Before we get stuck into the news, we have some... questions about the anatomy going on here. Peach has her ears pierced... but instead of her earrings appearing on her cat-ears, they appear where her human-ears would be. What do you mean it's a costume? If it were just a costume, why would they be running around on all fours? We await Nintendo's comment on the matter.
Meanwhile, it's time to make some room on your stuffed amiibo shelf, folks: Nintendo isn't done selling you bits of plastic yet. Details about the new Bowser's Fury expansion, exclusive to the Nintendo Switch version of Super Mario 3D World, have included new compatibility for the Bowser and Bowser Jr. amiibo figures, as well as two totally new amiibo: Cat Mario and Cat Peach.
Unlike most amiibo, which are silky-smooth and fun to put in your mouth [Ed: not recommended], the Cat amiibo are textured to create the appearance of fur. They've even got some quite lovely gradients between the colourful body and the white socks and tail-tips, with red bases that signify them as members of the Super Mario series.
Cat Mario will grant players the ability to transform into an invincible White Cat Mario, and Cat Peach will cause power-up items to appear randomly. The two amiibo will both be available on the 2nd of February.
Will these two new amiibo enter the ranks of your favourites, or are they just two more to add to the ever-growing pile? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

Cat Peach is worth more to me
If anyone wanted one ... the Mario Switch is now on sale in the UK from the official website
Still not a fan of the fur texture, but I'm sure the collectors will appreciate these.
Again wish Rosalina, Luigi and Toad got one but oh well.
I appreciate the detail that was put into these, but I just don't see many people picking these up. I mean, there are several Mario and Peach amiibo variants, once you already have one, it's hard to justify buying more... especially when the functionality is the same in almost all the games.
They look like lumpy circus cotton candy.
Hopefully they have good functionality.
Ninja -NOT- approved.
Yeah that fur texture does look pretty unappealing. I think it's mainly because cats should be soft and fluffy, but that looks so rough and uncomfortable to touch. I'll still be getting them anyway, can't stop the amiibo collection at this point.
Also, didn't we get an article about these on Nintendolife back when they were announced?

@DAHstroy It's easy to justify buying multiple amiibo for a character if you consider them as figurines and not content.
Just waiting on launch. Mine are already paid for.
Why not Luigi🐱
That explains the word "Fur(r)y".
FYI- not news. I’ve had these pre-ordered on the Nintendo Store website since 04/10/2020 when they were announced last year.
Anyone know if you can get a life sized peach cat costume?
Where is the best Mario brother?
Just waiting for them. Wish they were sold separately and not a bundle
These were actually announced many months ago unlike what the headline and the actual article makes you believe.
Yeah, this is old news. Also disappointing news in that they didn’t try to make them actually furry.
But the double pack is only in Japan.
Just in time for Valentines Day, I can imagine these being given as gifts.
Also nice wedding cake toppers.
Also my avatar approves. 😎
Fur texture is... something. Felt would have been better or just a smooth plastic surface honestly.
@SwitchForce not true.
@Clammy : You can make your own.
Ingredients:
12x Cats (ideally with fur of a similar colour)
1x Shear
1x Needle
1x Thread
1x 10L Antiseptic Liquid
As for the steps, I'll leave it to your imagination.
The simulated furry texture makes these Amiibo look so ugly. 🤢
