And the XB series sold 3 units in Japan. That’s 3 more coasters in Japanese homes.
Super Mario 3D World is amazing, so I can understand why it's still on top!
Wow mario kart is still up there! I'm actually surprised
Wow, Japan really loves Momotaro Dentetsu. It was at the top for 11 weeks, and even now it is still at second.
It's amazing how both Switch models individually still sell more than all the competing consoles. Really hope this success will lead to many more great things coming to the system in the coming years.
Every Japanese charts article is just: Nintendo wins gen 9
A think it's awesome mario 3d world is getting this much love I loved the wii u it had great games just poor marketing
Surely all the Japanese that wanted Kart 8 have it? who keeps buying it? Ghosts?
We need a petition for Konami to port their BEMANI games to Nintendo Switch.
DDR A20+, Beatmania IIDX 27 Heroic Verse, Gitadora NEX+AGE, Pop'n Music Lively, etc on Nintendo Switch is like a Dream Comes True.
And some people said, "it won't last at Number 1 for long". 😂🤣
Incredible! Love it! We'll Deserved!
@Brummieendo90 You buy a switch and you are legally required to buy mariokart
What's an ekusubokusu?
@OnlyItsMeReid Damn... Give me some time, please. I just started last week and got so far Zelda BotW, Mario 3D World and Mario 3D All-Stars. Oh well, I just bought the BotW seasonpass and now I have no excuse left to not play it already. See you in a month...
@weisske gen 9 is ps5 and xbox series, the switch is definitely gen 8 and nintendo have been around 4 years behind each gen. So atm ps4 is winning gen 8 but I can definitely see the switch outselling it especially if nintendo get some major first party games released soon.
One can only imagine how many units the switch will shift when monster hunter comes out next month
No surprise. Bigger sales are still ahead
@Anti-Matter I’ll sign it. You need to make one anti. Not a fan of it but I know you’ve been asking for years
@Thelastjedi2007 I still have mine setup both for Wii U and Wii Games. My kids love playing Wii Sports Resort.
Damnit, 133 series X sold in Japan, and I still can't get one. Maybe I should travel there and buy one, probably got a better chance of getting one than waiting for the scalping market to die.
@Flangela
If Microsoft made a bigger push toward getting the Japanese developers on board, and especially with a good Japanese Game Pass option, they probably would compete better with Sony over there.
3D World + Bowser's Fury sold almost as much in its 2nd week than what the original 3D World sold in its launch week.
@Anti-Matter Make one. Just Dance has sold well on Switch so there's definitely a market for it!
The Switch has never had a price reduction and still continually sells strong with strong software sales to match. Unless sales are to suddenly dry up, there is no valid reason for Nintendo to release a Switch Pro anytime soon. I mean, who would they be marketing to? Out of the millions who now own a Switch, who would upgrade? I know I wouldn't. Long live the current iteration.
@UltimateOtaku91
Wii u was gen 8
Though to be fair the number system isn't the most accurate in conversation now since a lot of people count the gens differently
@weisske
Sorry I was comparing to power/graphics wise as to me it's
wii vs ps2
Wii u vs ps3
Switch vs ps4
Switch successor vs ps5
But yes the switch kinda came out 4 years early due the wii u flopping bad, if the wii u was successful then the switch probably would of launched last year or maybe this year
@UltimateOtaku91 That you matched the PS2 to the Wii instead of the GameCube immediately disqualifies the comparison. Not only was the GameCube contemporaneous with the PS2, but it was more powerful than the PS2, something most people forget (or ignore), especially those wishing to push a pro-Sony and pro-power narrative. Nintendo learned that power isn't the key to competing; it's mind-boggling how few other people have.
Well at least the PS5 combined are beating the Switch Lite in the chart, that's something to celebrate about I guess. Normally you don't beat the Switch Lite that easily cause then you're one step closer to facing it's bigger brother, the original Switch.
@Anti-Matter I agree. The Nintendo Switch has got quite the selection of rhythm based games. In part because of no region locking, and second because the touch screen can be used to simulate peripherals and arcade layouts.
Good to see 3D World stay at no.1, hopefully a few more weeks til the monster that is Rise conquers all in Japan.
PS5 stock seems to be stuck at the 25K figure each week, probably all the stock Sony can get into the market. I wish UK was getting that much then maybe I could get one!
As for Xbox well.......yeah.
And with Monster Hunter Rise dropping next month, Nintendo will continue to dominate the market in Japan for the foreseeable future.
The Switch is at the top of the food chain
@JimmySpades I agree and that is the reason why Nintendo went their own path because people ignored the gamecube in favor of the inferior PS2
@UltimateOtaku91 Dude you just exposed how little you know about gaming. A generation has nothing to do with power rather when a consoles was released. The Switch is an anomaly because it was released at the end of Gen 8, but will continue through Gen 9. It is an outlier
@Tipehtfomottob I respectfully disagree in regards to the Switch pro. Now is the time to release a pro model, when the console is on fire, not when sales begin to slack. The best way to appease customers in the twilight years of a console is to release a cheaper product, whether that is by simply reducing the base price or making a slimmer model that cuts production cost down. Problem with pro models is that they are A.) More expensive and B.) Marketed towards a more hard core niche market. The hard core players are also usually your early adopters so they are also the ones most hungry for an upgrade and you need to do it while you still have a strong mind share in the market.
How is 2DS outselling Xbox Series X/S after 10 years on the market? Do Microsoft not pursue Japan as a market or is it just really unpopular?
@Thelastjedi2007 The problem with the Wii U wasn’t marketing. The problem was the Wii U.
