Link in Soul Calibur II is still one of the best guest appearances for a Nintendo character in a third-party game and made that version the best one of the three.
Plus, Link's appearance in Soul Calibur II marked one of the rare times that a Gamecube version of a game outsold it's Xbox and PS2 counterparts.
@GrailUK The problem is, the mobile market is strange in the sense of what players are willing to pay for. Mobile Phone gamers will complain about paying 10 bucks into Super Mario Run and getting all the content in the game, but will spend hundreds and thousands of dollars on a game like Fire Emblem Heroes or Dragonball Legends.
It's why Nintendo has struggled in the mobile market, the whole thing goes against their normal model of selling games and systems.
@Munchlax This is what kinda made me lose interest in FEH, and I have not played the game in a long time outside of popping in every so often to see what's new and play the story.
This seems to be the fate of all mobile games. Dragon Ball Legends is having the same issue where it seems to cater more to super whales
The player base is dropping, but it still makes it high on the charts due to players tossing money at the game.
@Grumblevolcano Bayonetta 3 will still come to the Switch given Nintendo is funding the development of that game and they get along Microsoft pretty well.
Also, Microsoft is honoring all existing agreements such as the two PS5 exclusives that Bethesda was developing before they were bought.
So, at the very least, Bayonetta 3 is fine.
I will say, if they get the rights to something like Persona 6 on the Xbox, that could be a major blow to Sony.
If Sega is bought, I think Sony will walk away as the biggest loser here, especially if Microsoft keeps focused and let's Atlus do their thing.
Losing Persona will draw alot of Playstation gamers over to the Xbox.
@Investor9872 The problem here is that they can't fully take advantage of the larger amount of power because they still have to target their games for owners of older Switch models.
Look at the 3DS family. Games that were exclusive to the new 3DS and 2DS were no capable of running on older 3DS models and the OG 2DS because they took full advantage of the more powerful hardware.
Those games had trouble finding an audience since they cut out a large number of 3DS and 2DS owners who could not play them.
Most games in the 3DS family never took advantage of that beefier hardware, opting instead to target the larger audience of all 3DS family system owners.
So, would a Switch Pro really change anything? Look at the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X. Outside of some resolution improvements which few games ever took advantage of, all games on those platforms were developed with all PS4 and Xbox One models in mind.
I just don't see the point in a stopgap system that will just be outdated when the real Switch 2 comes out.
The Switch is 4 years old. It's successor will likely come in a couple of years anyway.
@Highonda_H_S For me personally, I consider the Switch a hybrid console and not a pure handheld like the Game Boy.
So, I view it in its own separate category from handhelds, home consoles like the PS5 and Xbox, PC gaming, and mobile gaming.
To me, the Switch is the first system of its kind and different from any other gaming device on the market.
So in that regard, the 3DS is the best handheld system ever made and will likely never give up that title since it's the last mainstream handheld system built from the Game Boy' lineage and design ideas.
It's sad to hear this because somehow, they survived the rise of Netflix and other streaming services, Movies being sold on demand digitally, and even the fall of two rivals that were larger then them.
What takes Family Video down in the end? Covid, which has done more damage to retail and businesses then Amazon and Wal-Mart combined.
@marioguy20 Sega lost because they shot themselves in the foot with bad decisions and I would argue that it was Sony who played the biggest role in driving Sega out of the home console market.
Don't forget, when Sega was not making stupid decisions and went after Nintendo with the Genesis, they beat them for several years in all regions outside Japan.
@Jmjfrank Chrom is still a part of Robin's Final Smash even though he's a playable fighter, so there's no reason Toad can't remain a part of Peach's moveset while being a playable fighter himself.
I think Captain Toad is the best way to go, especially since he can still reference the main Toad's move set as well.
@Sandro89 I'm over 12 years old and played Super Mario RPG numerous times since it came out in 1996, and I don't understand why people think he deserves to get into Smash, even compared to Mallow
To be honest, if I did pick either one, I would feel Mallow was better suited to be in Smash.
But, I don't think either one deserves to be in Smash as a full playable rep.
There are still other Mario characters who have not been made playable characters who are more important to the franchise as a whole such as Toad, Captain Toad, Waluigi, and Paper Mario.
The last one could easily fill the niche of "RPG Representative" for the Mario series.
Geno is little more than a footnote in Mario's history, Square Enix's history, and Nintendo's history who has become popular because a bunch of fanboys have hopped on a bandwagon to get him in.
This is not even the same case as it was for Ridley or King K. Rool who were popular and recurring villains of their franchises.
Super Mario RPG is a single game that got displaced by the Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi games, and Geno is just a party member in the game, who while important to the story, has no context outside of his own game.
He's not important, he's just got a massive bandwagon of followers who want him in.
@Retro_Player_77 While I do agree with you that some people bought the PS2 for its DVD playback, there's a reason why it's the best-selling game console to this day, and that's the fact that it had a large library of games and massive third-party support.
Saying the PS2 sold just because it could play DVDs is downplaying its importance to gaming and why it was such a massive success.
@Kiwi_Unlimited Don't take this the wrong way, but he's lucky he got that.
When characters like Rayman and Bomberman who are more iconic and important to gaming still can't make the main roster of Smash, then why should someone like Travis Touchdown?
I get you like the character, trust me I have a list of fighters I would love to see get in as third-party reps in Smash.
But all the third-party reps outside of Bayonetta are icons of gaming and their franchises are important to the history of gaming as a whole.
Bayonetta gets a pass since Nintendo owns the publishing rights to her.
@rallydefault I understand how you feel. Personally, I don't see them as much of a step up over my PS4 or Xbox One S outside of slightly better-looking graphics.
But there's no insane difference like there was during previous generation jumps.
These new consoles just don't seem to bring anything new to the table....
@Durians Fair enough, and it still backs up my point that N64 games are better played on other systems where you don't have to deal with that terrible controller.
I honestly think that this game was intended to come out during the Wii U's lifespan with full translation, and would have been sold for a couple of more bucks than other Wii U NES Virtual Console games.
The reason why I say that was during that generation, Nintendo released Earthbound Zero on the Wii U, and while they did not translate it, gave The Mysterious Murasame Castle a release on the 3DS.
Given Fire Emblem's popularity, Nintendo could have seen some money out of translating the game on the Wii U, especially if they could cross-promote it with Smash Bros for the Wii U.
Well, long story short, I think the Wii U market collapsed faster than Nintendo intended, and they dropped the project.
They likely tossed it into a vault somewhere. Since the Switch does not have a Virtual Console where you buy retro games separately like on the Wii, 3DS, and Wii U, Nintendo likely did not see the value of putting it out with the rest of the NES games on the Switch's Online service.
Well, fast-forward to 2020, and Nintendo is likely behind in terms of having stuff ready to go. Fire Emblem turns 30 years old this year, Nintendo decided to cash in and pad their schedule, and they pull their dusty Shadow Dragon translated rom that was intended for the Wii U out of their vault, touch it up a bit, and then put it out on the Switch.
I would bet a coke that this was intended to be a Wii U VC release that got scrapped and then dug out a few years later on the Switch.
It just seems odd they would randomly use a Wii U NES emulator for a Switch game as opposed to the one the Switch uses, a modified version of the ones either the 3DS or NES Classic use or simply create a new NES emulator for Shadow Dragon.
Why dig out the Wii U emulator which had issues back in the day?
I...I know I will be slammed for saying this, but the N64 is one of those systems that has aged poorly. Even the top-tier games like OOT and Majora's Mask are better played on other systems like the 3DS remakes. The same goes for Star Fox 64 on the 3DS, Both Banjo games on the Xbox One, and Perfect Dark for the same system.
Let's be blunt here, which one would you rather play? The N64 versions of those two games or the 3DS versions of those games? I'm not even comparing graphics here, the 3DS remakes make so many quality of life improvements, it's not worth going back.
Plus, that controller is the worst controller I have ever used in my entire history as a gamer! Why did Nintendo think something like that was a good idea? Was Goro part of the development team that created that thing?
If you love the N64, I'm not here to change your opinion. I just feel that the N64 was not a very good console in hindsight, and its library has aged poorly compared to the Saturn and the PS1.
I know this is a longshot and I don't want to get anyone's hopes up, but Nintendo does keep projects close to their chest.
But here's a crazy thought.
Maybe Nintendo is doing this because they have either a remake or a remaster of Melee in the works with online play included.
This has happened before. Years ago, Nintendo canned a fan-made Metroid II remake and people got pissed off at them. As it turns out, Nintendo themselves were working on a Metroid II remake on the 3DS.
So, while this might seem like a long-shot, maybe Nintendo is trying to do an official remaster of Melee for the Switch with online play.
They have seen how much of a player base this game attracts, and they love to do remakes and remasters of their older games.
To them, a Melee remaster would make them a good amount of money since they will pretty much force the community to buy new hardware to play it.
Maybe this could explain their sudden stance against Slippi and Melee ISOs. They don't want it to gain traction since they have a project in the works.
@Jokerwolf This is a horrible idea. Why should video games be held to a different standard than movies, TV Shows, Books, and other forms of media?
Copyright law exists for a reason, and yeah, I get that its a pain in the ass when things like this happen with Melee.
But companies like Sega, Nintendo, SNK, Capcom, all resell old games on modern systems. Many of which are over 20 years old!
Yeah, Nintendo is being a here. I agree 100%. But it's their copyright, and a game should not fall into the public domain after 20 years. Hell, it should never fall into the public domain unless the copyholder has refused to do anything with the game in that time, namely due to them going bankrupt.
But just like older movies, books, and TV Shows find new life on newer streaming platforms, so do games as well.
Making say, Sonic the Hedgehog public domain will do nothing but hurt Sega since most people won't have a reason to buy an offical copy.
This is just a bad idea. I don't agree with Nintendo on this, and I feel they should allow Melee(a game they are no longer selling) to be played online.
But taking a huge piss all over copyright law does not help matters either.
Let's all be honest here, this is not about Nintendo standing up for their copyright or being upset that modded copies of Melee are being played through an emulator.
To them, Melee is a cancer that won't go away. Nintendo wants all Smash Players to play the newest and shinest Smash Bros game which is Ultimate.
To them, there is no valid reason for anyone to be playing Melee in 2020 given Ultimate has all the fighters from 64-to Smash4 and its mechanics even move back towards Melee's to some degree.
Nintendo has made no secret as to their hatred of Melee and its scene since it often takes attention away from their newest game. Hell, I'm sure other fighting game publishers hate Melee since it means they often get pushed out of events like Evo since Smash has to run both its newest game and Melee.
So, the Melee community for its size is likely hated by Nintendo, other fighting game communities, and other fighting game publishers who hate that a nearly 20-year-old game is still hogging the spotlight all these years later at major events.
Covid-19 has given Nintendo a chance to destroy what they see as cancer once and for all while pushing Ultimate as the only game Smash players should be playing on a tournament level.
My guess is thatThe Big House fought hard for the Melee fans who wanted to play in a tournament but can't get to a live event due to covid, Nintendo got angry since they figured only Ultimate, and maybe Wii U and 3DS were the only games that would be played at the event since they are the only ones with active online features(and also the only three Smash games that Nintendo is still officially selling) and Big House's stubborn refusal to back down from having Melee at the event enraged Nintendo who pulled the plug and used their legal rights to shut the whole thing down.
Nintendo does not like the fact that Melee is still being played and even still overshadows the current games in the franchise.
This battle finally gave them a legal right to shut Melee down and tell other Smash Tournaments to either follow their orders or face the same fate.
Which is that Ultimate and maybe Wii U and 3DS are fine, but Melee is not allowed since it breaks Nintendo's rights as a publisher since it's being played on an emulator and modded.
This is more than Nintendo just being a about copyright. They are finally trying to weaken and destroy the Melee scene as much as they can before live events can happen again. Depending on how long Covid shuts down live events, Nintendo might get their wish with a weakened Melee community trying to rebuild after a year or maybe two with no live events.
I don't even understand why Microsoft even bothers with Japan. They barely sell any systems in the region, and the production cost of games, consoles, and hardware alongside promoting the console through ads, displays, that kinda thing has gotta be more then they earn from the few Xbox consoles they sell.
They keep losing money in Japan, and its clear that outside of Americans who live there or the odd Japanese gamer, Japanese gamers will always opt to buy Nintendo or Playstation hardware over the Xbox.
So, why do they keep trying in Japan? They could just withdraw from the market and cut their losses while saving money that they could put into promoting and selling the Xbox in regions where the brand sells like North America or Europe.
How can selling 14 Xbox One systems in a week even be considered worth it? The 3DS is still outselling it, and that's a platform that is now no longer in production.
Oh boy, this leak(if true) might hurt sales of Street Fighter VI since everyone can see that they can skip the vanilla and Super versions and just pick up the Ultra version.
What is that Mega Man game? Is it Mega Man 12, Mega Man X9? Could it be one of those two games please?
Also, Captain Commando of all Capcom games is getting a remake or reboot? How many people remember Commando outside of his appearances in Marvel vs Capcom 1 & 2?
Or to put it more bluntly, how many people remember the game he came from? If I recall, Captain Commando was pretty much a blip on Capcom's radar back when it came out in the early 90s.
For $299, you can pick up an Xbox Series S and have a next-gen system that has upgraded hardware and power.
In other words, between the Switch and Xbox Series S you can have your cake and eat it too since you can pretty much have two next-gen systems without breaking the bank.
Plus, the Xbox Series as a whole is the best value in gaming right now. With this system, you have access to four generations of games from the OG Xbox all the way to the Xbox Series hardware.
As someone who enjoys having his Xbox 360 games like Fallout New Vegas on the Xbox One S, this feature is very underrated, especially if you've invested in an Xbox over the years.
What makes it even better is that BC on the Xbox One already upscales games and makes them look even nicer.
From what I've heard, even the Xbox Series S has vastly better BC than the Xbox One models and can upscale games at an even higher resolution with improved frame rates compared to running those games on their native hardware.
Having a Switch and an Xbox Series system is like getting the best of both worlds when it comes to Western and Japanese games.
Plus, with Microsoft holding the key to Bethesda's IPs, the Xbox (and PC) may be the only place to play Elder Scrolls VI, Fallout 5, or the next Doom.
That alone is enough to make me go for the Xbox Series S
@Jakiboy He still puts out good content. I know the way he does reviews may not be everyone's cup of tea given the vulgarity of his show, but he covers some interesting games, systems, and topics and does it in a way that's enjoyable.
He's also not scared to call out sacred cows of gaming like Earthbound and Majora's Mask and knock them down a few pegs by showing some of the flaws those games do have.
I think his reviews are pretty in-depth. Under all the cursing and number 2 jokes, he covers the games pretty well.
I'm a little surprised Sonic Mania and Sonic Forces were not on the same cart given Sonic Forces is something of a sequel to Mania in terms of the story.
Do these versions on the dual cart include all the DLC for the respective games?
If any dataminers can pull up info that the emulator that runs this game can also support SNES and GBA games, this this confirms my sneaky suspicion that this was supposed to be a Fire Emblem collection of Fire Emblems 1-8
The reason why I say this is because the emulator is much too large for a NES game when you consider all the assests, and Nintendo commonly loves to do collections to celebrate anniversaries, such as Kirby's Anniversary Collecton or the recent Super Mario 3D All-Stars Collecton.
It just seems odd that a single random NES rom is given this treatment and its so large in terms of file size.
I think this was intended to be a collection of Fire Emblem 1-8, with 3-6 getting their first translations ever, while Shadow Dragon and Gaiden were getting translations for the first time on their debut platforms.
But Covid got in the way, and the project fell apart. Due to changes in development and other things, only Shadow Dragon got translated.
So, Nintendo is trying to at least make something out of the little bit they put into the project by selling the translated version of Shadow Dragon and retooling the Physcial Release to focus on that game alone.
I could be wrong, but 30MB is a massive size for a Famicom rom, even if they do include some extras with it.
It all depends on what dataminers find.
But if they discover that the Emulator can support NES, SNES, and GBA games or hints of those games somewhere, then Covid just robbed us of what could have been a major project to celebrate Fire Emblem's Anniversary.
While I will give Nintendo props for finally translating the Famicom version of Fire Emblem 1, its soured a bit by this limited time BS.
Plus, why not translate the SNES version of Fire Emblem 1 that also had another book that served as a direct sequel to this game?
I know I will get slammed for saying this, but it feels like Nintendo is milking their audience for all its worth.
I'll give them props for translating Fire Emblem I to English, but they aren't the first ones to take an old game that was Japan only and properly bring it over to other regions.
Sega did this years ago with Monster World IV, and Konami for all their issues in recent years did a proper translation of Kid Dracula and included it in the Castlevania Anniversary Edition.
Even with all the cool stuff, the limited edition feels like a ripoff since you're pretty much paying for extras and a digital code..
Why not a Fire Emblem collection that included newly translated versions of Fire Emblem 1-6 alongside Fire Emblem 7 and Sacred Stones?
That would have been a wonderful way to celebrate Fire Emblem's history.
I'm sorry, people can downvote me to hell for saying this, but Nintendo is reaping the rewards while being lazy. If any other company did this, they would be bashed to hell and back.
But because Nintendo finally translates one Famicom game, tosses a download code in a fancy box with other stuff(cool goodies, but still), and then has the nerve to say its a limited edition, then it's ok?
What scares me is the number of people who are defending this nonsense. What if Nintendo announces a remake of Zelda I and II next year, but its a limited edition with a limited print run, get your copy now!
People are eating this up, and giving Nintendo the message that it's cool.
This is not a good trend, and anyone who defends this is blinded by the Nintendo logo on the box. As I said before, if anyone company pulled this, people would be demanding blood.
Let's suppose Square Enix announced they were bringing over a newly translated version of the Famicom version of Final Fantasy III for the game's 30th anniversary, but it will be a limited run and it will be gone forever. You can buy it for $5.99 or get a collectors edition for 50 bucks!
How many people all over the net, even on this very site would be slamming Square Enix for such a cheap, underhanded tactic to drive sales, while still but are supporting Nintendo's nonsense.
They did this crap with the NES Classic, and now they are expanding it to games on their core systems.
The Switch happens to be a lucky console when it comes to timing this holiday season. The PS4 and Xbox One are going to see lower sales this holiday since they are now older gen consoles which most people are not going to run out to buy.
The PS5 and Xbox Series hardware are held back by limited supply issues, the larger price tag, and limited game selection(even if BC on both platforms does help this issue to some degree.)
So, there was never any doubt Nintendo will win this holiday season. Its competing with older systems that are now last-gen, while the new systems are limited in terms of supply.
The real test will be in 2021. How well will the Switch do against the PS5 and Xbox Series systems once they have a chance to build their library of games, the supply issues are worked out, and the heavy hitters like Halo start dropping.
I think the Switch will be in for more of a fight next year.
@yuwarite We will get a new Smash Bros on the next Nintendo system, and I think Bomberman has a good chance of joining the ranks of Mii Costumes, Assist Trophies, and Pokeball Pokemon who have been promoted to fully-playable.
Bomberman will join Smash someday. There were just other fighters who got the nod over him this time.
At the risk of upsetting his fans, I don't think Travis Touchdown deserved to be a full fighter when so many other more deserving and important third-party characters could be picked to be in the roster.
If you look at the third-party fighters who have made it into the game, pretty much all of them are icons of gaming and very important to gaming and its evolution as a whole.
The only two you might argue with would be Joker and Bayonetta, but even those two have vaild reasons to be in the roster.
Joker comes from a long-running series with Persona, which itself is a spin-off of Shin Megami Tensei which is a series that existed since 1987.
Bayonetta is special since Nintendo pretty much publishes her games now, making her a pesudo-first party and she's the one who won the Smash Fighter Ballot once all the unlikely choices were taken out.
My point is, while I might upset some people who hate my opinion, I just don't think Travis Touchdown is important enough to get into Smash as a full fighter. Getting a slot is hard enough, and there are numerous third-party fighters who deserve the honor more.
@Wexter I know this may not be anyone's top pick, but if a Sony rep could get in, I think it should be Kratos.
Crash Bandicoot has not really been a first-party character for Sony since the PS1 era and Jak is just not well-known today.
But I kinda think of Kratos as the mascot of the Playstation with maybe Nathan Drake being the only other one who comes close.
Plus, he could be interesting from a gameplay point of view thanks to his Blades. I'm not even worried about them toning him down for a T rated game since he's appeared in a Soul Calibur game as well as Playstation All-Stars.
If they wanted to play it safe, they could go with the Celtic era Kratos.
I dunno, when I think of Playstation first-party the first thing that pops into my mind is God of War and Kratos.
With all the weapons, magic, and cool stuff Kratos gets over the course of his games, I would love to see someone like him in the hands of Sakurai and his team. I think he would be one hell of a fighter thanks to Sakurai's magic.
@Franklin Will people give the "Oh god, not another sword user." thing a rest already? Most video game characters are going to have swords as their main weapons(even if they can use other weapons in their home games) or swords are their most famous weapon that often factors into the plot.
Yes, we get it, Smash has numerous fighters that use swords. And barring Marth/Roy and the clones they spawned, none of the sword fighters fight nothing alike.
Even the two Magic-Based Swordfighter in Robin and Hero are different since Robin uses the Durability System from Fire Emblem and Hero uses a magic system with MP like in the Dragon Quest games.
Some sword fighters like Ganondorf don't even use it as their main weapon. Ganon is still a brawler and only brings out the sword for his Smash Attack which makes him less like Falcon.
My point is, Steve has a sword. What does it matter? Does the rest of his kit not matter because he's a sword fighter?
Why is there such a backlash against sword fighters in Smash Bros? This has been a complaint dating back to Smash Wii U/3DS.
This is not a bad pick, Minecraft is very popular and Steve looks like a solid fighter.
I get that people are salty that someone they wanted to see added to the roster failed to get in. I wanted Ryu Hayabusa or the Prince of Persia to be a DLC fighter.
But this is a great pick given Minecraft's importance to gaming and how Steve's kit is nothing like we've seen in Smash before.
Fine, maybe people wanted Travis Touchdown to make it in. But to act like this is a horrible pick and make up a bunch of crap about how Minecraft does not deserve to be in Smash is sad.
Yeah, maybe Nintendo also chased after the money on this one. But there is no doubting Minecraft's popularity, and I can see him being one fo the better selling DLC fighters in the game.
@MysticX One of the things that concerns me is if Nintendo starts overruling Sakurai and forcing the issue on certain characters.
Like for example, take Goku from Dragon Ball. One of the most popular characters in all media and an icon whose franchise pulls in tons of money. The game rights are also held by Namco Bandai who has a close relationship with Nintendo.
Suppose Namco and Toei start pushing Nintendo to add Goku to Smash since they stand to make tons of money and the news of him being added will eclipse any other third-party that has been added in terms of hype, even Cloud, Snake, and Sonic.
So, Goku appears as a DLC fighter despite Sakurai's long-standing rule that he would never allow fighters to join smash that debuted in media outside of Video Games, which Goku does not meet that requirement.
My point is, I hope Steve was Sakurai's own choice and not just something that was forced on him by Nintendo. Because if Nintendo is starting to force fighters to be added due to popularity and sales, then it could open Pandora's Box for anyone to toss Nintendo tons of cash to add someone to Smash.
What worries me is if the other DLC fighters weren't selling as good as Nintendo wanted, and now they are starting to force the issue.
That's kinda the issue with someone like Travis Touchdown, he sounds cool on paper and has his fans, but will casual fans drop money to own him?
Sonic Adventure 1 is better than Sonic Adventure 2 in every single way. More gameplay mechanics, better levels, better soundtrack, Chaos is a better villain, I love the Adventure fields, the list goes on.
I don't get why people like Sonic Adventure 2 so much. I played it years ago, and I just never got into it. But Sonic Adventure is a game I still play even to this day on my Xbox One.
I know I'm going against the grain here, but Sonic Adventure 2 is overrated.
I have it on my phone and I enjoy the game, but I have some issues with the game since I'm f2p.
The biggest issue is how hard it is to get Rubies so you can do a multi summon off a pipe.
With Dragon Ball Legends and Fire Emblem Heroes, I can at least play enough in-game events and missions to earn enough in-game currency to get some summons in.
With Mario Kart Tour, I can't do that, and many of the in-game rewards are locked behind that stupid pass.
So, when I do play mobile phone games, I just play Dragon Ball Legends or Fire Emblem Heroes.
At least those games let me earn enough as a f2p player to summon off banners or unlock characters who are f2p through events that can't be found on banners.
The PvP might have been a good aspect, but it feels tacked on. Fire Emblem Heroes has rewards for playing PvP, and Dragon Ball Legends has rewards, as well as Chrono Crystals to the players who place in the top 20K.
Mario Kart? Nothing is given for playing PvP.
But with all that said, I do think the game plays well, the roster is really good with tons of Mario characters(if you can pull them), and I like the remixed courses.
Some QoL improvements, and maybe a way to earn Rubies for f2p players would help out.

Re: Fire Emblem's Gatekeeper Wins Popularity Poll Ahead Of Marth, Chrom, And Byleth
Honestly, I am shocked it too Marth this long to place high in this poll.
But I am going for Eirika as my free pick since Sacred Stones is still my favorite game in the series.
Re: Video: 10 Times Nintendo Characters Appeared In Third-Party Games
Link in Soul Calibur II is still one of the best guest appearances for a Nintendo character in a third-party game and made that version the best one of the three.
Plus, Link's appearance in Soul Calibur II marked one of the rare times that a Gamecube version of a game outsold it's Xbox and PS2 counterparts.
Re: Nintendo Celebrates Fire Emblem Heroes' Fourth Anniversary With New Updates And Rewards
Re: Nintendo Celebrates Fire Emblem Heroes' Fourth Anniversary With New Updates And Rewards
@GrailUK Unless I am wrong, it's Nintendo's most successful mobile game on terms of profit and playerbase.
Re: Nintendo Celebrates Fire Emblem Heroes' Fourth Anniversary With New Updates And Rewards
@Blooper987 I hate to say this, but who is Gate Keeper? Is it something from Three Houses?
Because I have not played that game yet even though I recently got a Switch.

Re: No, Konami Isn't Exiting The Video Game Business
@pixelpatch That had nothing to do with Konami since Hudson Soft was still a stand alone developer back then.
Re: Feature: Best Kirby Games Of All Time
For me personally, Kirby's Adventure is still the best game on the NES.
I consider it better then even SMB3.
Re: A 'Pro' Switch With More Power Might Not Even Be Fully Utilised, Says Industry Veteran
What point is there for a Switch Plus?
Re: Switch Ranked Greatest Handheld Of All Time By UK Newspaper The Guardian
@Highonda_H_S For me personally, I consider the Switch a hybrid console and not a pure handheld like the Game Boy.
So, I view it in its own separate category from handhelds, home consoles like the PS5 and Xbox, PC gaming, and mobile gaming.
To me, the Switch is the first system of its kind and different from any other gaming device on the market.
So in that regard, the 3DS is the best handheld system ever made and will likely never give up that title since it's the last mainstream handheld system built from the Game Boy' lineage and design ideas.
Re: Switch Ranked Greatest Handheld Of All Time By UK Newspaper The Guardian
I think the DS is overrated. So many games have potential, but they are ruined by tacked on touch screen controls.
The 3DS is the best handheld Nintendo has ever made followed by the GBA and the PSP sneaks onto the podium in third place.
The PSP is such an underrated system with tons of great games that felt like holding a PS2 in your hand.
I would rank the DS below the Game Boy/Color. All these years later, it's hard to come back to many DS games like Phantom Hourglass.
I don't rank the Switch as a handheld console, at least by the same standards as something like a 3DS or Game Boy.
To me, it's more of a hybrid console.
Re: Almost 4,000 People Have Ranked Their Top Starter Pokémon - Here Are The Results
@Expa0 Just curious, but why do you box your starter? In Single Player, they are all a decent option to always have around.
I always keep my starter in my party and I generally pick a fire type which is harder to find in the wild.
Re: Nintendo 3DS Outsold The Entire Xbox Family - Including Series X - In Japan Last Year
@Giancarlothomaz Funny thing is, even Sony is losing ground in Japan. Not having a portable to replace the Vita over there is hurting them.
Sony may be doing better then Microsoft, but both are being crushed by Nintendo in Japan.
Re: Random: Family Video Closes Its Doors After 42 Years
It's sad to hear this because somehow, they survived the rise of Netflix and other streaming services, Movies being sold on demand digitally, and even the fall of two rivals that were larger then them.
What takes Family Video down in the end? Covid, which has done more damage to retail and businesses then Amazon and Wal-Mart combined.
Re: Miyamoto's Kids Played "A Lot" Of Sega Games, But That Just Inspired Him To "Try Harder"
Re: Random: Sakurai's Nod To Super Mario RPG In His Latest Smash Ultimate Photo
@Jmjfrank Chrom is still a part of Robin's Final Smash even though he's a playable fighter, so there's no reason Toad can't remain a part of Peach's moveset while being a playable fighter himself.
I think Captain Toad is the best way to go, especially since he can still reference the main Toad's move set as well.
Re: Random: Sakurai's Nod To Super Mario RPG In His Latest Smash Ultimate Photo
Re: Random: RE4 Director Was Worried About PlayStation And Xbox's Future, So He Did A Deal With Nintendo
Re: Sakurai's Smash Bros. Sephiroth Broadcast Will Run For About 35 Minutes
But how is Travis Touchdown important to gaming?
Re: Switch Becomes The Best-Selling Console For 24 Consecutive Months Despite PS5, Xbox Series Launches (US)
@rallydefault I understand how you feel. Personally, I don't see them as much of a step up over my PS4 or Xbox One S outside of slightly better-looking graphics.
But there's no insane difference like there was during previous generation jumps.
These new consoles just don't seem to bring anything new to the table....
Re: Sephiroth From Final Fantasy VII Joins Super Smash Bros. Ultimate This Month
@Bizzyb Sora never had a real shot since Disney owns the rights to him and can be hard to work with at times
Geno was also screwed by the fact that he's tied to the Mario Universe. Why would Square Enix waste a third party slot on Geno?
Re: Sephiroth From Final Fantasy VII Joins Super Smash Bros. Ultimate This Month
@AlienX Sega has three reps. Joker also counts since Sega owns Atlus.
Re: Dragon Quest XI S And Dragon Quest Builders 2 Receive Permanent Price Reductions
@nessisonett Yeah, Game pass is already paying for itself by having Dragon Quest XI on there.
Re: Custom-Made Etika Joy-Con Which Raised $10k For Charity Fell Foul Of Copyright Claim, Creator Reveals
What the hell is the big deal? As far as I can tell, the issue is due to the use of the Joy Con branding that belongs to Nintendo.
So, remove the damn branding and everyone can move on with their life.
It's such a simple solution and people are acting like this is a major deal.
Re: Video: 21 Nintendo 64 Games Everyone Should Play
@Durians Fair enough, and it still backs up my point that N64 games are better played on other systems where you don't have to deal with that terrible controller.
Re: Why Is Fire Emblem So Dark On Switch? It Reportedly Runs On The Same Emulator Used On Wii U
Re: Video: 21 Nintendo 64 Games Everyone Should Play
Re: "Free Melee" Becomes "Save Smash" Following Nintendo's Legal Action Against Competitive Smash Bros. Event
Re: "Free Melee" Becomes "Save Smash" Following Nintendo's Legal Action Against Competitive Smash Bros. Event
Re: Smash Comp The Big House Cancelled After Cease And Desist From Nintendo
Re: Japanese Charts: Switch Sales Remain Strong As Next-Gen Systems Hit The Market
Re: Huge Capcom Leak Suggests New Final Fight, Power Stone, Mega Man And Dragon's Dogma Games Are Coming
Re: Soapbox: Here's How I'd Fix The Pokémon Series
@SeantheDon29 Remain popular enough to keep getting made despite claims of lesser quality from what the fanbase considers the prime of the series?
Like the modern episodes of The Simpsons or not, it has stayed popular enough despite it's flaws to remain on tv for 32 seasons.
Pokemon is in the same boat in that regard.
Even better, here's a quote that Bart said back in 1992.
"Quality, shmuality! If I had a TV show I'd run that sucker down to the ground!"
This quote applies to both The Simpsons and Pokemon
Re: Poll: Which Will Be Your Second Console - PS5 Or Xbox Series X?
Re: Review: Angry Video Game Nerd 1 & 2 Deluxe - A Double-Dose Of Accomplished Platforming Action
Re: Sega's Sonic Double Packs Are Out Now On Nintendo Switch
I'm a little surprised Sonic Mania and Sonic Forces were not on the same cart given Sonic Forces is something of a sequel to Mania in terms of the story.
Do these versions on the dual cart include all the DLC for the respective games?
Re: Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & The Blade Of Light Switch eShop File Size Revealed
Re: The Original Fire Emblem Is Coming To The West For The First Time Ever On Switch
Where does it end?
Re: Switch Predicted To Be Best-Selling Console This Holiday Season In The US
The Switch happens to be a lucky console when it comes to timing this holiday season.
Re: Popular Twitch And TikTok Star Pokeprincxss Has Been Sued By Nintendo
See, this is why the Angry Nintendo Nerd became the Angry Video Game Nerd.
So he could sell licensed products without making Nintendo mad at him.
Regardless of how you feel about the AVGN, he did it the right way when it came to selling stuff based on his brand.
What was she thinking selling shirts with Pokeballs on it? Did she think Nintendo was gonna turn a blind eye to such a thing?
Re: Bomberman, Travis Touchdown, Creeper And More Join Super Smash Bros. Ultimate As Mii Fighter Costumes
Re: Bomberman, Travis Touchdown, Creeper And More Join Super Smash Bros. Ultimate As Mii Fighter Costumes
Re: Video: Here's Minecraft Steve Getting Added To The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Mural
Re: Minecraft's Steve Revealed As Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's Next DLC Fighter
Re: Minecraft's Steve Revealed As Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's Next DLC Fighter
Re: Minecraft's Steve Revealed As Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's Next DLC Fighter
Re: Feature: Every 3D Sonic The Hedgehog Game Ranked
Sonic Adventure 1 is better than Sonic Adventure 2 in every single way. More gameplay mechanics, better levels, better soundtrack, Chaos is a better villain, I love the Adventure fields, the list goes on.
I don't get why people like Sonic Adventure 2 so much. I played it years ago, and I just never got into it. But Sonic Adventure is a game I still play even to this day on my Xbox One.
I know I'm going against the grain here, but Sonic Adventure 2 is overrated.
Re: Poll: It's Been One Year Since Mario Kart Tour Was Released, Are You Still Playing It?
