I shouldn't laugh at MS in Japan, but I do, every time. XD
I am sure PS5 will do better than. It is once it's more readily available and has more PS5 exclusives on the market.
But I don't see Switch slowing down at all any time soon.
87 Xbox Series Xs sold in the week...? Oooooof, that’s pretty embarassing. Not sure why PS5 is below Switch Lite in those rankings considering it’s sold more as well.
Japan × cats = DEVASTATION.
Laughing at Microsoft in Japan is like laughing at the horse walks into a bar joke.
damn the switch is dominating over in the east
@Kobeskillz
Nah that joke is popular!
Good showing all around.
Shouldn't PS5 be second in the hardware chart?
Wow, nintendo is really sitting on a gold mine here.
People are beginning to realize the Switch is just a reboot of the Wii U. This is great for people like me who never owned a Wii U, but I'd be pretty frustrated if every other big title that Nintendo puts out for the Switch is a game I already played years ago.
@Kevember Nah, they're porting Wii and 3DS games now instead (at full price) 🙄
Japanese retail launch sales comparison
> Super Mario 3D World: 106,967
> Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury: 250,018
Adding digital sales should put Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury's Japanese launch sales well above 300,000 - likely closer to 350,000.
The game looks to have sold well above 1 million copies globally at launch - possibly 1.5 million or more.
@Kevember
Maybe, I have some of those games in my Wii U, but, a thing is super great when those same games come to Switch, and obviously is that I can play them anywhere, anytime ^^
Danggg Nintendo do be dominating
Fastest-selling 3D Mario games at Japanese retail (launch / LTD):
1) Super Mario Odyssey: 511,625 / 2,208,475
2) Super Mario 3D Land: 344,698 / 2,111,490
3) Super Mario Galaxy 2: 337,569 / 1,046,696
4) Super Mario Sunshine: 280,610 / 789,989
5) Super Mario Galaxy: 256,241 / 1,025,664
6) Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury: 250,018 / ???
7) Super Mario 3D All-Stars: 210,136 / 555,345
8) Super Mario 64 DS: 120,062 / 1,231,891
9) Super Mario 64: 162,111 / 1,646,558
10) Super Mario 3D World: 106,967 / 602,234
3D World + Bowser’s Fury launch sales should be between 300,000-350,000 (likely closer to 350,000) once digital sales are factored in.
Why is Switch Lite listed as 2nd in sales when it sold less than the PS5 (21,528 vs 22,336)?
@westman98 I know we give out about ports but when they secure sales figures like that it's going to continue for a very long time.
@nessisonett l feel like xbox is not getting popular anymore
One more week of Nintendooooooom for all of us
@SakuraHaruka The idea of rebuying all my games every time a new console comes out seems absurd personally
It's like do people who bought all those old nes, smes, n64 games ect on their wii u get to play them on their switch? They dont and seems even more ridiculous considering they're digital titles
Mario gets it done. I'm not surprised. My kids are loving it.
@Clyde_Radcliffe
I'm vaguely reminded of that time in Ratatouille when the customers are like "we want something... new"
@Doktor-Mandrake
everyone may to buy the game they want on the platform they want and it is available to them, even if they have bought it before, and you have to be respectful.
Also, as I mentioned, I buy those games again because they offer me something that the Wii U does not offer me, play them everywhere and anytime, however I can continue to enjoy them on my Wii U, because I want to, and that is my business.
@SakuraHaruka That doesnt make sense, because eventually the switch will stop being made and its games
It's not like people who play on the NES for example get to play it in their "platform of choice"
Also other platforms let you carry your games over to the new systems, it's not an unusual concept except for nintendo
I'm impressed both Xbox consoles outsold something in the hardware charts this week!
@Rob3008
Exactly.
Complain all you want, but when the port sells like 3X more than the original at launch (and is likely one of the fastest-selling games in the franchise), you can't be shocked when Nintendo continues to give the people what want via more ports.
I prefer this style of Mario over Odyssey, yeah I said it. Burn me.
@Doktor-Mandrake It's not an unusual concept for nintendo, Gameboy playable on the GBA, gba playable on ds, ds playable on 3ds. Gamecube playable on wii, wii playable on wii u. However what backwards compatibilty has playstation had? PSX on ps2, then barely supported on ps3 right at launch then nothing until playstation 5.
I would say nintendo has a relatively decent track record with backwards compatibility and it seems like they only don't support it when a change in technology precludes it, the change to optical discs for game cube and the change back to cartridges for the switch.
Monster Hunter Rise couldn't arrive any sooner. Enjoy 1st place for now Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury but once the hunt starts the fury will fall.
@DEEZ_NUT_DA_MAn I agree 3D world + bowsers fury is my favorite Mario game.
@michellelynn0976 @DEEZ_NUT_DA_MAn Same. Dont care what anyone says or thinks. There is so much creativity on display with 3d world. It is also the best parts of literally every mario game possible; you can definitely feel the influence of super mario world, mario 3, mario 2 (US), the 3d mario games and even NSMB.
Once againSwitch games . 9 switch , 1 PS4...NOT PS5 BUT PS4 GAME. and 0 ps5 games. things are not looking good for ps5. Go to n4g a Sony pony web site. they never print Japan charts . because switch dominates. and something curious. look at the multi platform games.
Some of them like Ninja Gaiden trilogy are for Switch , ps4, and pc . secret of mana reboot. Switch, ps4 pc. little nightmares 2. Switch, ps4, pc. and switch version sold better. WHERE are all the PS5 VERSIONS? and before you say the games are old. Little nightmares 2 IS A NEW GAME.
There are over 4.5 million ps5 sold. and none of their games are selling. WHY ARE 3RD parties in Japan passing up the ps5? SHORTAGES? what a joke.
Japanese developers go where the money is. COME ON SONY PONIES, TELL me. WHY aren't 3rd parties in Japan making a ps5 version. WHY ONLY PS4? SWITCH keeps selling. keeps getting games. a 500 door stop just gets scraps. this does not look good for ps5.
@Chowdaire I see you are a person of culture. Raises glass to you.
@Rob3008 I don't mind ports, but I mind then virtually counting them as new content.
I'm still wrapping my head around the fact that Super Mario 3D World was released over 7 years ago...
Children have completed high school in that time.
Please excuse me; I'll be over there in the corner having a mid-life crisis.
3D World only launched at 106,967 in Japan back in 2013, so this is impressive even considering how everything on the Switch sells.
@Anti-Matter No, I am just pointing out facts. The PS5 has no games selling well in Japan. This isn't a good sign.
@michellelynn0976
So very, very sad.
@Anti-Matter That is part of it, but it is also Sony not trying to appeal to Japanese audiences as much as they used to.
@TheFullAndy You are obsessed with me, aren't you?
@michellelynn0976
Much like a car crash, horrible thing to witness but can't help but look.
@TheFullAndy That is why you focus on others so much. Your life is a wreck. OK childish tool.
@michellelynn0976
The nerve to say that with the way you get on haha!
@Forral Yes having things like gamecube controllers and games work on the Wii for instance, was very nice.
Things like that seem a thing of the past these days though, the ports they're making for switch are being charged like £40-£50 which is a lot for re-release titles
@TheFullAndy You have pony issues.
@michellelynn0976
Possibly the most ironic thing I have ever read.
It would be impressive if I thought you did it intentionally but nah, you are just that clueless.
@TheFullAndy Clueless? I know, you have no clue.
@michellelynn0976
Yeah good one.....
No fun sparring with idiots, back onto ignore you go.
@TheFullAndy Bye ignorant troll.
