Nintendo's word filters are usually dumb but they make the rules in their games, simple as that. That said, I don't know why anyone would try to contact Nintendo for this kind of situation and not expect it to bite them in the rear. "Hey guys, you deleted this level that said [word] in the title, I have other levels with [word] in the title and they're still up, what's up with that?", that's just begging for the rest of your levels to be taken down. And even if they were to say "ok, our bad, whatever", it's already down from the servers so the guy would still have to replay the level to upload. And if he already has to do that (or even if he didn't, really) why not just rename the level and be done with it? Whatever levels he had before with [word] in their titles probably bypassed the word filters or were never reported. He got lucky before and he just pushed it by bringing Nintendo's attention to them. He made the whole ordeal much more complicated than it needed to be.
People lashing out at Nintendo for this and saying they aren't uploading levels anymore are outright blind and need to get real.
From what I know, the problem wasn't so much the change itself, but that they made the plot of the game make no sense by removing events which should happen, and allude to them at a later point. It's almost as if in Majora's Mask you reached the end of the Final Day while running around town, and instead of the moon crushing Termina you saw Majora's Wrath dying and the game ended.
The environment looks like it was made in Unity, they showed a lousy map with level selection, same boring toads like the last PM games, painting gimmick, the exact same "real world" attacks like in Sticker Star. I say we're right on time judging another wasteful use of the Paper Mario franchise.
This Direct was a waste of time and resources, especially considering the only important reveal was leaked a day before.
The VC releases of Pokemon being compatible with Pokebank is not newsworthy. The only circumstance it would've been was if the games had no compatibility with it. And dedicating 30 seconds of the Direct to "announcing" that NOW you can play the games in traditional and simplified Chinese is definitely a sign that they were stretching for content to fill up 5 minutes.
What about Pokken Tournament? Wouldn't this had been an apt place to remind us that the game is coming out next month? It's obvious they rushed this thing out the door.
Kind of dubious to call Supers a "take on fatalities". I mean, with Street Fighter V out yesterday you'd think you'd try to make a reference to that instead of Mortal Kombat, but whatever.
It's important for everyone to note that when they talk about the game being for North America, it means that the code may only be redeemable on a North American eshop account (US and Canada). Some codes for DLC have worked for me before with no problems, but eshop credit cards aren't cross compatible. I don't know if games work the same. Region locking is a mess.
@antdickens It worked, thanks. I originally made my account an american one because you couldn't buy point cards for the eshop in mexico, and I didn't want to tie a credit card to my account. Of course now you can buy those in any 7/11, and I have to pay more to get point cards for the US shop. Good times.
I take it you use ip detection to tell users when they try to enter if the contest is only for a certain region? I'm in Mexico but my Wii U is tied to an american account so I entered my email to try my luck with this, but a browser prompt stopped me from submitting my email.
I get the feeling most of the talk about this topic comes from that heartstring puller of a facebook post. The man most likely breached confidentiality and did it in an unpleasant way, so of course there were repercussions in his job. Simple.
I like how someone's complaining about fanboys in a dedicated website. Good job. It's just as bad if all you do is criticize, be negative and shot down every single opinion regarding something. Two sides of a coin.
They kept promising the game was coming out great and that it was possible to release it on wii u, yet dropped the act completely as soon as they realized they could just profit from the pc version. I was interested in this. I'm not interested in having a gaming pc so I was genuinely excited to try a new genre for me on a console I enjoy, but it's nice to see some developers just don't care about keeping their word. I'll just get a car sim on my ps3 to scratch that itch.
Great piece. And like the author and many others, what was once a source of excitement and "oh no, my wallet is going to suffer from this~", it's become a tremendous pain in the rear. Unless I'm looking for Mario or Peach, there's no sure guarantee I'll find an amiibo I want for its retail price.
I was intrigued by the use of amiibos in Mario Maker; it wasn't a selling point, sure, but there it was finally another chance to make some use of that Wii Fit Trainer amiibo I got out of sheer luck on launch day. But then they say that you'll be able to use any amiibo character you find in user-made levels? Well, there goes the point in me buying the amiibo in the first place.
Nintendo needs to sort things out. Either go full-throttle with amiibo production or just drop it completely. They can't keep going at it the same way they've been doing it, unless they want to keep losing trust from their loyal costumers.
Let's say I don't like to end E3 conferences wanting to play more of a console I don't own than the ones I currently own.
Pretty much all they showed was already announced in one way or another, and the new stuff they showed was definitely not impressive enough. I won't go as far as to say I'm selling my Wii U for a PS4 because there's a lot of stuff I do play like Splatoon, Smash and Bayonetta (it doesn't help either that most of my games are digital), but if I had to make a decision now between one of those two, I'd go for a PS4.
@Gerbwmu I'll make sure to get it while it's at that price, although the set with the 3 of them is, of course, at $60. It shouldn't be a concern to get these things. I can go on a quick trip to a couple stores and find almost a complete collection of current figures for disney infinity or skylanders. Amiibos were supposed to be that, instead they've become impossible to get for casual buyers, a horrible nightmare for collectors and an easy money-making schemes for scalpers. I really want to know what's stopping nintendo from stocking these things properly. Is this their intention? Drive up the demand through the roof by making them virtually impossible to get after the first minutes they go on preorder or sale? The amiibo situation is insane.
I'm still looking in stores for the inkling girl. I wanted the set with the 3 splatoon amiibos, I had the money on my hand but some stores sold out in matter of seconds, and other didn't even receive any after they promised to have in stock. Of course at this point in the game there's no way I'm getting that set so I'll have to settle for the squid girl. I've checked and I can import the japanese version for almost the same price or the american version for twice the price. Both options are bull, I don't want to jump through hoops to get a dumb plastic figure.
It really is frustrating that nintendo's offering a product and I want to buy it, quite literally with money on hand, but they don't let me. I'm almost sure I'm not even gonna bother with any other amiibo that comes out because it'll be the same "let's go to the store 2 hours before it's open so we can maaaybe get one" story.
From an article in this very same site posted on December 2013, these are the words of SM's Creative Director Andy Tudor:
"The Wii U is more than capable of providing the core Project CARS experience. Sure, some super-high-level graphical effects may not be possible but in comparison it also offers a unique interaction experience via the GamePad controller, with the second screen potentially becoming your track map overview, rear-view mirror, telemetry, or simply mimicking a real race car steering wheel whilst you use the gyroscope to drive.
Plus there are great possibilities to extend our existing WMD community into the Mii Community with discussion and sharing of content and ideas. There's no realistic racing game on the Wii U currently yet, and we hear the fans crying out for one. Project CARS provides a Forza or Gran Turismo-like experience for those gamers and it'll be something to really show off what the system is capable of. From our internal playing, it's looking extremely promising."
If I can't get that special pack of the three amiibos without having to pay a ridiculous price, I'm done bothering with amiibos for good. That said, I'm very excited about the game itself, all this recent rush of information has made it even harder to wait for it. But I'm not sure it will be able to move consoles on its own, as much as I hope it did.
My only problem with this way of releasing the game is, like other people pointed out, the Direct made it seem as if it was going to be a single game with different story paths. Nothing new to a video game, but a first for Fire Emblem. But it turns out they split the story paths into separate games for some reason, locking a story path out of the other game unless you pay extra for DLC, or buy the cartridge on its own. That sounds kind of... sketchy. It's definitely not the worst way I've seen a company try to split a game into as many little pieces one has to buy separately, but it's not something I expected from Nintendo.
Hopefully this is something to test the waters in Japan, or next year they release the Complete Version in the US and Japan. Who knows, let's wait and see what happens.
Wait... they have almost everything done already? They're using kickstarter as a shop, not so much as a crowdfunding platform.
This amiibo thing has really gotten out of hand and Nintendo needs to do something about it. These things are worth so much people seem to have the need for cheap soft plastic cases to store unopened amiibos in. Weren't amiibos supposed to be fun collectible figures you could use with your games? Something like the Skylanders, but on a more basic level? It's absolutely crazy what amiibos have become. Both Nintendo and the people going crazy about them are to blame about it, but Nintendo has the power to do something to fix it. Here's to hoping they do.
So nobody has any problem with the fact that they've said how even if the Kickstarter campaign doesn't reach its goal, they'll still deliver the game? If they can apparently make the game without Kickstarter, why have it there in the first place? Not to mention how this event was supposed to be a big "reveal" and pretty much all they said was "Kickstarter coming soon thanks bye" and showed a few simple screenshots of environments. I'd also wish they restrained on references and puns to the fact that this will be a spiritual successor to Banjo Kazooie, but considering the name Project Ukulele, I can throw my wish out the window.
Perhaps I'm being too cynical about this, but I just don't trust these kind of vague promises anymore. Also I never cared for the Banjo games, so there's that.
I'm somewhat interested in toki tori 2, since I like puzzle games, but that main character design looks very unappealing to me. I'm all for cuteness, but this character in particular doesn't grab me at all; and I just can't imagine getting into a game where I don't even like to look at the main character.
As far as more games from the developer, Rush and Edge have my attention. Very neat presentation, and simple but challenging gameplay. I'd like to see more like that, maybe on a grander scale or an interesting new package.
I'd happily go for the Happy Boobs edition if it were made available to America (even with its juvenile name), I've wanted an oppai mousepad for the longest time, but the novelty wasn't worth the price they go for.
I loved the first SK game because under all the fanservice was a solid beat-'em-up with interesting characters; I've been hoping for an American release of the 2nd one since that video showing off some of the gameplay popped up. I'll probably go for the physical version since my sd is running out of space, but I'd like to have both digital version side by side on my main menu. We'll see.

This looks pretty fun. I played River City Ransom for the first time on my 3DS last year and I love it, the gameplay is really solid and the characters are great. I hope both this and that Crash N' The Boys: Street Challenge remake that's coming out for the PS3 eventually make it to the west.
I just checked the demo after a friend gave it a spin, and my opinion isn't any different. The gameplay is good, as I expected, and while I understand the complains about having to wait for the opponent to move, it's necessary to wait for them, and see when it's possible, to plan ahead. It could move a little faster; but like most times, people overreact. The dialogue was a bit cheesy but easily solved with a slide of the volume switch. The visuals, however, are not very good. The environments look good enough but the character models are ugly as sin. I might pick this game up if I see it around $15-$20 in the future.
@GamerZack87 30 times, like most other demos in the eshop. I don't think I've played a demo more than 30 times in my whole life, with the exception of maybe Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, Phantom Dust and Metal Wolf Chaos for the Xbox.
To be honest, I'm not very interested in the game. The setting isn't interesting at all, and the visuals are a bit.. blurry. It just doesn't look visually appealing. The gameplay does look fun, since it looks just like Valkyria Chronicles and that game was great. I might give the demo a shot later, but I feel like it'll just make me want to play VC again.
@Jairo_MC God forbid somebody catches on you saying you gasp LIKED Other M! You'll be ravaged by fans saying that game blows and you're a bad person for liking it.
No offense, but the video seemed like 7 minutes of unplanned fanboy gushing about the game. I won't deny these are good games, but I feel like people put them on incredibly high regards. Untouchable, perfect games that every single person who says they like video games has to play AND like if they know what's good.
I hadn't yet bought this game for whatever reason and was debating if I should get it digital so it could sit next to the ALBW icon in my golden 3DS XL; but since I've preordered the special edition of MM, I thought I might as well get this game physical too. Yet, I did notice last year that the game had become more scarce on local stores. Thankfully, I had a moment of luck and found the game a week ago.
I found the Collector's Edition with the metal case used in almost mint condition for around $40 a few years back in a Blockbuster. Giddily grabbed the game from the shelf the moment I saw it and since then I still feel really lucky I found it. Even if I didn't had it, I'd still rather have the physical disc instead of a download from the eshop (and I'd rather have the digital game instead of buying the used game on a normal game box Gamestop has had on sale for a while), but if more people get to play it, that's good I guess.
Something similar happened when I waned to get ICO for the PS2, the moment they announced an HD release on the PS3 the normally $50-$60 bids lowered exponentially. I managed to get an (again) almost mint condition used copy of the game. It's great to have these kind of games, even if digital sales and remasters make them less valuable.
This looks very fun! I can't wait for Nintendo to announce this in Wii U; I'm buying it day one. It looks like they took some elements from the Naruto UNS games and Tekken itself to pull this off, and I'm very happy with the results. At least just from a viewer standpoint.
I swear there's 3 kind of figures 4 Figures makes: horrible modeled figures, Horribly painted figures, and really good figures. This falls in the 2nd category, skin-tone is way off.
Also, they used pretty much the same pose as that figure from the WWHD Collector's Edition. A figure of Ganondorf turned into rock would've been much better, although too spoiler-y. Or maybe one of him holding Link and raising his arm with the Triforce resonating. Would be a good excuse to give a bit of light to the figure itself, instead of just putting some needless light light in the base, thus making the figure at least $50 more expensive.
You mention surveys as if they were nothing but an nuisance. Did people disliked them that much? I mean, they took at most a minute to fill, and they gave the feeling of having a direct contact with Nintendo. A minute of one's time (or two, including the post-play survey) for extra points one could spent on games or physical items? I don't see much of an issue there.
It seems to me most CN members react as if these past months of duds were the whole experience with the program. Yes, lately it's been devoid of interesting physical rewards (because of their plans to shut it down, I suppose), but there's been the golden nunchuk, G&W consoles, figures; and the games offered have ranged from solid dsiware titles to N64 classics.
Maybe for once I'm being too positive about the whole thing, but a lot of people online bemoan the CN program as if Nintendo deserved to give us more and better free games. Just take what you can and want from it: it's a loyalty reward program, not a subscription service.
Where's the option for "I like the idea of amiibos even if their use so far has been so-so, but Nintendo seriously needs to do something regarding the stock issue.", because I'm in that segment.
Everywhere I look for them I just see Mario, Peach and Kirby. The only time I've been able to see more variety was the release day for wave 1.
That prototype video makes it look like it had some potential to be a really scary and unnerving, something akin to Eternal Darkness. I can imagine that later in the game, the line between reality and Leon's visions would blur and he'd start seeing possessed dolls and that hook man without the screen going blue. Among other things to catch the player unprepared. I love RE4, but this sounds like a great concept as well. They should've used it on a spin-off or something.
Like many other, I wish they'd announced N64 or GCN instead, but this is still good to have, I guess (they could use a slightly lower price). I will say this, though: they better throw some focus on hard-to-find or expensive Wii games, since those are what would be worth getting.
@ShikabaneHime13 "I think it is pretty nice how they are trying to take all gamers (newbies, experienced, hardcore and casual) into account."
The problem is how hard it is to find middle ground when you aim to please so many. If the game's too easy, the dedicated players will feel excluded. If the game's too hard, young experience-less players will. And with how "hand-holdy" so many of today's games are, catering to the young and casual crowd will mean huge changes must be done to the game. The more I read about how they're making the game more accessible, the more worried I get. I guess only time will tell if these changes make that much of an impact on the game.
Nami with Wii Fit Trainer's gettup? Robin in Samus' armor? Chopper with a Kirby hat? Brook with Marth's outfit? Boy, these look really good. I wish we got the game localized, even if it was digital-only.
What a sad example of a game, even if it's supposed to be some kind of "clever" joke. This is made worse by the fact that Nintendo themselves advertised the game on twitter at some point.
If you can't see what's so bad about this thing, you need to open your eyes. and start using your head.

Both Nintendo and the people going crazy about them are to blame about it, but Nintendo has the power to do something to fix it. Here's to hoping they do.
Re: First Screens From Banjo-Kazooie Spiritual Successor Are Revealed, Kickstarter Coming In May
So nobody has any problem with the fact that they've said how even if the Kickstarter campaign doesn't reach its goal, they'll still deliver the game?
Re: Two Tribes Co-Founder Doesn't Think He Would Have Bought His Own Game
I'm somewhat interested in toki tori 2, since I like puzzle games, but that main character design looks very unappealing to me. I'm all for cuteness, but this character in particular doesn't grab me at all; and I just can't imagine getting into a game where I don't even like to look at the main character.
As far as more games from the developer, Rush and Edge have my attention. Very neat presentation, and simple but challenging gameplay. I'd like to see more like that, maybe on a grander scale or an interesting new package.
Re: Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson Confirmed For European Launch, Embarrassing Limited Edition Packs Promised
We'll see.

Re: Take A Glance At The First Screens From Downtown Nekketsu Jidaigeki
This looks pretty fun. I played River City Ransom for the first time on my 3DS last year and I love it, the gameplay is really solid and the characters are great. I hope both this and that Crash N' The Boys: Street Challenge remake that's coming out for the PS3 eventually make it to the west.
Re: Impressions: Nintendo Made The Right Call With Its Code Name S.T.E.A.M. Demo
Re: Impressions: Nintendo Made The Right Call With Its Code Name S.T.E.A.M. Demo
Re: Video: You NEED To Play Metroid Prime Trilogy
@Jairo_MC God forbid somebody catches on you saying you gasp LIKED Other M! You'll be ravaged by fans saying that game blows and you're a bad person for liking it.
No offense, but the video seemed like 7 minutes of unplanned fanboy gushing about the game. I won't deny these are good games, but I feel like people put them on incredibly high regards. Untouchable, perfect games that every single person who says they like video games has to play AND like if they know what's good.
Re: Ocarina Of Time 3D Reportedly No Longer In Production
I hadn't yet bought this game for whatever reason and was debating if I should get it digital so it could sit next to the ALBW icon in my golden 3DS XL; but since I've preordered the special edition of MM, I thought I might as well get this game physical too. Yet, I did notice last year that the game had become more scarce on local stores. Thankfully, I had a moment of luck and found the game a week ago.
Re: Not Everyone is Thrilled That Metroid Prime Trilogy Lands on the Wii U eShop Tomorrow
Re: New Pokkén Tournament Controller and Gameplay Details Emerge
This looks very fun! I can't wait for Nintendo to announce this in Wii U; I'm buying it day one. It looks like they took some elements from the Naruto UNS games and Tekken itself to pull this off, and I'm very happy with the results. At least just from a viewer standpoint.
Re: First 4 Figures Opens Pre-Orders For Its New Wind Waker Range
Re: Talking Point: Club Nintendo's Closure Is An Exciting Opportunity To Modernise Fan Rewards
Re: Poll: As amiibo Expands and Evolves, Which Features Are You Most Excited About?
Where's the option for "I like the idea of amiibos even if their use so far has been so-so, but Nintendo seriously needs to do something regarding the stock issue.", because I'm in that segment.
Everywhere I look for them I just see Mario, Peach and Kirby. The only time I've been able to see more variety was the release day for wave 1.
Re: Resident Evil 4 Was Almost A Very Different Experience
That prototype video makes it look like it had some potential to be a really scary and unnerving, something akin to Eternal Darkness. I can imagine that later in the game, the line between reality and Leon's visions would blur and he'd start seeing possessed dolls and that hook man without the screen going blue. Among other things to catch the player unprepared. I love RE4, but this sounds like a great concept as well. They should've used it on a spin-off or something.
Re: Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate Demo Codes Now Being Distributed in North America
How droll.
Re: Wii Disc Software Heading to the Wii U eShop
Like many other, I wish they'd announced N64 or GCN instead, but this is still good to have, I guess (they could use a slightly lower price). I will say this, though: they better throw some focus on hard-to-find or expensive Wii games, since those are what would be worth getting.
Re: Project Treasure Is Bandai Namco's Wii U Exclusive Free-To-Play Co-Op Action Game
Bamco's games are always chock-full of DLC. Can't even begin to imagine how they'd manage a free-to-play game.
Re: New Nintendo 3DS Release Date Confirmed for 13th February
Fans will always find something to complain about.
Re: The Bomber's Notebook Will Be Revamped in The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D
@ShikabaneHime13
"I think it is pretty nice how they are trying to take all gamers (newbies, experienced, hardcore and casual) into account."
Re: Video: Super Mario 64 Is Getting A Fan-Made HD Remake, And It Looks Gorgeous
Super 64 Mario?
Re: Video: New One Piece: Super Grand Battle! X Trailer Shows Off Its amiibo Costumes
Nami with Wii Fit Trainer's gettup? Robin in Samus' armor? Chopper with a Kirby hat? Brook with Marth's outfit? Boy, these look really good. I wish we got the game localized, even if it was digital-only.
Re: Review: Meme Run (Wii U eShop)
What a sad example of a game, even if it's supposed to be some kind of "clever" joke. This is made worse by the fact that Nintendo themselves advertised the game on twitter at some point.
If you can't see what's so bad about this thing, you need to open your eyes. and start using your head.
