you want to try it out
@Edu23XWiiU there's more steps that the article doesn't cover. I just posted them if you still want to replicate this glitch
@CartuneCartune you can't really do anything except use the bow, i think weapon throw and use the shield which kinda sucks but it's still a nice find
@BruhofTheWild Thanks mate, GameSpot also has a video now. Is the master cycle zero required? I don't have it yet
@Zeldinion unfortunately yes you do need it, somehow fueling it from that invisible state is what turns on the FP glitch. Fueling it as nornal turns it off so the cycle is basically a big on/off switch
@BruhofTheWild thanks man! I'll give it a shot when I'm on work break!
