Much like the NES and SNES Mini before it, the dinky Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros. is sure to be a collector's item and hard to get your hands on in the future. Naughty scalpers are sure to have a field day with this one!
Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros. arrives in stores on November 13th and it includes the following retro-tastic Mario games (and a clock!):
- Super Mario Bros.
- Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels
- Ball (Mario version)
- A digital clock

Buy Game & Watch Super Mario Bros. In The UK
At the time of writing, UK readers have their pick of places to order from. The official Nintendo Store UK has the unit £5 cheaper than the competition, except for ShopTo which shaves fourteen pennies off Nintendo's price and is currently the best deal available.
Buy Game & Watch Super Mario Bros. In The US
Stock has been impossible to pre-order in the US, although some stores are now starting to show the Game & Watch as being in-stock and ready to add to your cart. The following product pages are now live, so keep trying and good luck!
Import Game & Watch Super Mario Bros.
On the import front, stock is sold out at the official Nintendo site in Japan and Play Asia, too. The official Nintendo option only ships to residents of Japan anyway, but with Play Asia apparently sold out of its allocation, it looks like US residents will have to sit tight for the time being.
We're keeping on the lookout for more G&W Super Mario Bros. pre-orders, so watch this space!

Definitely getting this. Why..? Why not!
What a guide... not a single link for english speaking users...
Anyone else notice the screen tearing on this in the OFFFICIAL video for it?
Hope some Swedish retailers sells this, as well as the 3D collection. Otherwise it will be expensive.
@Rika_Yoshitake "Western pre-orders have not yet opened, be sure to bookmark this page so you can be the first in line when they do!"
I’m all over this. Even though it’s pointless and I have other better ways to play those games
@Clammy It's because it's a game & watch, it doesn't have a fancy screen.
Nervous to miss out on this one.
I would really like to get this, but scalpers are the worst and I refuse to shell out to make some one else a quick buck
@Rika_Yoshitake Here's the thing... and it's quite a radical idea, but... articles can be updated.
@Stocksy Tell me about it! I have like three or four versions of Super Mario Bros. already and still I must have this. 😅
Hmm spoke with a friend that has contacts with few EU game distributors (games overall, not only Nintendo) and... I feel mixed.
In Japan the pre-order are around 40 euro, msrp from what he heard for EU is 49.99 euro.
It is just 10 euro more but still, there is no reason for that I think.
Getting this! Reasons:
1) FOMO
2) Nostalgia
3) It's Super Mario running on a Game & Watch!!!
My new alarm clock! Assuming it does that of course...
I NEED this! I've always wanted to have any G&W of sorts. When I saw it had the lost levels it convinced me.
Hoping it will be steadily available on the preorder window.
I love Game & Watch.
Have 15 titles in total.
I hope that I can get this too!
It’s amazing!
5478 yen converts to about £39 currently. I can justify that.
@Rayquaza2510 Import Duty, VAT and shipping
The Dutch webshop of nedgame (www.nedgame.nl) has it as pre-order. (I already pre-ordered mine)
edit: already sold out.
@Clammy That was from screen capture of an NES with a CRT filter. there wasnt any tearing on the actual hardware since they never showed footage of a real game and watch turning on
Live on the official Uk store: https://store.nintendo.co.uk/nintendo-merch-accessories/game-watch-super-mario-bros./12690781.html
Go go go!
@dazza Why disable comments in the pre-order shopping article? You afraid people will link to other stores in the comments and cut you guys out?
@ConsumerOfDucks :
Why would they purposefully show a game which was badly scaled with tearing, if final product looks better?
Meh. I’ll pass. Not like I haven’t played Mario to death over years anyhow
Any idea if this can be pre-ordered in Germany?
It’s available on Nintendo store UK to any brits as I’ve just pre ordered mine.
Damn you Nintendo, spent £100 I wasn’t expecting today! (This and Mario 3D all stars 😶)
The usual Nintendo chaos. Manufacture enough so everyone can purchase one without having to pre-order as soon as the announcement is made.
Currently watching a placing your order screen and a spinning loading circle... said it would take up to thirty seconds five minutes ago!
Ordered. Can’t wait now 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Why did Nintendo describe the third game as a special Mario version of Ball? Is it not just Mario the Juggler?
Ordered... damn you Nintendo!!! (I love you really 😊 )
Mine kept spinning and I gave up and went back in again and it went through fine . I actually thought they would charge more for this so I’m ok with the price . It’s not essential by any means but it looks quite cute
The US page - in case you need something to refresh every few seconds https://gameandwatch.nintendo.com/
@Stocksy true but it’s Nintendo hardware and cute small - very hard to resist .
@Kilamanjaro They say that it will be sold by local retailers... "Informationen zur Verfügbarkeit erhältst du im teilnehmenden örtlichen Einzelhandel." Hopefully we don't have to go through the Nintendo site.
@vnizzz whats your guess on when it will be available for US
@TedThread wait what?! I have been refreshing, how did I miss it?
Jesus...
Edit: are you sure? How could everyone else on here miss it too?
@flummerfelt yeah I've been looking at a few sources for a US link and have not seen any yet
According to the US site: This device has not been authorized as required by the rules of the Federal Communications Commission.
This device is not, and may not be, offered for sale or lease, or sold or leased, until authorization is obtained.
@cLock1358 Yeah that’s what I’m thinking too. Can’t have gone live yet. I have been following this way too closely lol
@flummerfelt I wish you good luck in this hunt my friend! I hope you can beat those awful scalpers
@flummerfelt Yea sorry to disappoint but people really wanted a re release of Battletoads on an NES cartridge for a long time. I knew this was gonna happen. Better luck next time.
Preordered from UK Nintendo Store!
nah, I don’t think it’s true - preorders in the US haven’t started yet
@TedThread I'm pretty sure it wasn't available for preorder in the US, because the website still says preorders aren't available yet, and I haven't gotten a notification from Best Buy that it was available for preorder. I signed up for notifications for it on Best Buy.
@TedThread why would someone go on the internet just to lie?
@gameandwatchbros retail notifications tend to lag a lot, so if I was you I wouldn’t rely on it to be honest
@vnizzz better than nothing though
@Buttmunch if youre able to get your hands on a copy of the battletoads re release more power to you but im pretty sure it sold out
@gameandwatchbros true that
No American offering?
@Clammy The original Mario bros is indeed rereleased to death and it aged way worse than other nes mario games and mario 64. The only appeal is the fact how it runs on a game and watch. I'll only consider it if hackers are able to inject nes roms
Pre-Ordered. Too cute and price is OK. I loved the B/W lcd one's when I was a kid.
@spirit_flame you in US?
Includes USB cable; hackers already figured out how to make this into a fully functioning NES emulator
@buttmunch No, UK
@spirit_flame lucky lol
@r1chard I wouldn't be surprised
If this doesn't have a "35TH" on it, you all know what this means right? it means the only things nintendo prepared for the actual anniversary are the 3d portings and the modded tetris 99.
Th game & watch was likely to come out anyway as the next "classic mini".
Very pissed right now.
@Rika_Yoshitake it's in English on the Nintendo store.
@teo_o Oh wow man, you must be so pissed right now.
i think i've given up waiting for today lol
@YANDMAN it sounds childish ain't it? i know, but nintendo isn't putting any effort in making this an actual celebration of an anniversary. it's just easy money for them.
@buttmunch First time I'm buying something like this. I was expecting it to be sold out. Long wait till November though.
Really hope the screen is alright on this, worst thing these games could have is delay
@Tourtus I'm hoping it has an alarm clock too. The clock is actually the main reason I'm going to buy it.
I'm very strange, why was this my favorite announcement in this direct.
I'm already turned off by the scalpers for the 3D all stars.
Money down. Enough said.
And the other countries of europe?
@TedThread Where?
@JayJ , That other guy is trolling you. He was trying to mess with us earlier also.
Kind of lame, especially for those of us who have been trying to preorder all day long.
I still am checking occasionally, I’ll post here if I see it
Still not up for US, huh? I grew up with LCD games, so I'd love to get this.
I'm tempted to buy this just to resell it at a profit later. Does that make me a scumbag? I feel guilty but at the same time this thing has "easy money" written all over it.
This should have been the scale of the Game Gear Micro... renamed to Game Gear Mini and packed with 40 games.
@sketchturner yes you'd be a scum bag. Especially if you waste time refreshing the page and order a lot of them to resell. If your buying just one to resell there's better things you could do with your time imo.
This is taking so long why is the US pre order so late
Just preordered from EBgames. $80 isn’t too bad. Keeping my fingers crossed the quality is as good as the S/NES minis.
This will sit nicely alongside my first ever game, Mario’s Cement Factory.
Got one from Nintendo UK
I’ve been waiting forever whats taking so long FCC
Nah. You can get these games for far cheaper on the 3DS, which can do everything else the Game and Watch can do but better.
Actually I'd like to beat the scalpers literally, preferably with a spiked club.
I keep seeing comments like "omg scalpers" but the pre-order button for the UK store is still up. Plus, Super Mario 3D All Stars has been up for several hours in the US now, and Amazon and Best Buy still have their pre-order buttons available. Either they're not restricting their pre-orders like they're supposed to in limited runs, or Nintendo made more than we thought (haha, yeah right).
Edit: Or a third option, scalpers don't care about either product. Is that actually possible?
Nice...but it would have been much nicer if there were more games on it.
two games? what is this garbage? You can download this stuff for free.
@flummerfelt Thanks!
It's available on Amazon France https://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B08GZ3DRLW/
@Rik67 I bought my Switch from them, but they won't ship the game & watch to Sweden.
😆 what a joke! Just get a GB Boy Colour with an EZ Flash Jr. and you're good to go. This kind of junk is made for sitting on the shelf of some fat youtube videogame virgin
@Strumpan You could try here also https://jeux-video.fnac.com/a13568545/Game-et-Watch-Super-Mario-Bros-System-Jeu-Nintendo-Switch
I think they deliver anywhere in Europe.
@Rik67 Thanks a lot, it actually worked! I'm not sure how difficult it will be to find this in Sweden eventually, but better safe than sorry. Merci!
@Olliemar28 because people are stupid enough cuz NOSTALGIA where did the nes mini and SNES mini end up?
shelf
@Gridatttack it will end up on the shelf nostalgia is a nice coffee drug
@flummerfelt yeah he's a troll. But please keep us posted too buddy
@Strumpan @Strumpan thanks a bunch. I found their product page and will have it here for anyone else interested https://www.nintendo.de/Diverses/Game-Watch-Super-Mario-Bros-/Game-Watch-Super-Mario-Bros--1827867.html
@Papichulo Ah, you misunderstood this as something you buy in order to play Super Mario on the go. This is intended as a collector's item, so your second statement is kind of correct.
I used the Japanese Nintendo Shop as soon as I saw the direct and they charged my card when I bought it so I’m pretty sure I’m not in any lottery?
45 quid......lol. No.
@SapphireBlaze @Dazza
The 'lottery' mentioned is their way of rationing Switch consoles, nothing related to the Game & Watch. Might've just been mentioned on a page about the website being under too much load (probably that situation is usually created by lots of people trying to enter a Switch lottery).
@Strumpan I feel you!
I hope spelbutiken will pick this up
@bluesun yeah, I’m pretty sure that is the case. They love having lotteries to buy things in Japan, aha.
@NintendoPok
Under the telly and played with every day?
@Vic_Atreides Agreed, but now I have the French preorder in, so personally I'm good.
@teo_o looks like quite a lot of effort to me. I mean I'm not really sure what it is that you expect? Pretty much bigger than any other single franchise or company celebration I've seen before.
@YANDMAN the only things nintendo actually prepared for the 35th are the Tetris 99 mod and the 3D ports, which apparently don't include Galaxy 2 (which would've meant you had 4 games in a bundle of 60 bucks and not three). Honestly I expected mario 64 to be redone with odissey's engine, but I understand that was just my fantasy after seeing the good job they did on link's awakening. Than apparently a random guy on the planet found a way to implement 16:9 in the PC port of mario 64 and nintendo couldn't (or they could, but it would've taken more time and money, and that's my problem with their attitude). Then sunshine and galaxy apparently are both wide-screen and run at full resolution, and that's actually fine, but you would agree it's the bare minimum. Dunno I at least expected a limited edition version with a CD audio, but I guess it costs less to implement they player inside the game for everyone. From what I can tell the rest of the announcements would've come out anyway, 35th or not. A bit lacking from what I was expecting. No further imbellishments, no phisycal goodies in the boxed version, at least that I know of.
@deafdood and now it’s sold out on Nintendo UK after less than 24 hours
@dazzlerJJD But it was still up for hours before it sold out; it didn't sell out in literal seconds like some things have in the past.
I just want this to sit on my desk so I can pick it up and play five minutes of Super Mario Bros. and put it down.
I have a couple of those miniature arcade cabinets: Joust and Frogger, so I already know that this is exactly what I would do with it. And it's kinda nice.
Oh look, it's the only console launching in 2020 for which we know the price and release date!
@teo_o why does it matter if the stuff being released was prepared from the start of not, its still being released, the 35th anniversary is just a nice little event to release it under, some of it might of been made thinking about the anniversary or not, but it doesnt matter. This couldve easily been another allstars on wii disc situation or just a simple acknowledgement by nintendo. The anniversary didnt make the products worse or better, it might of just moved stuff that wouldve been released earlier or later anyways. The only thing the anniversary did was made nintendo possibly released stuff that they wouldnt otherwise, which was probably just the 35 battle royale and game and watch. And they rebranded and changed the released date on the other stuff to fit the anniversary, but why does it matter. I understand if you dont like the products theyre putting out but its seems like youre more upset because nintendo isn’t respecting the anniversary enough or because the products werent obviously made just for the the anniversary, its still mario and its still being released
Thanx for updating this list. I need one of those 😂
@Clammy Yo... Have you ever played a retro console? Screen tearing was the ONLY way to play NES/SNES. You would have been one dissatisfied videophile in my childhood.
I wonder if this is what what we’re waiting on. Saw it at the bottom of the official site:
“This device has not been authorized as required by the rules of the Federal Communications Commission.
This device is not, and may not be, offered for sale or lease, or sold or leased, until authorization is obtained.”
@teo_o I mean, they also prepared a theme park that was meant to open its gate this year, they prepared a Paper Mario game, the 3D World rerelease, and a blowout of partnerships including an interactive LEGO NES. This was supposed to be one hell of an E3. Honestly, I can see how you can be disappointed, there's bound to be at least one person dissatisfied.
But like, of course this is a "cash grab." They are a company. If they weren't making cash grabs they'd have disbanded as a brand long ago.
They have successfully grabbed my cash.
@Nookingtons I agree. The wait is so zzzzzz
@Chlocean : I grew up playing Mario on nes.
Look at the video, watch the bushes, it’s not using integer scaling. Some of the pixels are perfect 1:1, some are missing, etc etc.
Mario didn’t have screen tearing it was frame rate locked.
Mario world did have tearing and slowdown on the NTSC version, but not on the pal version (which I grew up with, but then that ran at a lower frame rate)
Is this available anywhere to the Nordics?
Amazon Germany doesn't have it at all and shopto doesn't want to send this outside UK which sucks.
@Dazza Don't leave out Canada.
@ColdSummer that's gotta be the reason. I mean why else would it be selling literally everywhere else. Goddamn FCC
@Clammy I suppose I grew up playing NTSC games, and my NES also had crazy tearing from the tube-box TV so I never considered it might be different in other regions, but I felt giddy seeing that nostalgic screen-tearing when first shown on the Direct.
@Chlocean @TedThread i'm sorry for being an *****, but man i literally grew up with the 3Ds, and i was waiting this with anticipation. maybe i have to blame the leaks for the hype, but leaks or not i simply don't see enough value to spend 60 bucks. like i haven't supported nintendo and their never discounted first party IPs enough in 30 years. and i also understand that the 35th is not as strong as the 25th, but man this package just gives me the impression "Oh, right, this year there's an anniversary...right. well, here, take this 3D games! happy?". i mean was i completely out of proportion to expect something along the lines of Wind waker remaster, Twilight Princess remaster and link's awakening but applied to mario? "but it would've cost way more!" yeah that's my point! like nintendo wouldn't made a profit on a package like that...i'm sorry for being annoying but this package to me sounds very much like they're deciding what to do with the rest of their retro library based on how well this will sell.
@Chlocean @TedThread i just realised writing the response that zelda has now more actual well made full fldged 3D remasters than Mario does.
Excuse me? when did that happen? a franchise that has historically sold less than mario receiving more dev care?
@teo_o My statement still stands in that i cannot recall another franchise whether it be Nintendo's or otherwise getting such attention on any memorable birthday before. None of the Zelda's have, nor Sonic or any one of the thousands that deserve it. Most pass by without any mention at all. No matter what anyone puts out, it will never be enough, or quite what some people expected. It's a handful of really great games, made better. My time to play these days is limited and any more to me would be utterly pointless. Also, i know some people like physical extra's, etc, but personally I'm totally over it. I've got shelves full of special editions that i've never looked at. For me, i thought it was good. The Tetris 99 hack as you put it is clearly not a hack, how could it be, it's a completely different game, although it is a fan made game, that was shutdown by Nintendo and now seemingly they've made their own.
Curious what the resolution is on that screen, the footage in the Nintendo Direct looked funny like it was being scaled oddly...
@YANDMAN we had different expectation. maybe it's the leaks fault but i expected something like Wind Waker and Twilight princess on WiiU. i would replay from start to finish a 60 bucks mario 64 game in a new engine. 10 minutes on a 4:3 port it's not worth 20 bucks. In my opnion. ocerina on 3ds? bought it, i saw value there. Majora's? same. Link's Awakening? same if not better.
@farrow000 I ordered mine and i'm not a brit, being delivered to Texas from Nintendo UK via Skypax
For anyone in the us, a GameStop employee said they should start preorders for them tomorrow.
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/nintendo-game-watch-super-mario-bros-/6428471.p?skuId=6428471
They added the pictures finally. Must be coming soon!
@Kolzig Yep, it's available at spelbutiken.se
@Vic_Atreides
@Thwomp_Stomper I hope you’re right
Nintendo Minute just did an unboxing video four hours ago. Game & Watch was absent.
I’ve been checking Best Buy and amazon US and nothing ... at least Best Buy has a page up. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/nintendo-game-watch-super-mario-bros-/6428471.p?skuId=6428471
Amazon UK finally ceased showing “This item can not be shipped to your selected location”-*****, so I could order mine for outside UK 🙂
They are already out of stock now on Amazon France.
I'm getting this I not born was no were close to the game and watch I was born around mario G2 and mario G1.
@Cd3xt3rw4rd How? it still says that for me. (US) I wish the FCC would hurry up.
@Spacey yeah I was just saying that. This is ridiculous
@Spacey Day before yesterday i got the error message all the time. Yesterday morning I tried again and error ceased so I was able to order. Hope it clears soon for US as well.
My new theory is that if pre-orders don’t open for the US on Tuesday (because Monday is Labor Day) then they will open on 9/13. I only say this because on the official site, there is a picture of a Game & Watch showing 9:13. And yes, I have a lot of time on my hands.
@ColdSummer huh that's a it's clever idea.
I was able to finally pre-order on Amazon UK to deliver to my address in USA (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08GZ3DRLW?tag=gamespot-preorderguides-20)
When will it be available for the USA to preorder? Why are we not being offered it, and everyone else in the world is? eBay prices are insane. Please when for us in the USA?
@Sharon778 The reason it's most likely not available for preorder in the USA is because the FCC still hasn't approved it yet. If you look at the bottom of the official web page for the game and watch, it says it can't be sold yet until the FCC approves it.
For being Nintendo’s most profitable region, NoA doesn’t really care about its customers when it comes to collector’s edition items. There have been many times when CEs that Japan and the UK were offered that weren’t offered here. Also notice how this item is up for sale on Nintendo’s website in other regions while NoA just tells us to check back for pre-order updates, knowing full well that scalpers/bots are going to buy them up before the average person sees that Nintendo updated their website to show pre-order availability. They treat their physical NYC store well, but the rest of us? They don’t care.
@ColdSummer - Any new theories?
@SuperToe Yes. My new theory is that anyone who hasn’t pre-ordered the UK version should periodically refresh the Amazon UK page to see if it goes back in stock, because chances are at this point the US version is just going to release at a random time on a random day. Lazy government bureaucrats at the FCC have even more excuses to work slowly now.
@ColdSummer - Yeah. I was foolish and didn't jump on the UK pre-orders because I thought: "Oh, the US orders will open-up any time now." Ugh... Still waiting.
@SuperToe if it’s any consolation, the UK version stayed in stock for a few days so maybe there will be a good amount to go around for us too.
@ColdSummer - My defeatist theory is that we're not getting pre-orders (Nintendo's done this to us before). It's going to be in-store only, which is super fun during a pandemic.
@SuperToe to be honest I think I might prefer that as long as we know the day it will be made available. I think I stood in at least an hour’s worth of lines for a couple amiibos before I got burnt out hahah.
@Rika_Yoshitake hmmm yes, the UK, where English is not spoken
Alright all, stay vigilant. It seems as though FCC approval has been obtained. I think today could be the day.
Nintendo should have colorized the Super Mario Land series and included it in GAME & WATCH!
@Mattiac that would have been amazing value!
@ColdSummer - Amazon UK preorders are up (again) right now. I just grabbed one as a backup in case scalpers clean-out the US versions... which, of course, they will.
@SuperToe thanks for the heads up. I did the same. The amount of time these have been available makes me think the US one won’t be too hard to get after all.
Any ideas of a place that will ship the product to Brazil?
Looks like it finally went up without warning, and sold out in the USA. I’m so sad and irritated by this... I’ve been checking a couple times a week since this was announced.
@flummerfelt I was just wondering about that...good thing I had a notify me set up. Which didn't bother to do anything.
I haven't seen anything change on Amazon or Best Buy's pages.
US is getting the bad end of this so far. They know for a matter of limited that they will do there ever so famous product scarcity tactic and never do a preorder like everywhere else in the world. Sure, I could order the Japanese one but it’s the point.
It’s the NES classic all over again or the Mario pins. Guess I will be rotting at Target that morning or Best Buy. Walmart will not have them ready till later in the day if not the next day.
Practical question here, but if I buy it to use as a clock does it have any sort of Switch like stand at the back of it?
@Purplemage howdy ya'll, imagine being salty English comes from England
Will Amazon.uk ship to me in the states if I pre order?
@Zach1122
If you check the product listing on amazon.co.uk whilst logged into your Amazon account, it should state if this product is eligible for shipping or not right away.
I wonder if people will manage to mod in roms of other games, I mean it’s not entirely impossible
@BirdBoy16
The thing has a USB-C port for charging, but it more than likely is used in-factory for servicing and flashing.
So unless they go far to do something like, burn a fuse upon successful flashing, there's a good chance this thing will be hackable like the NES and SNES Classic Editions.
That said, the emulator would be purpose built for games that didn't really use NES mappers so ROM support is likely to be on the very low side.
They might not even be ROMs, given the other software the device runs like its clock.
@gcunit I don't wanna be a party popper but just see if you have to pay import taxes, sadly things from abroad (Japan and USA) are not always cheaper.
I need to check with Nintendo. I pre ordered and had a confirmation email, but nothing further relating to delivery time.
@RupeeClock wow I didn’t think I’d get an answer for a question I made as a joke but thanks
@RupeeClock awesome, thank you! It says it will ship to me so I’m gonna pre order and see what happens.
@Electric-Dreams I wanted to know that as well, have not seen any stand (or image of the rear of the unit) yet. Hopefully NL will have a review up shortly!
I believe next year is the 35th Anniversary of Donkey Kong?
I'd leap at a Donkey Kong Anniversary G&W to serve as a cute desk clock!
So a friend of mine just told me that he contacted the USA Nintendo store here in NYC and they told him that Nintendo will be selling the Game & Watch online only through their website. Apparently, they won't be available in store till December at the earliest. So he suggested to check the website when they update at 3am or 4am Eastern Friday Nov 13th to purchase online. Best of luck to everyone.
Nintendo UK Store has re-stocked the device if you wanted to grab it from there.
I'll try my luck at my local GS....
I was able to score with Best Buy. Picking up in person later today. Walmart sold out instantly and Amazon is only listing resellers with a starting price of $140! Very happy that I have both versions (USA and International), and now I can rest easy. I'm going to stop by my local Gamestop to see if they have them since online is still unavailable.
Anyone in Ireland, Smyths Toys have it in stock for €59.99 free delivery.
Is it just me or is this thing VERY expensive? I still ordered one
What are the chances Nintendo somewhat later on sells this more cheaply as a Switch Online promotion to clear stock?
just had some luck on Best Buy!
hey I got one! take that scalpers! I'm gonna hold onto this thing for a while
I made the preorder on Amazon immediatly...but After thinking I cancel It... It Is a sweet gadget, but totally useless...
Edit:
Hard to interpret Best Buy messages about cancellations/verified info. Still trying occasionally. I haven't been super motivated, didn't stay up late (get up early), but I liked the idea of the Best Buy slow rollout of supply. Just not working for me...
@aerwave NintendoNY tweeted yesterday that they're available today, one per customer. I'm guessing they'll have a separate line outside and it'll probably be debit/credit only. So that's another option for people. Already got mine at Best Buy for store pickup at around 2-something in the morning. I think they started at around 1AM.
Ordered one from each side of the Atlantic, and I'm content to wait until they arrive. Much relief at the rarity of not having to scramble to obtain the latest Nintendo hardware.
I might get this for my dad's birthday because he has never experienced original 2D mario world 1 - 1
Just ordered one from Amazon. Thanks for the link. Seen some selling a higher prices. Get mine in next week.
Popped up on Amazon later in the day (after having sold out earlier) which was a surprise, and I got an order in. After the Best Buy issues it was a pleasant surprise.
Ordered from the UK Nintendo store for £45 free delivery. Nice little Xmas present for my Mario obsessed 7 year old son 😁
Are people actually buying this? I play Super Mario Bros on my 3DS, which also plays the entire rest of the series!
I don’t like the headline of this. As if every Nintendo release is scalped. These headlines make it happen and it shouldn’t because the product will be receiving new shipments regularly, just like the 3d mario romset...
If only they had developed it into a cool alarm clock or something
We can't beat scalpers as long as they're convinced to have the moral high ground...
I received mine right after launch. I like it but I wish there more games on it.
I saw 6 of them at Walmart two days ago. So it looks like they're being stocked
My 4 local Argos has an abundance of them
They’re not terribly hard to find at GameStop. Found one at a local one last week.
I walked into my local GameStop today and grabbed the last one they had. Going to give it to my brother for Christmas.
Such a waste of tech for just two friggin' NES ROM dumps.
I'll still consider nabbing this (if I can) but only as a collector's item as I can't see myself making use of it. If I really wanted to take out a handheld that fits in my pocket, I'd just use my trust old DS Lite.
What I would love though, is something akin to a Game Boy Micro (at least in form) with a bunch of GB/GBC/GBA games pre-loaded.
In stock at every Best Buy in BC Canada for weeks now. Honestly I can't see this being a hot seller. If it was an original GameBoy pre loaded with 20 games, I'm sure it'll fly off the shelves. But this Game & Watch is too bare bones to justify the $70.
Bought it and sent it back.
The packaging is great, but the rest...
Where to buy? Right now I see it everywhere. No reason to be scalped. Maybe we will see it at a 30$ pricetag next year. It's a typical dust catcher and non-seller.
Is it really that hard to find?? I just waltzed into Walmart and bought it on impulse, there were tons of them there.
There's no kickstand and the battery only lasts 8 hours. So much for my hopes of using the clock function.
Actually managed to snag one myself yesterday at GameStop while looking for the Hyrule Champions amiibo. I was surprised it was only $50. I thought it would be more expensive than that.
Might pick up another one for my brother, if he sees my text message and replies back in the affirmative. He used to play Super Mario Bros. Deluxe all the time on his Game Boy Color, so I thought it would be a nice gift for him so he can play Mario on the go.
I see it everywhere available with stock in my country. Not really picking up here.
Picked it up day 1, nice little handheld. Twas also the first time I had beaten the original mario bros. too!
£30 for one today? Bargain.
I was not going to buy one because I couldn't justify the price considering I have access it on my Switch and Wii U but at £29.99 that just made it worth it.
Both Walmarts in my town have plenty of them. Nobody wants them. I kinda regret buying mine. It was neat for five minutes.
The Best Buys in my area have stacks of these. These didn’t sell as well as Nintendo imagined, I figure. I bought this day of release assuming that it would be strictly limited and sell out fast (like almost every other limited edition Nintendo thing), but ends up I was wrong. I almost regret picking it up; for the same price, I could now have picked up a Neo Geo mini. I hope the low sales figures don’t discourage Nintendo from doing something like a Game Boy Classic in the future.
Good to see Nintendolife branching out on those affiliate buttons
I picked another one up from Amazon, the deal is too good to pass up.
Already have 3 of these, 2 will be sold in around 5 to 10 years when they are going for like 400 each.
Sad to see the discounts. Doesn’t bode well for a 35th anniversary Zelda version game and watch which I would have loved.
Am still enjoying mine and the watch function is neat.
They did this device a disservice by not leaning hard into the clock function. I have mine plugged into a monitor and sitting on a Switch stand. Glancing at all the different animations (11:11 with the thwomps and rescuing the princess at midnight are my favorites) throughout the work day is a delight. A built-in kickstand and the option to turn off the auto sleep would have made all the difference.
Wait this thing has been around for good while. How much longer you guys want to wait to get one.
Picked this up cos of this deal! I've been thinking of starting a new Mario / Nintendo toys/oddities Collection and keeping things mint condition so maybe I'll start here 💪
If we get a deal in the U.S. I'll probably grab one, but so far I've successfully resisted.
Is this hard to find? My local Walmart has a big stockpile of them on the shelf still.
It's a lot of money for what it is, tho I am considering picking one up for the potential hacking of adding more games to it (which I am pretty sure has been done already).
@Electric-Dreams I bought a stand off Etsy and just keep it plugged in all day. I absolutely love using it as a clock.
Please please please make a Zelda one! I would snatch it up in a heartbeat!
@Razer
I always think I should do this but never actually get around to doing it. If I’d bought three of every LEGO set I’d basically be getting free LEGO by now.
in my country these are a dime a dozen, nobody's buying them. I wonder what the retailers are gonna do with them
They were sold for under 30€ at a discounter here, but almost nobody bought one, so they went down to 20€ after a weel. They are still there. Nothing to worry about, if you want one.
“Due to overwhelming demand we’ve put the price back up”
